Hey Baja, June maybe, but July/Augaust is very dry and if we have not had any rain,the trails could be closed due to fire danger as that is the only way China Hat gets shut down. September and October has some trails closed for the Deer hunters as well, but thats not an issue here.

At the time of this post the Forest service web site is down for maintenance, but it has worked well for me in the past. Or I can mail a trail head map to those interested.
Also, look at the CampII and Road 25 staging area, as that would be the area I would think we will stage out of, and is the closest to Bend.
We will also want to start thinking about how we are gonna get Schwim and Bro out here, as a Force ride is not complete with out them.

Hey Stove-, You forgot ABQ only 3 hours from you, but maybe not a Major Airport to many. Here is a pic for Taffy of only one nice view in Colorado, mostly easy roads to get there but some side trail to keep you dabb'n. The elevation of the pic is 12,008 ft. by my garmin barometric altimeter. just above Engineer Pass. No special jetting but few sputters @ 12K is to be expected.

i really think this isn't about where but getting someone to organise a site and give us the info of that site.
if someone walked in right now and said here, this is the diner, bar, campsite, hotel, fuel; station and i've been and here are the photos.
i reckon it'd be a done job. i also think you're hearing too much of me but i don't want this to die and i don't want us to go around in circles either.

I could almost make this one happen by myself. Many riding area's all within an hour or so of a major metro area. Very OHV friendly.
Weather is at a premium from November-March.
Lots of riding area's are mapped and marked.
Large base of berg riders, unfortunately not many participate with the site.The ones that do participate are stellar though.
The biggest minus is that it is not centrally located....oh, and cactus

I don't know alot about the riding there. From what I have been led to believe it is not logistically friendly. I am not clear on the whole green sticker red sticker thing either.
We do have alot of members there though. If they would like to see it there they will have to speak up.
Colorado
Looks like fantastic riding and scenery. I have never heard anybody complain about the riding there. We have more than a few strong members there. I would really like to see a few guy's step up and try to make this happen.
Downside is unpredictable weather. It also seems to be along way for everybody....unless you live there
Oregon
Diverse riding. Seems motorcycle friendly. BOSS and a few of the other guys up there feel certain they can make it work. Logistics seem like they may be alittle touchy.
Oregon seems like a definite possibility.
Utah
Utah will alway's get a vote from me. We have been out there twice and for me, it's always a good time. A moderate to long drive for all, but very OHV friendly.
Again, I could help with the logistics again. The weather seem's to be very predictable.
Well, that's my 2 cents for the time being. Hopefully we can get some more opinions and input.
Who wants to declare a winner? Schwim you provide adult supervision but it sounds like a choice between two places; Pacific Northwest or Colorado. Either has epic riding but both have plus' and minus'.

i stuck the deerhunter on again the other night. i know that in that film they must be from pittsburgh on the north west coast but that's the kind of riding i'd like - anytime of year!

Here are some of my thoughts on Force ride 3
Oregon for me is primo and our friends from Canada could readily participate bummer
part is that riders from south and east have long haul, having the event on forest service land we might have to have a event permit with all it in requires
Colorado is awesome place and it is almost in center of the US so every one in states
would have fair chance to attend it would however be be long haul for the Canadians
also the season for a event like this is rather short, to find a resort that could handle us all with peak tourist at the same time might tough
Arizona is stunning with all the canyons and diverse landscape having lived there the only
time would be nov. thru mar. that would tough travel for me and any one else from north
the chance of snow storm is while traveling is good having done that it would be something that I would think twice before do, a year like we Had this year in the northwest it would be impossible for me to find my to AZ
Idaho could be nice spot for the event but there not many of us to organize the event
and some areas awesome trails but could be rather intimidating for novice riders
no matter where we decide lodging eating and potential permit is going to take some effort to overcome

Viking, no worries about the ride being on Forrest service land, or needing permits, this is the UNofficial husaberg force ride, nothing more than a bunch of friends getting together and riding. Permits are only needed for racing or organized (advertised public) events, we do this kind of thing all the time.
You should see the Forrest Service rangers face when they pull in and see one of BOSS's runs! The whole riding area is a ghost town accept one staging area has 200 people in it! The rangers don't have a single thing to say about it, it's just Rick has a lot of friends, who also have a lot of friends, and they bring a friend etc. The look on the Rangers face says"there is something wrong here, but i can't quite figure out who to pin it on" so they ask around trying to figure out whats going on, and all they get is "I am just here riding with my buddies" so the ranger leaves looking rather confused, as to why everybody decided to stage out of the same area. It is kinda funny, but in reality, that is what the area is for, and there is nothing Illegal about it.

I think this permit thing is a discretionary interpretation of the local forest ranger if he
is a motorized loving fellow we most likely wont have a problem, but if he a offspring of
the sierra club it could very well become a problem, bottom line is I don't know your
ranger but I hope you do know him well
we have a ride here in spring where we ride 35 miles to town south of us then back home
this ride have going on for over 30 years. in the late ninety's we got a new ranger and
he wanted to make stand since they where 75 riders it had to be organized ride keep in
mind there had never been entry form or anything to make it organized this is what we
where told if you advertise, take an entry, or even order up honey bucket it is a organized event, now this ranger is the sierra type ranger the previous ranger was the
opposite, so our solution to the problem was to say that we are not going to ride this year and then I would tell my buddy that I was going do the ride next weekend than he
would tell his friend he was going to the ride next weekend and on and on it would be told.
all I am saying you better sure who you are dealing with

Viking, that is correct, if we bring in any honeybuckets, the gig is up! Otherwise, the ranger is a good guy, he rides and his wife is very active in protecting public access to public land. I believe we would be safe in fifty or so rider range without any permits.
