Look at the gaps on the rings it's very tight getting the piston in....

This is what I found in the manual but that says max clearance couldn't find minimum clearance and my dealer had no idea to but he hought it would be to tight...

G'day Page 121

Yes nice and tight.

Fwiw I filed my rings back to. 015" or. 381mm (CP piston)

If you have a group 2 piston, then the bore needs enlarging to suit. The end gap is specced to balance sealing and growth of the rings due to thermal expansion. Not enough and the ends will butt up and pinch off. Too much and you'll have excessive blowby.

Less than or equal to is a bit vague.

If your piston to bore clearance is within the specs above then the end gaps should be correct.

I think ordering rings from group one will be best the old compression ring only has 0,27 clearance in the liner.

When i fit new piston in liner without rings i have about 0,06 clearance between piston and cilinder 0.05 feels pretty loose the old one is around 0.08
I got the compression ring of the old piston without problems but it took a lot of effort getting the comp ring of the new piston so I used the screwdriver and broke it I suck should have brought the entire bike to te shop lol

Your new.piston is group 2?
Yes it's group 2 when I put in one 0.04mm gage in one end where the skirt of the piston is it's very tight /impossible to get 0.05mm in the other side
When I put the gages on the sides where there is no skirt material I get 0.06 in easily

A few pages back there were some good suggestions for other piston makes that weigh less. If its a cp you're after then go direct to the source.
Thumper racing is in holiday till monday next week...
I also got no reply from them the last days when I was asking them my order status and if the payment was ok...
But my carillo rod order is processed:cool:
About pistons check page 19 in this thread maybe if I wasn't so impatient I would have ordered a wossner piston instead less than 200€ for e great quality piston there are even cheaper options but in the long run it's better to pay for a better piston IMO

Its very difficult to tell what clearances you have with feeler guages. Have the piston and bore mic'ed, do the math and then go from there. Clarify that and then the ring end gaps might make sense.

Hey 570 guys can any of yous tell me the the head bolt spacing for the 570 motor? need to know reasonably accurately.

Thanks spanner

Are measurements of a unused Cometic head gasket enough?

How accurate do you want? I don't really know how to practically measure, as in from where to where and what would be the pitfalls? Guidance gratefully accepted :)

I was thinking I could scan it in and afterwards measure the physical gasket with calipers - semi-crappy mechanical calipers is all I have - from each bolt hole to the others? Trying to keep it as flat as possible during.

I can probably borrow better measurement gear or toss the gasket to someone to have it measured.

Probably HusaBELGfs570 is in a better position to measure but I'll for sure do anything that's useful.

I can measure the head if yo want but It will not be acurate to 0.1 mm
I do'nt have the tools but I can give you the dimesions form hole center to hole center in mm if that is accurate enoegh ;)
have to find a place to measure my cilinder my dealer can't do it:rolleyes:

Thanks gentlemen :)

I want to know if it is the same pitching as the earlier Berg`s a ruler would
do just need to measure from the edge of the hole to the edge of the next hole
on the gasket would be good.
The holes on the earlier Berg`s are in a rectangle rather than an exact square.

Here is the 628 gasket,

98mm

88mm
