Happy New Year and all that.

Let us have the campsite details when you book. I've not ridden that part of Wales before, so looking forward to giving it a try.
Just recovering from a tumble over xmas at present. Broke a bone in my hand, so not riding for a couple weeks yet.
Cheers

Adrian

OK just had 'Peter' from Sweden make contact on behalf of himself and a friend. you're both welcome!

http://www.campsitedolgellau.co.uk/

this is the camp site and feel free to call up anyone. it's a good campsite and only a short walk from the town centre. showers are HOT and to me that is vital!!! there is no need to book the site. all tents in early May are welcome to just turn up and pitch up. it is a big site!

It won't get over subscribed. I think when I talk to Fergus and James that we'll come up on the Thursday again and ride on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday but head home Monday.

or travel up friday and get there in time for half a day of riding and then on the Monday half a day again.

regards

Taffy

Thanks for your positive response to my email Taffy
We look forward to seeing you in the UK Force 2012
now we just take care of some practical points that ferry and trip schedule
it is 1700 km from Sweden
we shall return when we have solved this
Peter

we're on 11 including a dodgy 'whitey' who has a get out clause written out   ready!

nothing from plumbob, Markeo, Cypher at present.

Taffy

am keeping an eye on things,

lots of changes going on at moment so cant really plan too far ahead hence i haven't signed up yet

I'm not road legal for at least a year so no laning for me in 2012

I'm keen - and will be up for doing 2 days worth. Only ever done South Wales before, so excited to learn some new routes!

Martin

Hi,

I would like to join this event. Hopefully I will get some more practise before the trip. Still room for one?

regards,

Peter

you're both welcome lads! I hope anyone else thinking of coming can also say their name like yourselves. perhaps the skill levels could be mentioned as well?

if we all turn up this is a 2 group ride. so I'll ask Ed if his friend that WAS going to help last year would be able to volunteer again? either that or I may have a sat nav ready by then and if I can get something down might pass it on but I just don't think you can beat a second person who knows the way....

regards

Taffy

Thanks for the welcome Taffy,

I guess I am a novice. Bit of offroading in Africa 4 years ago and big trip (mostly off road) in Mexico 1985.
But I ride on the road all year round.

This Sunday I will meet Fergus ( I bought his 501) and his friends for some off roading. Hope fully I will get plenty of practise.

cheers,

Peter

Ok just to wet the appetite of signed up riders here is some footage of one of the days rides.
Some of the water was well deep. Camera angle a bit low to start with but better later on.
You'll have to add your own music.
It is a Berg free production that will be put right in May

14.20 friggin 4by4s again! what a mess they made of that lane to the right?

what time of year was that ED?

I've just bought all the sat nav gear for my Breslau trip so I guess I might, just might practice with it all in Wales although if I tip off this time Like I did when I brought Mark2Eo off as well I will need another mortgage!

good riding but I get the feeling it was you with the helmet cam - going way too fast as usual....

It was last Sunday.

This particular days riding is generally easyish going with a few interesting bits thrown in.

I will take some video of the other days riding in the next few weeks when I ride out that way.

Hi im newish to the forum and I think more importantly very green when it comes to lanes on a bike (20yrs in Landrovers though) Ive done about 5 days in the Peaks but only on MT350/MT500s So slow heavy lumps (I Have done Stanage Edge as it's on my door step). 2 half days on a 1988 Husky TC510.
I have only been riding bikes for 5 years but have racked up around 25,000 miles on them in that time (including a 2 up 3000mile round trip to Sardinia and the Alps in 10days)
Ive just picked up a 2003 FE501 so will be getting out ASAP but not sure how well i would cope with on this weekend.
Whats your thoughts??

Cheers Pete

My thought are get out and spend as much time on the 501 as possible. It will allow you to get used to the bike and also start to get your body bike fit. This will also give the bike a good shakedown to ensure it up to 2 days riding.

It is not a race, so ride at a pace that you are comfortable with. This should prevent injuries.

At worst you will have a couple of nights talking bergs and drinking beer.

Cheers, I will get the tax on the bike this week and get out next weekend.

would there be any objections to bringing a mate with a Husky TE610 on the weekend?? About as experienced as me off road but half my age (so bounces a lot better!!)

I have lead road rides round Wales for the Super Tenere forum XTZ750's, and it has been a while since I did any 4x4 over there. Would you let us know the maps needed or at least the bottom left/top right corner grid refs so i can load the PDA with them.

Cheers Pete

we can deal with all that when you get there mate.

we really don't know your skill level still do we? it is true to say that a novice might struggle - especially if it is wet. as Ed says: get out ASAP and get some practice in.

the problem is that if you haven't ridden much you have no idea of machine preparation. suspension, gearing etc. best to get things like that in your mind as being important as well. gearing wants to be 13 x 51 or akin too. tyre pressures can be 8F and 10R you could go less with new tyres and HD tubes.

but you're welcome to join us, suffer with everyone else and then laugh over a beer! oh and as we say one and one so yes you can bring one buddy!

regards

Taffy

Cheers, ill sort out a smaller front sprocket (15-48 atm) Ill do the SAG this weekend and see how things go. Im hoping to head up to Holmefirth area on Sunday with a bunch of the MT riders.
If you let me know the maps I can start to see if ive landrovered or mountain biked the areas in the past (i might want to bottle out now!!). ive done a reasonable amount round Strata Florida (monks trodd many many years ago) so I have a bit of an idea of the sort of ground just not on a bike.
