another valued opinion i suggest will be velo's when he happens upon this thread.

Velo? That guy's a drunken lecherous *****. So it makes sense that you would value his opinion, lol.

Seriously, China Hat (oregon) has an awful lot going for it. AFAIK, it's about 20 mins or more into town tho. I've only been there to race, and we just camped. The logistics of staying somewhere w/o onsite hotels need to be dealt with, but I'm sure many folks would camp, and the bikes could stay at camp, so hotel-dwellers could carpool out in the morning perhaps? The willingness of boss to step up to the plate is a huge point in favor of oregon. Plus the area has maps readily available, and is well-signed, so even furriners will be able to go out riding w/o a local guide.

The riding at china hat is fun, but not difficult for experts. I think it is more accessible and enjoyable for mixed-skill groups than moab. That is big plus, imho.

Are we set on march? That definitely limits the available areas, but that's ok if it's a convenient time for folks to travel.

Honestly, the most important part of the whole event (I learned this the hard way) is the camaraderie and getting together with other folks. Great and new scenery is important, and good riding is important, but getting together is the main thing.

For me, personally, anywhere in the west is doable.

I would like be counted in for this event, depending on exact dates involved, and put my vote in for anywhere in the Oregon - Utah - NorCal area (similar to the Bermuda triangle as far as the Cali part). Early May time frame would get my greatest attention and depending on the better half's attitude may be able to offer ride/campground accomodations from SoCal. Looking forward to hearing more details. JD

Is there anywhere in the central U.S. we can have it? seems it would be fair to everyone to do it that way. Yes I realize there are more berglers on the west coast, but we are KTM heaven here in the Midwest. here in central Ohio there is 1 fed and 1 state park riding areas. Not much info online about Perry state forest, but Wayne national park has like a 60 mi. loop, plus a few side trails. If we ask really nicely there are a couple private enduro clubs here that has private property. there are plenty of campgrounds and hotels depending upon your preference. from central Ohio thru West Virginia and Kentucky thru the Carolina's, just follow the Appilation mountain range and the foothills. there are tons of riding areas, some tight single track to wide open areas to just climbing hills. i know Ohio isn't the middle of the country, but I have no idea what Kansas and mo. offer as far as riding. Plus in Pickerington ohio (where I live) is the AMA museum and headquarters. If it rains we could spend a day at the museum or since your here already take a day to go thru it.......it is worth the time. I could probably get the guy who wrote the article on the 08 550 in the ama magazine to join us. If you didn't read it...he really liked it. I was in the same ktm ride he was in when he rode the 550 to do the article. we were the only 2 bergs there. i did meet another member from husabrg.org that lives around Akron, but i am sorry I can't remember his name. Just throwing out ideas.......there are tons of riding areas from central Ohio thru the Carolina's from the expert to the not so expert. Plus imagine the stares we would get from everyone else as a group of bergs went by them, unless they have seen me there they most likely haven't seen a berg in person, might help sales by a few bikes a year. Oh wait........we don't have a berg dealer around here.....

Well Ken asked for it........ Weighing in from south west Colorado. We would love to host the event here. The issues would be, not very close to any "real" airports and if you want to ride the high country and mountain passes, that is a mid July to end of August time frame to let the snow melt. Check with Buzzard for other opinions and locations, but Silverton comes to mind there are hotels and resturants there, also close is the mineral creek campground, which can accomodate travel trailers and motorhomes(no hook ups). There are Alot of old mines and some ghost towns around. Many photo opportunities (you think Moab is scenic) There could also be a semi-dual sport ride over the pass to Lake City for a lunch and look around then ride back. Again we are not homers where ever it is we are willing to travel, would like to echo Velo's comment, it's really not so much about where we go, it's about who you are with and who you will meet. Riding pales in comparison to drinking whiskey around the fire with Taffy and Berger !

yep we need guys to say the place and the campsite like you have done it and know it. saying an area isn't hitting the right buttons so i invite some to try again by working out a plan. and please say how far to the nearest international airport if you could be so good!

velo on freinds = 100% and does repeat a view i shared last year as we asked then 'where too?'.

a trick that's being missed is that boss is offering to front some of the work.

someone needs to know the area
tell us in detail
give us all the info to make an informed choice

someone has to be prepared to put some time in.

i really would like some challenging riding again. i'm not going to say march again but once you get outside that time the families go on holiday, money leaves the wallet and numbers drop off.

so is it somewhere on the same lattitude as moab we need? still in march? i think we need steep hills and/or mountains don't we?

maybe oregon but a better place. let's be honest, first thing in the morning was a proper dogs breakfast! by the third morning last year, velo just had to head off and prayed he had a group! we were all hung over! imagine a cold climate and alcohol (ouch!), wet rocks and ,most of all living 20-30 minutes away in a hotel?

that can't be right can it? we gotta be together surely? can we not agree that before anything so come close by accomodation is a must. so a combo of lodge/hotel/RV/ a diner/fuel.

we have the whole of the USA to look at fellas!

i guess that oregon gets the canook vote (unless your from the east - in which case sorry!) ready for the fryguy coup de grace for 2011!!!

just some more thought provoking ideas.

