New info on 09 Husabergs

It's the KTM 450SX head and barell backwards...

No it isn't it is the SOHC of the EXC range. The SX head is different as it is DOHC.

Absolutely beautiful, I bet that the handling is incredible. If only I had enough spare change in my pockets......

2008 KTM 450EXC-R...

New Husaberg has KTM doch sylinder head.
KTM inlet valve is 40.4mm and exhaust is 35.5mm
570cc engine is 100mm bore and 72mm stroke
450cc is 95mm bore......

It does look good. Mass centralisation is I guess the objective. Remember too that low CoG is not necessarily what is required, but the CoG and the mas should be positioned on the roll axis, at least that seems to be what is needed in road racing

The design has many benefits. The stacked transmission is short and compact, and acts as an oil reservoir, now the crank and ignition do not have to contain (and spin in) oil, thus the engine can rev freer. I can't tell where the battery is located, but under the header would lower the weight of the lead anchor. The fuel cell (think sloshing weight) is now centralized right over the f/r pivot (balance) point, while being place low. My 496 waits for it's new little brother (450) to enter the shop.

Frame very much like the Vertemati and fuel tank under seat as well ?

Ok, one question to those 'in the know' What about that frame? Is it aluminum? They seem to have abandoned the tubular design. Whhat happened to all the open space. I like the look, just am wondering why they chose to make things more clustered? Kinda like a crf styled frame.

The lack of free space and more cluttered look is probably due to the new fuel-injection components.

I'm looking forward to the FI but I'll miss the simple uncluttered look for the carbed bikes.
I'm guessing you're thinking of the engine in the R1 that got a triangular layout of the engine.
I think you might be right..

The Honda 50 pictures made me chuckle :D

Cheers

Sorry. For now that is as good as it gets.
I'd really want one myself...

Jocke, you 'da MAN! Thank you for your on the spot reporting. I smell an Edward R. Murrow Award in your future. :D

Looks like they've taken the KTM topend (bore and stroke are the same as KTM 450) and mated it with a different gearbox configuration for differentiation from KTM.
chain has moved to left which has allowed the use of the KTM Swingarm and new laid forward shock design.

Plastic subframe? That's a departure from the current sturdy set up. Anyone spot the battery?

I guess the airbox/filter is in the fake gas tank area?

They were right when they said all new. About the only thing I see resembling our old bikes is the blue and yellow colors.

Conspicuous by it's ommission in the "facts" is a weight. Of course, it probably wouldn't be accurate anyway, but I know sure would like to know. Looking forward to a ride report by someone. Considering the '08's are just getting to the US, it may be awhile.
