:D

OK. Any word about supermoto?

570 is OK, but 6fiddy would be waaay better!

Anyway, muy 8)

am i missing a trick here but how is the CoG improved like this?

the crank is higher?

everything else looks the business!

regards

Taffy,

I wonder if the dropped cylinder arrangement offsets the CoG effects of lifting the crank assembly...

Certainly a trick looking piece of work

Didn't one of the Japanese boys stack the crank like this on one of their inline 4's? - I am sure I have seen this arrangement before somewhere...

Cheers

I was walking that path too and made the concluision that there is no way they would make the new engine with a higher CoG. The CoG is guaranteed lower than the old one but not as low as one first do think.
The real advantage comes, I think, with a shorter engine that allows a more optimal placed engine lenghtwise in the bike. A longer swing arm with the same wheelbase or even shorter wheelbase is another advantage. Also, the under seat tank adds to a lower CoG overall.

If someone took the time to make a little PS-job and place the engines next to each other we can really see the differences...

I'm guessing you're thinking of the engine in the R1 that got a triangular layout of the engine.

Does this make you feel better Taff?

have you seen that rocker cover? it's angled up on the RHS away from the camwheel? can't recall ever seeing that before?

As a german i have some questions. What is a PS job and what is CoG. Words i wont find in my dictionary.

Well at least we´ll have to wait to here more about the bike. Of course i like to know more about power and torque in relation to rpm. Hopefully the 570 is a 570 and not a 520 or stuff like that. But as i wrote, the KTM 560 engine can be tuned up to 630ccm. And the 590 kit has arround 70 Hp. Unfortunatly it´ll take time till we´ll get the oportunity to buy a kit.

I would gander that a majority of the weight can be found in the secondary shafts (aka tranmission shafts). I would also guess that maybe the flywheel weight has moved to a secondary shaft? I am thinking that this geometry does better for placing the reciprocating mass (axis) through the Center of Gravity, thus eliminating much of the vibrations, and possibly the counterbalancer (with that weight). Also gained is the lack of a kickstart mechnism.

Jocke, can you text your buddy to have him hop the rope and pick up the motor to see if he can shot put it? I'm guessing that htey shed a ton of weight from the motor.

Everything is indeed reversed, not only 90 degrees forward, but also 180 degrees sideways.

The left side drive change is a little sad in a way, because there is nothing in the books of physics that says a motorcycle has to be left side driven. I liked the originality of the current design. This is not a big issue but it's turning your back against a Swedish tradition that only Italian-owned Husqvarna will carry on.

Working on the top end is going to be such a mess, unless you can remove the front radiator quickly and without emptying it. But then you're going to tell me that you will not need to do it anymore, that it's going to be very reliable (I think they said that in 2001).

Also that black top cover(which I hope is magnesium tinted and not painted black), is obviously not a "rocker-holder" cover (unlike the current one), which means the rockers must be held in place by some sort of bracket inside.

I wonder what the brass-colored rod is that runs by what is now the under side. Maybe some sort of protection for the starter motor (now relocated in the front) or for the spark plug connector, which I guess is also protected by that black cover.

As for the air intake, obviously EFI, and it seems to be placed under the seat, which means we are not losing all of the Husaberg traditional design features.

Now, where is the kicker? What if I brake the magic button? Do I have an extra security button or do I need to carry my buddy tow?

Logo?

Errr...

Anybody noticed _new_ Husaberg logotype all over the bike (engine cover, seat, fork protectors)?

I think that is an oil pipe. Unfortunately not located inside the engine, but not a big disadvantage.
The electric starter is not arranged in a damageable position. Besides the exhaust manifold is also kind of a protector.
And the lower frame tubes. For a full protection there can and will be a bash plate underneath the frame, I think.

The new Husaberg logo (writing) looks great. Some sort of evil.

Guys, looking at this pic in more detail, at the risk of stating the obvious, I think you have to rotate it about 90 deg anticlockwise to get the idea. Look at where the sprocket is.