Well I can not speek for food choices, but the climate in central oregon is VERY simmilar to moab, the rest of this is right on the money.

All,

To osubuckeye's post, the last 2 events took place on the left coast due to the lack of response or interest from anyone in the East. No one wanted to stand up and make the commitment for the events at any other location.

This time around, BOSS has offered to organize our event at China Hat in Oregon if we choose to go in that direction. That would include some help from other UHE members as well I'm sure.

What is being asked from the UHE members by Taffy, is for members to offer up real information on known riding/camping/eating/lodging areas. What time of the year would be best and the nearest major airport for those needing to fly in to attend.

I also know how much effort it takes to get this off the ground and it can't be done by just 1 person. A lot of people are dependent upon this information being accurate.

Colorado sounds like it could be a nice destination as well. The Arizona desert or even Idaho. I would like to ride someplace where we could end up at Ghost Town or something like that.

Any dual sport stuff for those with street legal bikes?

Mike

Colorado in early August/late July would get my vote. Still in the West, but much more accesible for those of us not on the West Coast.

A late summer date is better for me (less of my kids activities to deal with). In March, four days is about all I can swing at one time, so there is no way I could get up to China Hat from West Texas. That would be a shame too, 'cause I had so much run fun riding with Boss and all the others in Moab.

The 2007 Force Ride far exceeded my expectations--from the door prize (and I mean SWEET door prizes)-laden dinner at the Brewery to the obvious hard work put in by the volunteer organizers, to the support from the dealers (see door prizes above), but mostly the camraderie (sp?) with all the other Husaberg guys.

I camped beside Buzzard and his friend Brett--never met the two or talked to them in my life--and 20 minutes later I was suiting up with them for a quick ride before dusk. Felt just like riding with my friends back home.

Truly a great experience and not to be missed if possible.

Bigbob, why in the he!! weren't you at work today. While the rest of us were working you were out playing, not cool..

just thought I would post a little tease. weather's been just right lately and so I took a day off, Our spring season is full on now.

i've suddenly realised how much the views and the ride mean to me. coming from the UK, to justify it, you want the lot! riding through woods is ok but.....

anyway, let's see how we go!

Taffy

that was quite funny for you froggy!

nice one!

Just chiming in from Akron Ohio. Sad to say no riding areas close(within 100 miles or 161Km worthy of a LARGE group ride. Taffy and all if you are looking for awesome riding than www.trailsheaven.com. Bar none this is the best riding any where east of the Mississippi many towns, campgrounds hotels motels BARS!! and Great Steaks. The trails are well marked for each difficulty level form beginners (logging roads) to expert (goat trails) and everything in between. Lots of scenic views towns you can ride your Husaberg
right into pull to the pump fill stop at the diner and back into the trail system. The web page has allot of info for there, pics and streaming videos. Where ever the ride is I am going to do all I can to come (drive) I hope not to earthquake land (California) I have no
problem helping with what I can, all that is needed is to ask.
Thanks
Ear

YES I HAVE BEEN HERE! Excellent riding I have been to the Carolinas , Georgia, Pennsylvania and the Wane National Forest. By far the best riding and riding support
has been West Virginia, anyone living in the east knows the trails.

Has anyone herd of the Piute trail in central Utah? I here that it has a lot of the same Terran (mountains and desert) as eman369 is talking about, along with amenities; food,gas,lodging,PUBS/bars,towns,etc. It would be quite cool temperature wise for the next few months.

Just a thought...

I was looking for trail maps of Piute trails?? Ghost towns cool. Butch guns a blazing...
Ok imagination going. I would love to see trail maps, to see how much of what
kind of trails are there.

i may be shouting my mouth off here but if anyone let alone me committed to a holiday based on a map i would shoot myself first!

if you haven't ridden it it doesn't count!

any ride i talk about for a force ride uk is backed up with knowl;edge opf it and secondly the experience to say how it compares. i hate this. i feel like i have to be the one that shapes it and given that i won't even be supplying my own friggin machine makes me a fraud or worse someone who shouldn't say a word.

sorry if i seem ultra critical but you have to be far more discerning than this.

regards

Taffy
