Im still wanting to do this, Hope to strip the shock and forks off the bike this weekend. I need to get them re sealed, both leaking :(

Are there any known issues removing the lower shock bolt on the 2001 fe501?

Cheers Pete

OK I'm going to put this up as it is two Months since the last post here.

How are we doing for the routes Ed? a couple of people have said that they didn't think that there was enough riding around there but I gather that with riding out to Mychinleth and all the nuances that TRF members know: we should be very busy indeed!

so a reminder to anyone interested:
you need one husaberg to one buddy to be coming
you are then most welcome!you only need to be either the owner of a Husaberg, a memeber here or with someone who is one or the other!
there is no cost as such: we do a T-shirt which is about 10-15gbp
If you are abroad and would like to visit: I can arrange your travel and more. we may even have a bike or two spare depending on how much we love you! we have spare tents as well.
Ed is a brilliant leader who sets a good pace and has had a few runs to get things spot on. he also takes great photos while opening gates which nobody else could do!
If we get past 8 (ok 10 max) we'll split into two groups and then we can have two skill sets.

last year I went with the group that considered itself slower and didn't notice much difference in speed. perhaps a fall or two more. but it isn't so tough that you will lose time and be worn out.

we may try a Saturday evening BBQ this year and in order to do that we'd like to know if anyone is taking a friend who is staying on the camp and would be prepared to light up just before we get back and anything else would be a bonus. The idea is that we have been losing two hours to getting changed and sorted ready to go into town to then order food. whilst we like all the social stuff we believe that good social times are being wasted in all this 'lining up your ducks in a row'

so let us get the ball rolling and can i ask anyone reading this to confirm your place if you have not already said so?

let us get it sorted then and TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

Taffy

Mart
was it you that came last year with a spare mate that didn't ride?

I put up about a camp site on page one here? it is I think the only camp site in the town so I guess it is there...

Wyeside Caravan & Camping
just off the A470 Rhayader, Powys

http://www.wyesidecamping.co.uk/thesite.htm

post code: LD6 5LB

and call 01597 810183 although I would gather we don't need to book.

Hello guys, been offline due to the birth of my sun and work for the last 8 months or so. Put my FE450 inf or it's first MOT this week and desperate to get back out there again. Bought an RC8R to try and fill the void but nothing like a bit of off roading in Wales!!I'll check to see if my mate is up for it - if so I'll book the time off work (and with the other half) :)

Got your PM. Unfortunalty that weekend, May Bank holiday, could clash with a road bike trip to the Alps we've got pencilled in. Whats the chances? If it all falls through, i'm there.

We're trying to plan a weekend trip to Rhayader in Feb too. Fantastic area to ride.

Hi
We in Sweden have started our planning to attend the UK Force Ride 2013
because we fancy that 2012 was very good and different from our normal rides in Sweden
what we would like is more Enduro roads and less major roads
hope there is a place for us to participate in this

Peter / Anders

It'll be good to see you back Peter: and Anders as well!

some of you will have gathered that I've blitzed all previously interested parties to see who is up for this year. I've also invited Steve 'Beta Rider' regardless of his mo-chine coz he was a darn fine chap last year!

Peter
if you have any magazine friends that want to fly over and try the delights of Wales there is an invite for them to get here and I'll find a bike for them.

regards

Taffy

Looking forward to it Taffy, time booked off and counting the days! Any developments regarding routes or restrictions? Last year certainly had variety, wonder if we might get some forestry or quarry....

Hi Taffy

I've PM'd you and hope to make it to Rhayader, back to about 75% now & been out on the bike a couple of times (gently). Should be fully fit by May.

Looking forward to it.

Luke

I'm sure Ed will be along soon to tell us? Mark questioned whether there was enough riding up there and also that he rides there all the time, Ed said he wasn't such a frequent visitor and Cypher lives nearby. so I got stuck in to sorting it out but Ed has done more riding around there than he let on and I'm assured that there is more than enough excellent riding for the three days.

so, I've left Ed to it, Cypher has gone to ground and I've approached Mark(2eo) with a request that he might take a second group out on the Saturday?

I'm told that it is an excellent camp site - mind you it is next to a river............!

all is going well at present.we are on 13 with many previous riders yet to reply.

there is no need to book up - just turn up and I'm told that 'The Eagle' pub is a 2-minute walk from the camp site! So maybe this year isn't the year to have a BBQ after all........

Taffy

Hi Taffy

am hoping to come along though i'll probably find a b&b if i can, not sure which days i'll make it yet so will let you know, what sort of time do you expect to start riding each day ?

Cheers
Ian

we 'gather' and 'hover' until everyone is there but expect 9 for 9.15-9.30 start.

glad you're coming! the camp site MAY do cabins or those permanent motorhome type places although at a guess it would hold 4-6 people and cost a bug premium for one.

Taffy

there's a rumour around....

I'm told that Mike and Tony intend coming again this year via a third party. it is a shame they can't tell us here!

how about it boys?

regards

Taffy

I is still around but just don't log on much.

Don't know if I can make it.

Reading through the thread it looks all decided but to just put forward a bit of localish knowledge.

Go for either Rhayader, Llanidloes or builthwells for the night life. Forget llandod it's ****.

Rhayader can be a bit of a Wild West town but they know how to drink.

Riding wise Rhayader would be the best as you can easily access trails that go in various directions more so than the other towns mentioned.

Whilst all the rides will involve some Tarmac the rest should make up for it.

Also all levels can be catered for, an example being our club Christmas ride out where at one stage it took us 2 hrs to do 4 miles and most bikes boiled, and were talking championship class riders. So from Rhayader it can be a gentle trail ride or as extreme as it gets.

Forestry deffo I would have thought not so much quarry as they're aren't that many in area and ones that are, are in use.

This film shows the basis of one of the days riding. Obviously you will have to imagine the customary sunshine that is now the norm for the UK Force rides.
http://youtu.be/FkPgFzhQLFg

Couldn't be arsed to watch it all but know where he was in the first 5 mins and where he was going. For a hard day from Rhayader you could do the first bit the follow the Tarmac before taking the track back towards llangurig and into the back of Tarenig forest.

Mostly legal apart from going into the forest but as long as not too many would be ok.

Will also check out what's going on in Hafren forest that weekend as that can be as easy or hard as you like.
