The stand is factory but the foot is an aftermarket version with a wider footprint, I got sick of the factory item not holding the bike up. I just tried to find where I got it from but with no success but most likely it came from eBay. The plastic foot gets removed and the alloy foot replaces it with a roller pin to hold it in.

Okay,

So here is the original way the tail end of the sub frame looked

This is how it looks now after the design change was made to get ride of pin holes in the molding. Notice the two adapter bushings, EJOT screw and flat washer.

Once you have everything all mounted up, put the two bushings in the holes from the bottom. These bushings will give the rear fender pegs something to seat against now that the step has been removed.

If you are running a tail light assembly, put it on over the bushings and then install the EJOT screw with the washer on the OUTSIDE. If you are running an FX with no tail light holder, then install as shown in the picture.

Thanks again for sticking this out!

Hey Dale, quick couple of bits for you:

(a) I received my tank via the good lads at CycleBuy.com...man, were they great to deal with not only in knowledge, but in professionalism! Good on you for choosing them to be your channel partner!!!

(b) in the box with the tank, I received a one page instruction sheet that included installation steps which needed to be printed from the following address:
http://www.70degreeracing.com/subframet ... 090610.pdf

(c) there was also a link string on the aforementioned instruction sheet to a husaberg.org page that read " NOT INCLUDED IN THE ONLINE INSTRUCTIONS ARE THE FENDER ADAPTERS THAT ARE IN YOUR PARTS BAG. GO HERE FOR PICTURES"...the text was hard to read and thought the string read as:
viewtopic.php?f=76t=160366start=105

upon further reflection it appears to be
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16036&start=105

So my question is:
(d) is this set of images included in your linked comment above, that the instruction sheet was referencing?

Thanks in advance...

regards,
Jim...

I have put everything back together but I can't get my silencer to line up and silencer is 3/8" from seating all the way on the mid pipe. Something is not right but I can't figure it out. Everything else went back together and lined up perfectly. I can get one hole lined up but the other will not.

Any thoughts?

Can you post a picture please?

Is it the stock silencer?

Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know that 70* degree racing is gearing up for it's FINAL PRODUCTION RUN of tanks.

Please get your order in by 02-28-14.

Cycle Buy.com is now handling all 70* Racing sub frame tank orders nationally and internationally, so please contact them on the web at CycleBuy.com, or at 1-888-284-4588.

I placed my order last month for the sub frame fuel tank. I was putting off getting a tank because most of my riding I was able to get by. Well, when I heard this was the final run on the tanks and I plan on keeping my 09 FE 450, I decided it was time to get one. No more worrying or being stressed about running out of fuel on those long dual-sport rides.

I just heard from Aryn at Cyclebuy they have 30 ordered with 23 committed to customers. He said if any one would like one, you can still place an order. This is the last chance to get one as they will no longer be made. Tanks will be available soon for delivery and will confirm by email when they are “in transit”.

As I understand, these tanks are a work of art. Next will be the fun part, installation….

Seriously, if you don't need the extra fuel, don't bother with the tank! I think it is great that Dale took the time and effort to manufacture and supply an item such as this for a relatively small market but the end result simply isn't a quality item. I purchased mine last year and received it after a long, drawn out period of confusion on both our parts. It then sat in the box in my spare room for months as i had work commitments ( nobodies fault but mine). I recently fitted it to my bike and now that its functional, the extra fuel capacity is wonderful for me. The bad thing is that i spent four days chasing leaks and the fit and finish really isn't very good. I didn't bother contacting Dale with my problems, he would have had enough of me way back when i was waiting for my tank plus i wasn't about to send it back when i can just fix it myself and save us both a few more headaches!

On the other hand, with production coming to an end it may be a good idea to grab one anyway. You might be lucky enough to be one of the few guys on here that got a great tank with no issues! And if you get one with a few issues but am able to rectify them yourself then it can also be worth it. I'm sure they will be in demand in the future ( for anybody still riding bergs that is!).

I'm sure that as time passes the memory of my frustration will fade and the benefit of the extra fuel will outweigh any ill feeling i have now. That is unless the thing leaks again, ha ha ha!

Turns out it is leaking again! This time it seems to be weeping from the line connector between the two tanks. Just had to give it a bit of a wiggle and hope it seals up again, not much more i can do given the space under there. Im afraid to remove it for further inspection right now as im not sure it would go back on and the extra mileage is just great. I guess im still weighing up the pros and cons on this one, ha ha!

I've had mine about 12 months now and racked up around 800 kms. Never missed a beat, never leaked a single drop. The ONLY down side is that it makes removing the main tank a pain in the ass. I just replaced my swingarm and PDS bearings and I find it much easier without the tank. I would say removing and replacing the tank was the hardest part of the entire job.

IMHO if you can do without the extra range for 80% of your rides I wouldn't install one. It's easier to carry some extra fuel elsewhere for the small number of times you need it. If however you do a lot of long range riding then there is no question, this is the best solution out there. Not only for the 'bergs, but I don't think there is any solution for any bike that comes close.

I like it even for shorter rides as the weight of the same amount of fuel has lower center of gravity.

I actually found it to be detremental to the bikes handling and took it off. I lasted about 4 rides and just got more frustrated with the tail end dropping half way through a slow corner in single trail as the fuel shifted around.

The tank overall was good but it affected the handling too much for my type of riding.

Need to replace the hose for the vent line, any advice on what type of 1/4" hose to buy?

Just bought a bike with the Aux tank on it. Hoping someone could help me out with a few things. How do I fill the tank so both tanks completely fill up? I went to the gas station and filled it up. But when the Aux tank filled it started leaking gas everywhere. Thought it was coming out of the aux filler cap but it was coming out of the Aux vent hose.

Also, how do I tell what generation 70 degree tank it is?

Kinda nervous about this thing being so close to the exhaust with out a heat shield.

You should connect the aux tanks vent hose to the vent hose on the main tanks filler cap. Do not use the "aux filler cap"!! Fill the bike the normal way and the subtank will slowly get filled and at the end some fuel will go up the vent hose closer to the filler cap. That doesn't matter and is all ok. You should check that the previous owner removed the ball from the filler cap hat functions as a check valve. If not it can create problems.
I have the vent hose running along the right side edge of the seat, then inside the airbox up to the filler cap where it's tee'd in with the oem vent hose.

Don't be nervous regarding the proximity to the exhaust, it's made of the same plastic as the oem sub frame.
