New info on 09 Husabergs

it's bound to be heavier. the bikes are being made to last plus emmisions. all the japs went that way first and so will husaberg. we'll go through a period where the older model will give it a run for it's money but later the newer bike will be so refined and quicker.

note the 450 bore and stroke of 95 by 64 which is what kurt nicholl has been testing for two or three years.

finally, for now, have you spotted where the oil level is checked which should tell you that the oil will be kept at the higher level and that a very technical oil circulation and scavenging system is being used. maybe it IS the same top end as the KTM but in order to design this engine the way it is they have had to use an external oil line.

Taffy

So far there is nothing about this bike that I do not like.CR of 11:9 beauty,112Kg,close enough,FI makes it possibly DOT legal.6-speed, its got road speed.
The bar just got raised thats for sure.

It certainly is a nice and interesting looking engine, but I wish they would of built a kickstarter for it.

Is that a quarter turn fuel cap?????

At least the front wheel won't hit the pipe anymore!!

Looks good. i think the plastic subframe may be very strong and probably not a nad idea.

The swingarm does not look any longer than a bike with conventional engine configuration, so i am assuming they are trying to get the CoG thing sorted out. I hope it doesn't make it top heavy like the aprilia.

Is it just me or does the ignition stick out a long way?

Overall it looks like a huge improvement, and about time too!!!! Can't wait to see one for real.

Have Fun
Jeff

Plastic subframe? That's a departure from the current sturdy set up. Anyone spot the battery?

I guess the airbox/filter is in the fake gas tank area?

I reckon that will be the fuel cell, not a fake one, just like on the 690 Baja with the plastic rear subframe and the new 690 Rallye

Any word on what displacements will be available?
450 and 570 is what I've been told. I really hope that by the time of actual release there will be a 600+ engine...

YES YES Husaberg PLEASE LISTEN there are MANY MANY buyers wating for a 600cc+ bike 8O 8O 8O 8O

I love posting the picture this way...

It also looks like a seperate conventional balancing shaft.

Hmmmm, no 650, seperate balancer shaft not crank mounted anymore (maybe).

Pressure feed to the valve train.......just like a KTM

Looks like the engineers may have taken a good hard look at the currently available engines "design features" and "improved" on them with the new one??.

I like it, but not going to be a 1st year guinea pig :)

until we can get our hands on it we wont know but i just looked at the 1 pic and thought is it just a ktm engine with the engine layed out differently.

either way think it should be yellow and black and i have never known any 1 to buy a 1st yr model from any manufacturer so well see how it sells.

but i think they have done everything they needed to, just got to get it out there now.

and glad to see some of our predictions came right. i personally predicted efi. along with every 1 else.

but i sure i also suggested a steel perimeter frame. hope the geometry is more berg than ktm.

Hey dont steal my expressions!

Is there a photo somewhere that shows whats under that black rocker cover? If not the Husaberg, at least a latest KTM.

Thanks!

KTM wouldn't like it if a new Berg outclassed their new 690! It sucks to get beat up by your little brother.

I have heard from some very reliable sources that KTM and Berg will both have a bike that runs the same 690 motor next year. They will be the same bikes in motor only though with completely different chassis.

Go back through this site and my guess would be the most troublesome engines have been the 650s.

Do you think Husaberg want to release another lightweight, overstressed engine??ie a new generation 650??and all the bad publicity that could go with it??

KTMs 690 isnt based on the same "platform" as the 450/530s, I wouldnt expect Husaberg to do the same again.

They might make it available to the die hards as a "ForceParts" crank/barrel combo, for the guys who really want to have a lightly constructed big HP engine, and are expected to pay for it, build it and maintain it accordingly.

Just my guess

completly disagree with you...............

talking to both Valley Force, OrangeBerg, Woody at Race MC in Alice and Sunset MC, the 650 is actually the most relaible in FE format, and the 450 the most problematic.

Yes as FS's there is lots of 650 grief on the site here, but how much is that due to the on road use of an offroad designed motor etc......

the current 650 already does that, lighter, faster etc etc

Probably a lot :)

but, 650 grief is 650 grief, regardless of whether its in FE or FS format. And spans ALL 650s- from inception to current models.

And you must include the rest of the world when it comes to reliability- not just the small amount of Bergs sold in Australia.

That is why I said "go back through this site". Because when people research Husabergs, they invaribly end up here, and search/browse info from worldwide Husaberg owner useage- whether good or bad.

So the question is- why havent Husaberg listed a 628/650 cc variant of the new engine?
What is the reason?, I've had my guess
