We should go for a burn SSSnake, I'm on the Central Coast :D

It is s shame. Wherever people get their info from it appears it's true, the biggest dealer in Sydney has told me that 100% the slanty enginje is gone and it will run the 2012 KTM motor and will probably be called a 501.

It seems pretty much old news that the 70 Degree motor is discontinued. In order to stop all of this speculation why hasn't KTM/Husaberg made an official announcement? Alot of speculation about cost savings and the new lighter weight KTM engine. What's the truth? When will the official anouncement of 2013 models come out?

I have always been looking at the Beta as my 2nd choice.

Should Beta go slanted I'll trade in my blue swedish goddess in a second, without ever looking back

The Husa's turn good, KTM also but the Beta's best!

Did you see how substantial the new 450's power curve is?

I love my 550 a lot, but I do believe that the new 500 motor will be powerfull.
On this same dyno, the KTM is more than 10% stronger than the rest, and it manages to have more power everywhere in the range.

Traditionally, the 450 was +- 10% down on power compared to the 530 (albeit right through the rev range)
So the 450 KTM will feel substatially more powerfull than the rest IMO.

I am trying to make a similar sort of conclusion going to the 500XCW (new FE501).. if its 10% stronger than the 530, it'll be close to my 550 i.t.o. performance.

..or is this a pipe dream?

During the latest WEC round in Portugal the Husaberg 4t did very well, in the E2 winning and in E3 2nd
Renet domminated E2 beating the model that supose to replace the 450 and Men in E3 beating Knight and by a
good margin, and Knight is a better rider than Mena I thought it was odd, then I stumble on this on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-keyn8HgrbI
now if it is true that 2013 Husaberg will be a blue KTM, have the bean counters at KTM lost their mind
I am spechless Later VIKING

good vid.u can just tell hes just wants to burst out and say the bike a aload of toot for his needs,it dont necessary mean the 500 is crap, its just crap for him to race.they should put him on the 2st.

people went & bought the berg 2st (ktm, badged as a berg) so i guess people will still buy the 4st.it will boil down to colour prefarance i spose. still a shame the slanty engine is going. the new TM would be on my nxt list, but as iv only put 4hrs on my berg in the last 6 months that can wait

Would be interresting to see knighter on a 500cc 70degree bike.

it was an offer that was unofficially put to him when he left BMW and his response is not really printable in civilised society.

isn't the xc-w basically the mx engine? so not really a fair comaprison against pure enduro bikes.

Discontinuation will probably raise the resale value, but I will be keeping mine for myself. I am just happy that I got hold of a new one. I haven't had a more nimble bike.

That's what I was thinking. Best dual sport bike around, already quite rare, KTM support for parts and now discontinued = strong demand for good condition used ones.

For 2013 yes and no.
The previous XCW motor was updated to serve as both MX and enduro.

Those are tough motors though, I used to do 800mile dual sport rides with my 450 xcw

Found 2 pictures of FE 250 and FE 350, no 70 degrees engine, really blue KTM.
How can I post the photoes (from IPad)?
Cheers

You can't. You can provide a web address link though.

If you want to post the pics you will need to add them to a photo hosting site. The one I use is Photobucket but there are literally hundreds of alternatives.

My Husaberg dealer told me that there will be no 70 degrees in 2013 models, everything because KTM is reducing the costs.
