Whoa there?

WTF? I inquired with Dale about the progress of my fuel tank delivery, especially considering that my order was placed before the announcement of the previous batch with the previous moulder.

My response from Dale was that "I would receive the first tank that he gets in his hand". I think I have been pretty patient but I am yet to receive a tank or any explanation as to why I am still waiting????

Dale, further to my previous request, I am once again inquiring on the status of my fuel tank delivery? Fair go, a joke is a joke but I think this is gong a little far!

Can I please have my tank?

PM Dale he is the nicest bloke on this forum
Regards,
Aussie Davo :D

FWIW I also contacted Dale about my order earlier in the month, he is on holiday until the end of this month and will be in contact when he gets back, presumably tomorrow. I think we are all in the same boat, fair enough if you ordered just before they stopped the manufacturing last year and are waiting. I would be pretty much fuming as well. I hope I get mine in time to install before Watagans rally but I'm not holding out much luck of that happening.

Oke, then I will wait till Dale is back from Holiday !
Expectation was delivering end of June, and that it is :D

The site remains te same, no updates since April, but saw a dealer here on the board selling, so i was curious about the status in general.
So will keep waiting :bounce: , and waiting takes a long time :D

To clarify a fact in response to irally, I ordered my tank and paid for it in full, before it was announced that the previous manufacturer was going to do a production run. This is the production run that ended prematurely.

Kind regards,
Aussie Dave

I remember that Dale mentioned on one of the posts here 3 months ago that the first 100? tanks would go to dealers that had been ordered for a while now. I read that and then ordered from Cyclebuy. They rx their shipment and sold through fairly quickly.

Hi Dave, yeah I guessed that's what you meant and as mentioned I wouldn't be very happy if I was in your shoes either, just thought I would give some insight as to what was happening is all, I am really keen to get my tank but know that there's a fair list of others both here and on other forums waiting for these that have been waiting a lot longer.

Man...I just read all the way back from day one on this thread.....thank god I have an old chassis bike with a fat tank....It took me three beers to read thru all the posts....Kudos to you guys for your patience and Kudos to Dale for sticking our the process. Good luck to all parties, hope it all comes off

I got an Acerbis sub tank for my 550 and never even fitted it, then sold it on the ebay....man I was lucky to never need it...

Aussie Dave

if you had a gasser you get great fuel economy and plenty of range out of the 11lt tank. Perhaps it is time to jump ship...........................

Hi Roberger,

The longer things go on, the more I am starting to think along those lines.

But I am still faced with one big problem! I have paid the full amount for a new fuel tank, but I am yet to receive it? If I sell the bike, maybe one day I will receive a fuel tank that I paid for long ago, but I will have no bike to put it on.

Whatever I do, I get screwed either way!

Hi Dale,

I just wanted to share with you and the lads here that the V2 tank works like a charm.

I carried about 15 kilo's of camping gear on it on a 1.300 km journey and no leaks, no problemo!

Now the bike just needs cleaning and I'm still smiling

I finished my install and all went well. It is a really well made tank with things lining up very well. I'm sure that wasn't simple to do at all.
For those yet to install:

Go slow, take pics, don't forget to install bolts. Read the instructions as to which bolts to reuse and not.
Don't overtighten bolts, error on the low side and check after the shakedown ride.
Using a 90d vent nipple for the subtank does make things easier(thanks to advrider forum for the tip).

Dale,
I am writing this entry in an attempt to get some sort of idea when and if I will ever get my fuel tank. I have paid for the tank in full and have been waiting for a considerable amount of time. What I am most annoyed with is the fact that I am unable to make any contact or establish any line of communication with the supplier of the product that I have paid for. I do not think that I am being unreasonable with my request. The product that I have paid for is extremely late and I have no communication. This is a most unsatisfactory situation for any supplier to place a customer in. What is going on? I would like to hear something from the supplier of the product that I purchased. The weeks continue to go by but I hear nothing. Please contact me!

Aussie Dave

Dave,

I thought I had sent off all of the international orders before I left on my vacation-so my apologies there. It is also possible that your tank got lost in transit.

Please send me your full name and address to [email protected] and when you made your purchase so I can track it down quickly, and get you your tank.

Dale

As an update to everyone else............

I am expecting to pick up a batch of tanks at the end of next week. I will do my best to get them assembled and shipped off as soon as possible.

I would like to remind everyone again that I really appreciate their patience waiting for these tanks.

There is only one other person that wants you to have your tank more than you do, and that's me. To say it has been challenging to get this product out is a gross understatement.

I also realize that it is of little consequence to those waiting, however, I would just like to say that I feel pretty lucky to have found the molder that I now have, who has not thrown in the towel in the face of adversity. I suppose it has something to do with the fact that he is one of "us".

Again, it is of little appeasement to those waiting on the product, this is an extremely hard part to produce and the scrap rate is high. As well, it is extremely labor intensive for the molder to produce this product.

Not making excuses here, just telling you all like it is.

I'm also sorry for not keeping up better on this thread. One of the posters here sent me a private note recently letting me know that there was some folks here that were unhappy, so I appreciate him letting me know so I could make a post and give an update.

Dale

Thanks for updating !!

Ofcourse everybody wants his tank urgently, me for example was expecting the tank end of June beiing shipped, calculated an extra month, so hoped for shipped end Juli.
I am goiing for a trip for a week in the begin of September, so really hope the tank will arrive in time

It's great to hear guys are receiving their tanks and are happy with them. I have been itching to order one for quite awhile now but am still waiting for a map switch i paid for a few months ago. It seems alot of stuff gets "lost in transit".

08-09-13:

When I went to pick up tanks today the molder only had 6 tanks ready for me.

Their QC had revealed that the aluminum inserts had become contaminated with substance that was preventing good bonding with the plastic, the result was that tanks were failing leak testing.

The molder is now in the process of cleaning the inserts, and getting molding going again.

I expect to pick up more tanks on the August 19th.

I will be shipping the six I have to the folks who have ordered/paid directly from the 70 degree racing website first. I will be filling the dealer orders after the 19th.

May I suggest that you write to sales@70degreeracing and inquire about your switch?

I have no idea who you are so I can't look up your order.
