The thing with dyno testing and hp numbers is not the actual numbers and how big they are, but the shape of the curves and the measured results of tuning changes to the curves. Make a change, and as long as all else is equal, you can get a measure of the effectiveness of the change, but it still must be rideable. Use the same tyre all the time for consistancy, its like correcting for atmospheric conditions which is a normal partb of the process. My dyno guy uses the one tyre on all his dirt bikes and fits it before doing his thing because of the variations in slip and energy used to deform knobs on the rollers. Its just an old cross ply road tyre, and from memory it had East German origins, I can't remember the brand but used to come on MZs.
