Can they do that with these clinders without damaging nicasil not much sense to do it if it costs almost as much as another piston :p
I am looking around for cp piston and found a site where it's listed for 220€ I asked them if they can get me a 99.95mm piston but no response yet...

Nah, I dont think you can do much to the nicasil, but Ill be clear and say I dont know, its bloody hard material yes.
The CP piston from thumper is reasonably priced no? I think it was in the range of €2200 delivered, but I bought that a year ago before the swedish crown lost value, this is a drop in for your stock bore, rings needed filing but nothing more.
Same outer ID as the oem piston I removed, that by the way looked new after 150 hours of ice punishing.

Thumper cp is 325$ and than ad shipping and custom Tax I dont think it would be cheaper....

that could be a classic denial of purchase value from me ...:) not the first time lalalallala

How the **** do you get the main bearings out of there:devil:
I removed the bearing seals no problem a little tab with size 32 socket and there out...
I put my cases in the oven 200° and pored some cold water on the bearing to get it out shake around with my cases and than there was another bearing falling out but not the one that needs to come out...
Also there no socket that fits to hit it out the hole of the seal is only slightly bigger than the inner hole of the crank bearing:rolleyes:
So I tryed using an old oilfilter (stupid idea) but it was the best thing I could find but I just destroyed the oil filter and some balls inside the bearing.
I already looke on youtube how to remove crank bearings but nothing there works....
Maybe the other side will go better but the whole house stinks from heating the case in the oven:unsure::p

Just did a 2nd attempt heated the cases and turn them upside down hitting with rubber hammer al bearings dropped out except the crank bearing:spin:
What is air duster can?

Not sure what an air duster can is. Think the idea is to freeze shrink the bearing race.
I used a big copper drift to punch the races out with the rollers still attached after heating the case.

I just payed the customs bill for the rod...
shipping + customs was about 50€ but the rod was way cheaper compared to the price here so I think I saved myself about 70€ ordering in belgium:cool:
Thx to shipito:)

In a couple of days ;) delivery is scheduled on monday but I will not be at home so hopefully I can collect it on tuesday :)

Well the delivery guy just ringed my doorbell guess what...

The complete crank with rod installed weighed 5.22kg so when I get the crank back I will know if the carillo is lighter or not;)

such a heavy keychain.

Air duster can is like compressed air in a can used to clean computers from dust. Turn it upside down and it sprays cold air, but depletes quickly.

Or you could just use a cold spray can. :s

I want to give my crank to someone to install the new rod/bearings...
But he asked me if the crank has shims between the bearings to get correct axial play that need to be measured in the case and selected accordinlgy...
I never heard of this on these motors so I guess there are no shims and installing rod/new bearings is pretty basic/straightforward or is it????

yup!

The repair manual discusses this a bit! The '09 manual isn't SUPER clear, but it shows what worstinfinland is saying.

Sorry... was away. Air duster as in the compress air can you get at an office supply store to blow your lunch crumbs out of your computer keyboard or dust off of electronics boards. They have the nozzle straw and when you turn them upside down the propellant comes out instead of "air" and the propellant is super cold. Point that at your bearing.

I use a heat gun (hot air) on the casings usually instead of the oven etc.
