for the purpose of timing the cam, it doesn't matter if the lobes are up at tdc or down. if they are up, u can align them with the case top by laying a straight edge on them.
every time i pull a clutch or change a chain, i mark the case top on my cam gear on front and rear, and mark where the crank and intermediate gears engage the clutch. when reassembling, just realign to the marks.

That's what happens when you got a kid that doesn't sleep....I have to catch 30 min's a day to work on a bike and I'm always rushing things.... :angry: :D

Anyway,

Crank locked @ TDC
Lobes facing down
Marks parallel to the sealing surface

Marks on the idler and crank gear match now.

Is this correct now?

Thanks! Cheers!

spot on! you should notice that the cam sprocket now looks absolutely cock-on!

whereas whenever I used to put a cam in and see it is even like 2d away from cock-on I know that that choice I could have made down at the bottom two gears was wrong!

if it isn't absolutely cock-on at the cam it is simple: the gears are out!

regards

Taffy

Get rid of the M5 stopping bolt in your camwheel.
They have a tendency to brake, and spread mayhem inside your block. :evil:

Taffy, thanks for the input but I don't understand what you mean by "cock-on"?

Thanks!

Well.....

Used food wrap foil to get the WP seal on the shaft. Couldn't find the Minarelli seal I talked about but I'll try to find one later on. I flipped the seal, instead of pressing it form "inside" I pressed it in from the "outside". I'm sure it'll work. If it won't, I won't be so sure again.... :D

Cheers!

Do the brake fluid line and the rear brake light sensor line go through the chain roller bracket or do they go above it?

Fiddlin....

Didn't see this question until now - I'm going over to a mate's to work on his '08 650 this evening, I'll have a look!

Your bike is looking great, better than new ... !

Hi
The brake line goes on top of the roller bracket.
Once I had the same doubt and I bent the tube to go thru the bracket, the I had to unbent it :D

Your bike looks too good, you will be sorry to take it to the dirt :mrgreen:

Nice job

:cheers:

Thanks :bounce3: :bounce3: :bounce3:

Here you go, hopefully it's clear enough....

A=31 mm
B=37,5 mm
C=100 mm
D=41 mm

A, B, C & D are diameters

E=21 mm
F=12,5 mm
G=36 mm
H=3 mm

E, F, G & H are heights

Holes are M8

You should have handles at least 120 mm long

Looks good, much better than my drawing on a piece of paper..... :D

Some pics...

"EJZ" = abbreviation for "Enduro je zakon", which translated to English would be "Enduro rules"....

Cheers!
