Nicely said, I fully agree.

Should it happen (I dare to disagree that it would) we shall have a good look at Beta which also was a brand which was in an orbid around the KTM ecosystem. Very nice geometry and good steering behaviour. I would say even better than KTM. Let's wait until they also come out with injection!

Was expecting to be shredded for my rant, was pleased to see support here. I want my bike to be worthy of sitting in the lounge room.... Not that family would ever let me. I don't want it to have had another litre of fuel capacity removed, another 200mls of engine oil capacity taken away, and another couple of kilos shaved from the engine's bits; just so that some brochure can spout nonsense stats at the expense of reliability and practical riding.
(if I wanted to perform, I could lose 10kg, exercise and practice instead of trail-riding!)
Well i've got a fe450 coming I guess I should treat it like a family heirloom....?!? When it wears out i'll be one of thoseblokes that looks at something like Beta. Different!

OK, name me a badge engineered bike "manufacturer" that is going or even lasted a period being 'badge engineered'?

there were about 60 manufacturers used Villiers engines and in 1965 Villiers went pop and by 1969 there were none left. Husky use the BMW engine because BMW don't want it. but Husky dealers are bailing out. Husky are the only top line manufacturer still looking for dealers over here.

Taffy

Taffy, you probably already know this but the BMW engine is actually made by Kymco in Taiwan - no wonder it was handballed to husky. There's one in our 2009 G450X and thought it was ok - then I rode the FE570. Now the BMW feels and sounds more like a Chinese scooter. Looks like there's only a few 2012 FE570s left downunder. I'm glad to have one if all we can expect is a derivative of the 500exc.

I have to agree, not too excited about a Blue and Yellow KTM either. Having owned an 04 FE 550 and now an 09 FE 570 , I always liked the fact that they were different and really well made, but i guess that I should not panic until the official release. Fingers crossed for some refinements and maybe some weight lose!

DO NOT PANIC!

Berg will always be the luxury brand!

The difference is the components and technology (You will see in 5 days!!!).

I HAVE seen the Bergs and they do not look like a KTM>>> Most plastics have been redesigned to fit the new chassis and it looks pretty good (Not KTM plastics)!
The forks are well worth the money!!! And I won't forget to mention, the BERGs ARE LIGHTER than the orange sisters and you'll see exactly why in 5 days.

Engineers do get paid for something, don't they?

Launch coming up...

So is that a definite launch date, and if you don't mind me asking, how do you know? I've seen the 8th mentioned before, but also that the launch would be in September or even later. When I mentioned the 8th to my dealer a few days ago he thought it was unlikely as they hadn't received any promotional materials yet, which they normally do a couple of weeks before a launch. I guess it could just be that the factory were running a bit late getting that stuff sent out (or he's got it but been sworn to complete secrecy on pain of death...).

I know cause we all get invited as dealers. I know the date for it and I know Im leaving for Spain for it. The promotional material we will get on that date (just around the corner); no one has it yet. If your dealers would really be into it he would know all this. Maybe he doesn't read his emails through...
Just a few more days!!!
(nails biting!!!) i will get to test them all after the weekend (7 models)

Seven means FE250, FE350, FE450, FE501, TE125, TE250 and TE300 I take it?!

although I'm not glad one bit that we're losing the 70-engine I'm fairly excited...

spot on. there are so many riders using their bergs (& katos, WRs, CRFs etc) as trail bikes and even adventure bikes i can't see why they don't actually aim for 10 or even 12 liter tanks? aftermarket mobs provide tanks like this that don't disrupt the lines of the bike, and if you are seriously racing you simply don't fill the tank up. and it would be great if you could up the oil capacity to two liters with a simple bolt on oil cooler or reservoir, something a lot of berg owners want to do.

you're usually better informed than the rest of us but I would guess that there would be an FX450 in there rather than a FE450.

mine is a guess! :D :D

Obviously they were paid to use 75% of KTM parts while rest od 25% is ordered from supplier. Sounds like a good job to be engineer in Mattighoffen.

I also received some info, but it's useless to discuss, let's wait couple more days. Only one comment: yes, new Hsbg should be over EXC but bellow Six Days. Anyway, as Hsgb customer I'm bit disappointed by factory strategy since it is obvious that slowly they are killing the brand. It's not something new but process accelerate significantly during the last year due to the financial position and cost saving strategy. Maybe they consider us as idiots but I don't find anything interesting in buying motorcycle completelly the same as KTM in different colour.

Strange dealer, press have been invited to the presentation in Spain already two or three months ago.

I've been paying close attention this years model release. I believe enough information has been given for me to justify spending $1500 on my '10 570 FE to freshen her up.

I don't want a blue KTM 500. They have little torque compared to my 570. And for me, torque, is the primary reason for having a big bore 4 stroke.

Maybe we will be surprised and excited this week after we see and hear about the new models, but as of now, a partially "blinged out" KTM 500 with new plastics, and a potential plastic sub frame does not excite me enough to drop nearly $11000 after taxes.

We will see though . . . .

" we managed to track down KTM Australia's General Manager, Jeff Leisk, before he boarded a plane for the 2013 Husaberg launch in Spain"

Looks like details to be released any moment :bounce:
