I have seen plenty of Pre 05 650 woes from my friends bikes. And a few of my own on my 05 650.

I noticed the external counter balancer on the new engines now that has to be a good move.

Wonder what sort of lifespan the new engine has before it needs some major loving....hopefully better ...... only time will tell...

Go back through this site and my guess would be the most troublesome engines have been the 650s.

talking to both Valley Force, OrangeBerg, Woody at Race MC in Alice and Sunset MC, the 650 is actually the most relaible in FE format, and the 450 the most problematic.

Yes as FS's there is lots of 650 grief on the site here, but how much is that due to the on road use of an offroad designed motor etc......

No 05 FS650E grief reports from me.

Unless you consider one broken exhaust valve spring at 6k miles that did no other engine damage as serious grief.

Currently up to 8300 miles and 320 engine hours. :)

Can someone please photochop this new motor into a SM bike please.

Im looking forward to some more in depth tech info on the new engine- mains configuration etc. Might be in for a long wait unfortunately I believe.

Should start a post " Mr Jens Elmwall- questions on your new engine.
I wonder if we'd get a response?

Called a US Huaberg factory guy today. He happened to ge in Milan and told me to go find pictures. I figured you guys here would have them already. The bike looks really sick. Can't wait to ride one . He said that delivery will probaby be around Dec '08.

I do hope they will get a bigger than 570 motor going. For us at www.2moto.com, we crave th power. The Berg 650 is the only one w/ lightweight and megapower. We took our '06 FE650 with our snow tracki on it to the regoinal grass-drags last weekend to show the bike. We got talked into running it with track and front ski on the drag strip. We went up against the new Can-Am Renegade 800 4x4 sport quad down the 500 ft strip. We beat it by 150 ft. The crowd was all slack-jawed when it was over. Got to love the Berg power.

Cool looking bike even if the engine is a rebadged KTM.

I sold my 2002 FE501 some time ago and never like the fact that KTM basically ***** Husaberg to make a competitive four stroke. My 2002 FE501 was light, fast, reliable and never overheated. I am in the market for a new 2008 and it was between Husky and TM. Now I have to add this 2009 HBG to the list. Anyone know when it will be available?

I really wish Husaberg was still an indy manufacturer.

Are you sure that it's not the KTM that has been rebadged.... Only it got presented before the 'Berg. It has happened before.
Not saying it IS like that just wanted to bring the thought to the surface...

The swedish web-mag I got some of the pics from talked about the bike going into production late 2008.

How is it a rebadged KTM?

who gives a toss what it is called ??

I dont......all I am interested in is how it handles and performs...

it could be a yamikawakbergTMcati for all I care !

it's the most beautiful thing i've seen, I still hope it comes in a 250; and if it doesn't maybe a 380 kit, anyway, I will get one no matter what as soon as they are available.

well i'm prepared to take the risk ... i will be the owner of the 1st 09 model in west aust .

the 570 version will do .

the bike looks great , so what if it has teething issues , we have the 12 month warranty to fall
back on ...right

RE:

I notice the new bike 2009 450 has a compression ratio of 11.9:1 where the 2008 Berg 450 has a compression ratio of 13:1.
This difference in lowering the compression ratio can only be a good thing I would think.
