i went to the dirt bike show today and went straight to work on the sherco stand. 30 minutes later big jim and chris ginn (AKA cranksnapper when he finally does his first post!)
came by and said "you won't believe the husaberg stand!

what?

well you know a new berg is 5-7?

yeh!
well they're selling brand spanking new '08s for £3,993!

you have got to be phucking kidding me!

nope! 3.9.9.5!

i'm set to buy a one-year old '07 for 4k so what do i do now? need to have a word with M.. ....!

WHEN A NEW BIKE IS MARKED DOWN IN THE UK AS BEING IN THE REGION OF 5-5 TO 5-8, CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME wtfIh THEY ARE DOING KNOCKING THEM OUT FOR £3,995? I DIDN'T STOP BUT I THINK THEY WERE SELLING BOTH FE450/550 FOR THAT SUM. CAN'T RECALL THE SMs.

the dealer on the stand is a new husey dealer called ...... pope of (i think) plymouth or portsmouth. anyway, didn't recognise any of the other husaberg faces there. stand had two enduro and two SM stood there. nothing else. zilch.

i later talked to veteran of the trade who said that the trade desperately needed enthusiasm from the dealers to invigorate the customers. were husaberg thinking that? nope!

I'VE BEEN A MEMBER HERE 6 YEARS AND I CAN'T RECALL A SADDER DAY IN THE UK THAN THIS. and what with dan etc i think they really have lost their tiny phucking minds!

yours

very, very sadly indeed

Thats $5847.00 converted from Euro's to USD. Not exactly a blow out but almost.

****. thats less than a grand more than i paid for my 2nd hand '06. im in tears.

is it just me or does it look like they're trying to ditch everything before the ship goes
down!

the dealer could be Trevor pope ktm from hampshire. could this combined with the news about uk berg dealers mean that ktm uk is trimming the fat. oh dear.

so what have they just done to the 2nd hand market i thought ktm were going to stabalise it
anyone who has one now wont be able to sell to buy a new one

getting :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

£3995 converted to usd is $7,707 at the current exchange rate.

but your saying that £2000 or $3,858 knocked straight off a brand new bike is not a blowout! then i'd like to go to the shop you use.

whatever it cant be a good sign.

TODAYS FOREX RATE IS:
1 usd = 1.4638 Euro

3995 x 1.4638= 5847.88

Isn't that correct?

we dont use euro in the uk were still on £. and its currently $2 to the £

I thought that symbol meant Euro, looks kinda like an E..............my error

well i've just sent off another E-mail to a couple of peeps who might have some more info.
will have to follow up with phone calls in the morning to see if we can get any firm info on the dealer and pricing issues, i'll update as soon as i get some info.

in the mean time taffy, do some more diggin at the show.

digging!

i'm going to bury the c_ _t on the katoom stall!

for you not to say which dealer means you aren't 100% sure i presume!

johnny - why else would we cry at a bike being 30% cheaper? normally we'd be happy.

it won't last forever but long enough to screw with all the used values. that really is disgusting?

as you say fraser, if £1,750 off of £5,750 isn't a yard sale - what is?

as for you eric not knowing this sign - £ oh boy! what can i say!

i can't do euros on my keyboard so i just use a capital E = E130 etc.

anyone know what this is though - $ ? looks really weird and i could swear i've seen it somewhere before? LOL!

regards

Taffy

no, it was SS Racing i spoke to and he confirmed it but also stated it was a ktm UK **** up and that its a long story. will prob pop in on saturday to get the info

i guessed that actually.

let me see, when i started in 2001 there were four plus one dealers in the UK.

SS racing
gary grover racing
dave clarke racing
jim aim motorcycles

and

SR off-road

now all 5 are gone.

amazing.

they must be throwing everything out let alone the baby....

Its the mark of the devil.

MMM no good mate looks like 2nd hand Bergs in the UK will be worth less than they already were..... and that must make em pretty low now...

imagine how people would feel if they bought a new one a couple of weeks ago

limbo limbo like me !

i paid $7000 for my 04 fe450 about 18 months ago, i recently was offerd $7000 for it . I am pretty happy that it appears the value of bergs in Aus may be on the up.

Whatever they're doing someone needs to go back to business 101.....

I mean this is fundamental stuff.

How to lose a market in one fell swoop - drop the list price of a new bike hugely, kill the aftermarket values and ditch all your loyal and extremely knowledgeable dealers and piss all their very well known to be loyal and quirky customers off.

In addition what they do is a world wide press launch of a totally new bike over a year ahead of its real launch so they completely kill the next year's sales. How on earth they hoped to keep people's excitement going for a whole year with all this ***** going on at the same time, I don't know.

10 years of really hard work by people to build this berg brand up and they're simply strangling it. How can anyone have any faith?

I once had some respect for KTM in how they brought themselves back from the brink of collapse in the early 90s, it is a very different case now.

In relation to this I was recently watching "The long way down" and reminded that when Ewan McGregor and Charlie were planning their first trip round the world in "The long way round", KTM pulled the plug on them at the last minute, telling them they thought they weren't going to make it and didn't want their bikes associated with failure! BMW stepped in instead.

The arrogance is beyond me.....
