I'm just announcing nice and early the call for Force ride 5
it is to the world famous ISLE OF MAN home of the TT races.
dates
the road racing starts on Saturday 29th August 2015, the last is on Friday 4th September and the next day there is a Manx two-day trial. Essentially though 29/8 to about 5/9 covers it.
the racing is free to view from the side of the road.
here is the itinerary
Saturday 29th - classic 500TT race with McGuinness etc (we hope). first day of the Manx 2-day trial (follow them round on your bikes getting unprecedented access to places otherwise out of bounds)
Sunday 30th - a massive festival at Jurby Airfield. day 2 of manx 2-day trial
Monday 31st August - Junior Classic, Modern Classic, parade of past masters
Tuesday 1st September - green lane all day!
Wednesday 2nd Sept - Newcomers Manx GP, Junior Manx GP
Thursday 3rd September - green lane all day!also the Ramsey sprint along the promenade
Friday 4th September - lightweight (AKA supertwins) Manx GP and Senior Manx GP
Sat/Sun 5/6th is the classic manx 2-day trial (if anyone is still left there!)
the racing days are around 10.30am start to 4pm with 1.30 hours for lunch so green-laners usually trail ride to a viewing point, move on at lunchtime and set off at around 4pm for more ring through till tea-time... (just ideas)
there was an ITV programme about the who thing last Month so i'm hoping that there will be a copy on u-tube soon and anyone interested can get a flavour of it there.
cost
too early to say but a flight from Luton (return) was 220gbp this year. a car and trailer was 400gbp for two men and a trailer full of bikes. we can do this far cheaper with a van full of bikes. people can then fly in and be given a bike once they are there.
rent a house
you can rent a house on Bray Hill (stick it in U-tube) and yes I do mean a house on the course for 20gbp pPpN.
best to get to the IoM on Friday 28th for sure. to leave? boats from Friday night or better still Saturday a.m. the airport is well connected to Castletown, Douglas and Ramsey etc by a very good public transport system.
I'm looking for 8 people to do this trip. you can do the first part of the week and someone else could do the second half but the full bill for the house must be covered between you!
show interest here. YOU (not me) do some dummy quotes with boats and planes etc. a bike can be found if you want to come from abroad...
there are three motorcycle museums over there. the whole place is bike mad!
they have two electric railways, a steam railway, the laxey wheel (google it) etc.
regards
Taffy
