Need to replace the hose for the vent line, any advice on what type of 1/4" hose to buy?

Just bought a bike with the Aux tank on it. Hoping someone could help me out with a few things. How do I fill the tank so both tanks completely fill up? I went to the gas station and filled it up. But when the Aux tank filled it started leaking gas everywhere. Thought it was coming out of the aux filler cap but it was coming out of the Aux vent hose.

Also, how do I tell what generation 70 degree tank it is?

Kinda nervous about this thing being so close to the exhaust with out a heat shield.

You should connect the aux tanks vent hose to the vent hose on the main tanks filler cap. Do not use the "aux filler cap"!! Fill the bike the normal way and the subtank will slowly get filled and at the end some fuel will go up the vent hose closer to the filler cap. That doesn't matter and is all ok. You should check that the previous owner removed the ball from the filler cap hat functions as a check valve. If not it can create problems.
I have the vent hose running along the right side edge of the seat, then inside the airbox up to the filler cap where it's tee'd in with the oem vent hose.

Don't be nervous regarding the proximity to the exhaust, it's made of the same plastic as the oem sub frame.

How much fuel is left in your subtanks when your fuel light comes on or when you hit empty?
My tank, latest version, seems to have a decent amount of fuel left in subtank when light comes on, and engine will die with fuel still left in subtank.
Vent line is joined at cap, no ball in cap, and vent is working properly (i opened the vent cap on subtank and no air/fuel noises or movement).
I was hoping that the subtank would drain more before i run empty and the bike stops. Currently, i'd guess i'm leaving .5 gallons in the total system.

Yes it's lower then the pump. I see it as an extra when I miscalculate big time. Tilt it on the front wheel to get that last drop out of the subtank and then close the valve ( I have a small valve between the tanks) :)

Ok, need some help finding a way to route the Aux tank vent hose to the main vet hose. I think I know where its sopost to go but everything fits together so tightly I don't know how to get there with out pinching the hose.

I got 3 Ft of Fuel grade hose to use. And I am thinking about replace the black one with some of the clear I got.

I cant figure out how to remove the tank now. I unbolted everything I can see yet something is still holding it. Is it connected directly to the Aux tank?

I couldn't find a path so I was going to route it under the tank but now I cant figure out how to get the thing off. I don't want to have to remove the Aux tank as-well. I really just need enough room to run the vent hose.

Also found that one of the shroud bolts is striped in the tank. Hope that thing dosent leak gas out of there now. I cant even get the bolt out just keeps turning.

Right now The shrouds are off, Sub frame is off "Not the Aux tank", and I took the battery out. From what I see it dosent appear to have any more bolts on the main tank.

Sub frame is off "Not the Aux tank"

? Sub frame and aux tank should be the same thing.

The sub frame / 70 degree tank is held in place with 3 bolts and the black frame on top.

Imo there's no need to remove the tank(s) to route the vent hose. If I was home I could take some pictures of my routing but I'm not. Maybe someone else here can be so kind? If not try to find the installation manual online.

I also have problems with rotating bolts for the plastics. It's not very well made there... I used some superglue to make the threaded insert stick. Good enough to keep it in place but I'm afraid it will come loose when I try to unscrew the bolts...

Thanks, Today I finally had time to really dig into it. I routed the vent hose to the left side of the battery tray. Went down from there. Followed the wiring back up under the air box. Than feed it up in between the frame. Seriously this could not have been more complicated. But I didn't need to remove the tanks to do it after all. Took a whole 5 feet of fuel line to do....And I made sure here wasent any give anywhere aswell.

By sub-frame I was referring to that bar.

Need to replace the hose for the vent line, any advice on what type of 1/4" hose to buy?

I just replaced my vent line too. I looked around and found a really good line at tractor supply. It was 5' of fuel line for $6. Not bad. The line itself was even blue so it matched nicely. I ended up using the whole 5' for mine.

Need some help with my Aux tank. My bike's fuel light came on and it died on me. Thought the Aux tank as empty too. But it looks like the Aux tank was actually full. So It looks like my Aux tank isn't feeding into the main tank. Anyone know how to fix this?

Look for a kink in the fuel hose connecting the two tanks, but my guess is that it's clogged up somewhere in the lowpoint at the alu-pump housing.

If an obvious kink in the hose is not the culprit then I would gently put air pressure on the breather hose on the subframe and see if whatever can be pushed to the main tank. If not I would try it the other way (but then it will probably find it's way back and get stuck again..). If that doesnt work I guess you need to do more to find the clog, maybe even removing the fuel pump housing to clean it up.

I was thinking that someone out their must have the talent to make an sub tank out of aluminum for the 70d bikes ? I'd buy one

I hoped you would prove me wrong :)

I remember that the guy who did that subtank had problems finding a company with both skill and will to make that complex shape and that was one of the bigger reasons for him to quit making them.

Where do i buy a subframe tank?

Used - Hard to find. Takes searching/waiting. Success not guaranteed :) Possible to convert the stock subframe - see posts by Jon Andersson here on the forum.

There also exists a Safari "overlay" tank on top of the main tank which may actually be better for weight distribution.
