Singles ?

gottcha! just kidding. Bringing my ole lady but she's kinda taken for the past 15 years.

She will be riding her KTM 450 around,

Sethro :D

I don't think I am coming now. Not unless the economy comes around. Be lucky to pay for the new house now. What a stinker.

You're a lucky man to have the perfect bike for riding in the Rockies. There isn't another bike that holds a candle to that FE650 when it comes to moutain riding.
I would suggest that it would be worth selling off one of those rice burners for a chance to ride that bike in the mountians.

The only reson I will not be there is my horses. The pic I posted is my showjumper stallion and he has a X-racehorse friend. They can be a major pain in the ass so I can't just get anyone or stick them anywhere. If something comes up I will go.

Well maybe we can work a deal. I can't afford a bike for my girlfriend, she loves and trains horses, and she can also be a major pain in the ass. I will send her to Idaho and everyones happy! Hahahaha If or when she reads this I am a dead man.

Hello to all!!! My name is Phil Lambert. I am a friend of Fritz Kadlec's and will be guiding some of the rides during the FR3 here in Gunny. I have read through this thread, all 14 pages, lol, and am going to try and answer some of the more recent questions I have seen on here.

1. Ride Lengths - there will be different lengths that range from about 40-60 miles, no gas/80-? miles(Fritz Loops) with gas stops
2. I can't remember who said it but definitely make sure to select your rides appropriately, there will be some casual riding with beautiful scenery and there will be some wicked trails with rocks and 1-line single track with one way up and you might not be able to turn around to go back down.
3. License Plates - I don't think this will be an issue, there are so many different places that we will be going that we will do some specific "Trailer Loops" and there will be some "Highway Loops" as well (Gas Stops) It took me 3 years of die hard riding out here and I don't think I have touched half of what is available to us here.
4. I will be taking photos of the event and festivities as the FR3 progresses, (I am known for capturing the "Not so Proud" moments we all love and hate!
5. I have some photos I will be posting here in the next day or so of riding locations, from the trails to give you an idea of what some of the trails can be like.
6. ALTITUDE! We are actually 7703 elevation here in town around Fritz's shop but the nearest riding area, about 2 miles, you are already at 8500. Fritz's mechanic has been to Husaberg School so he can tune just about anything you may have. The first day or so, if you are coming from under 3000ft above sea level might be a tad bit trying on you no matter if you are in shape or not. I will offer up this little "mountain townie trick" drink lots of water the first day you get here. It will alleviate any headaches as well as keeping your system running and maybe take a bit of lag out of you. Don't knock it, I thought it was BS until I tried it.
7. STAY THE TRAIL- BLM can be picky about some things and we live around a huge bunch of Earth Muffins/Tree Huggers that would jump at any chance to take something away from Motorized fun.
8. EATERIES - We are a small mountain town and there are a few "City Fast Food" locations - McD's/Taco Hell/Sonic/Pizza Hut/Subway. We have a large list of local goodness though
Ole Miner - Steak House/Breakfast
The Trough - Steak House (AWESOME PRIME RIB)
The W - Fritz's Mechanic owns this, Great Breakfast
Firebrand - Deli style sandwiches, takes a bit to get them but definitely worth the wait.
Gunnisack - Bar/Eatery known for their burgers
The Brewery - Bar/Eatery known for their nachos
Sugah's - Cafe style food
Blue Iguana - Mexican food
Cafe Sylvestre - Mexican Food
Pie Zans - Pizza
Marios - Pizza/Italian Food
Flying Burrito - Burritos to order, kind of like Chipotle.
5B's BBQ - BBQ
Garlic Mikes - Higher End Food.
Palisades - Family Eatery

I hope that answers some of the questions, if not or anyone has any questions that have not been brought up here feel free to either answer back here or email me at [email protected] and I will try to answer your questions to the best of my ability or make something up that sounds really cool!

Phil

Safety Suggestions

Altitude sickness sucks. You don't really get the full effect of it until the next day, and the head aches can last all day. It feels a bit like a bad hang over. Could easily ruin the experience for those people who are coming from sea level.
I would suggest that one person in each ride group be designated the person responisble for safety and pack the necessary equipment. It might not even be a bad idea to carry first aid oxygen for some of the more physical rides. It doesn't really matter how tough you are if your not used to operating in a reduced oxygen environement your going to get your ass kicked. It's something that takes time to condition to.

Any chance of you naming some of the trails that you want to ride? Also giving the Trails Illustrated map numbers of the ride area would help too.

We are trying to refrain from making such information public at this time. Perhaps the information could be discussed in a PM.

Thanks for your cooperation. :kermit:

Yes, I remember now. I am use to sharing info on maped trails. I ask the question with out thinking it through.

Where would the fun and anticipation in that be?? Then you would be prepared for our trails!! hahahhaha, but seriously, why are we not wanting to make this public? Since I am a new member here I was just curious?

Just a little concerned here, my FE570 probly won't make some of the rides because of the crappy gas milage thing, I already carry too much stuff, camel back, fanny pack with tools and tube and stuff, I can't carry anymore and don't like those front number plate tanks. HHMMMM what to do.
