The only one the thread that I have ridden with before is Andyc so no offence is meant to anyone in the following questions.
Before I plan 3 days riding can I ask how many have ridden 2 or 3 consecutive days before?
On previous, none Husaberg, events rider numbers have dropped dramatically on the second day due to mechanical, pseudo mechanical issues and rider fatigue or injury.

The other factor is groups. At the moment, numbers wise we are just into 2 groups.

One way of giving people what they want is to split on a mileage type basis.

The one group with riders looking to be on the go for a full 8 to 10 hours. Food and fuel only :bounce3:

The other group would have a later start time and and earlier finish time with more stops in-between. :bounce:

What do you want?

With regards to numbers I do not see the need to chase after people to attend. It is a forum based ride and those that are interested have/will come forward. Using it to drum up some interest in the forum is great.
The can I bring my mate/mates question is again difficult, as a one off it is no big deal but if several people did, then my feelings are, the event would lose something.

As an aside I flucked my shoulder up just before Christmas did not give it long enough to fully heal and went and fell on it again. All I can say is lesson learnt never ever again. Well at least until the next time.

OK Eddie - makes sense, but is this all co-ordinated off line on in this thread...

Me - I'm 49, only been riding 3 years - do a few novice level enduros (no real hill climbing as I live in the Fens (below sea level))- like a challenge but to be honest if I did a full 8 hour technical ride that may well be me done for the next few days. Having said that I wouldn't like to poodle around admiring the countryside.

Re numbers; I was handing out flyers at the green lane Crew mega ride in Dec to the 5 or so bergs that were there..others asked if it was for bergs only & when I said yes, they kind of said "well thats berg riders for you then" so I reckon the 2 - 1 sponsor deal sounds good and that names / bikes & riding levels should be posted here ??

I'm not worried about numbers yet. we have a dozen and we have 4 months to go. I expect that numbers will ramp up nearer the time. as i say, 21 would be a nice number and we're on target for that.

I've done several days riding on the trot but found the living conditions more wearing than the rides.

had a letter the other day from Wern Isaf camp site saying that they had a booking for the caravan for the friday evening and it was available from Saturday so i just cancelled the booking on it completely. If someone else wants to book it from Saturday evening then go ahead but I'm not sure what i was meant to do for the one night?

Taffy or Cypher, what sort of riding days did you do on the FR's? 6-8-10 hours?

As its my first time laning in Wales i'm wanting to take in the views as well a challenge but also don't want to kill myself or my bike.
Since i've started racing Hare and Hounds again i barely break into a sweat laning now. Thats doing between 100 and 140 miles over six hours or so but down here there's lots of little tarmac lanes between the offroad bits.
How that compares with Wales you locals will know.

The main thing for me is to enjoy it and that includes the social side, not getting p1ssed but chewing the fat over a few pints and a meal and over breakfast too.

Will definately want to ride all of the friday though to take advantage of the empty lanes.

cheers all

Carl

It's one thing doing 100+ miles of lanes when you're in a small group. But a group of 20+ is a whole different ball-game. If the group is to stay together, you inevitably make progress at the pace of the slowest rider; the risk of delays because of punctures and mechanical issues increases; a fuel stop or a quick breather takes 45 minutes instead of 10.

Greg

groups of 7 or so greg!

we rode from 10 till 4 in beautiful weather and quite honestly the riding was tough. you neede a trials bike half the time. I'm fit enough....

we have three skill levels to be in each level does less time on the trail and more time to 'stand and stare'.

Taffy

10 til 4 is my kind of riding, even on tough terrain...... must follow a good nights sleep and breakfast though.

Who's Greg by the way?

Carl

Hello Greg, sorry missed your message so thought Taffy was getting my name wrong again.

Agree about big groups, they are also intimidating for other trail users which isn't good.

See you in April,

Carl

Thats the one!!

Are you camping now Taffy or trying a different campsite?

anyone who knows me will say that i ought to go before I'm pushed!

I'm down to camp but I will be looking for a motorhome if i can but when i say 'looking' it will be just to ask a coupla folk i know. I camped a lot last year for the sidecar-cross rounds but all I was doing was spectating. muddy and wet I really don't want to be in my two-man'er.

and yourself (and others?)

regards

Taffy

I was going to try and book a van but then saw your post so i'm either in my two man'er or my van if i can lock the Berg up safely.

A tent wont be too bad as long as its not ***** weather.

Dont know what the deal is with Wern Isaf farm but I reckon we need the following;

All in the same place - campsite or holiday lets.Reasonable access to pubs / food - walking / staggering distance.

Clubroom / reception / shop / canteen would be preferred given the nature of UK weather and need for instant supplies.

Allowance to have camp fires - some campsites do, some dont.

April is really off peak for campsites so I reckon we'd get a good deal if we were to say 15 - 30 bods for Friday night through Sunday night.

As others have muted - accommodation doesn't need to be flash but given a hard days riding it needs to be reasonable comfortable & I would really look forward to a central campfire & BBQ afters a trail, rather than us all dispersing off in different directions & locations.

Me- I'm easy - happy to share (rooms not beds..doh..) dont fart too much.

Has anyone got a M.A.S.H type tent that sleeps 20 ????

Alternatively somewhere with cabins / vans etc.

i think i put the price of the tents up once and it's cheap enough. you can't herd cats and if I don't know who is going i'm not going to ask for a discount. it'll rain alright! will it rain ALL the time is the question and its bound to be bloody cold still at that time of year. now that everyone knows it's a long weekend I think everyone's going to say 'stuff the wedding - lets get away!' and do you know what/ i reckon it'll be very busy

so I would start talking about booking. I'm a little concerned still how people can come along, 7 posts, nik of 'husa909' and say "yes I'll be there"? you've gotta book your patch on the campsite. I think I've asked for room for a dozen tents and that is all at present but I can't get a handle on who?

Taffy

Yes the weather.
Previous years have had the lot. Rain (expected), Hail and Snow (possible) or bright sun shine and a mini heat wave which would be great.
I have been camping at this type of event in the past but hope to have a van with a camp bed in the near future. No one will welcome me as a guest in a caravan as I tend to snore after a few beers.
A quick look at the camp site web page shows that it gets really busy at the weekend so don't leave it too late to book.

Taffy has posted links earlier in the thread for the Tourist information board and hotel.

This campsite is close to the town for beer and food.
If anyone has a largish paddock tent/gazebo and barbecue then post up. It could be used as a meet point if the weather is bad.

My guess is that I will not have great sleep at night, the food will not be great but the beer will go down the right way and the bike will get dirty. Hopefully my cameras memory card fills up with photos and film and I will capture some of the laughs and adventure we enjoy during the weekend.

"Herding cats" is a great description and makes me laugh.

It's all sounding like it will be a great weekend, how much interest is there from the supermoto contingent. A weekend riding the roads of Wales, anyone up for it? :?:

Darren.

this is north wales your going too!

North wales police formally labeled the 'Taliban of traffic' in the media, good chance someone will end up with points

I can borrow a large 7m long x 2.5m x 2m high wide tunnel tent for that weekend. Wasn't planning on taking it but happy to if it helps and people help pitch it etc.
