Love your work Bushy.

Gotta come visit to do a proper drool, but probably can't make it next month, usual excuses.

Cheers
Steve

No worries Steve, longer you wait the closer I'll be to having 2 bergs ... one each

On a serious note,Whats the plan for connecting all three tanks? three separate taps or connect 2 tanks an leave the third as reserve maybe? (cant see you using 3 taps with your weight obsesscion).

Sorry Bro I forgot about the taps, im not going to have any, maybe some quick release dry break connectors for safety if one tank gets busted up

FWIW making tanks this way is a PITA, hadn't tried this way before. its very difficult to remove all the junk from inside, next time I will use a balsa or stronger divinicell blank, lay up 3/4 of the weave vac bag it then cut it open to scrape out the crap, re join it, patch the join then lay the final layer over the top.

FWIW I used max gre epoxy from an eBay store in the states, its a nova-lock resin claiming high resistance to "gas". its good stuff but is a little thick below 25 degrees C.

if you're doing hand layups over expanded styrofoam make sure the first layer is very wet say 1.5:1 and sealed off properly (paint it with resin couple coats and let it dry before laying the top laminates over it) so any chemicals you tip in to dissolve the foam can't get trapped between the layers and eat the epoxy. its also a lot easier to ensure a full coating and use minimal resin than doing a slosh later.

its pretty hard to see the blue kevlar you need a glossy finish for it to show up. some closeups of the poofy weave, could paint it so I could cut and buff but I don't want Berg bro to think im too close to femininity

from the top......
silly of me.... I shoulda knowed...... no taps are lighter than one! Ya must have a cunning plan for conneting four hoses or do the top tanks feed to the lowest tank which then feeds the carb?

Hey, I know your only two lumps away from femanin. haha haha.

that blue weave carbon is cooooooolll. nice touch. Takes a bit of messing round to get it to look nice with constant pattern etc aye bro.

looks pharkin cool........ but not for long (and the real reason your not gunna clear and polish) is you have already publicly stated that washing your bike is not as higha priority as riding it.
Glad you got your priorities right.

Keep up the good work cuz.... Ill get there yet.

:D yep its balls I hope can't be too sure with all dese patent medicines about

left side of the front tank feeds direct into the bottom of the left tank

right side of the front tank feeds direct to the bottom of the right tank

then 3 Ts make it work 1 T in each of these "side" lines at the lowest point (2 Ts) , to a line connecting the left and right sides together, 1 T in this connecting line feeds the carb though a filter.

then the 2 side tanks need 2 breathers each, one at the front and one at the back.

fuel started pissing out the side tank breathers with the brakes on :D

poked them into the top of the front tank.

weight is nice and central, bike works good, time to fiddle with the new forks

Great Job Bushy.
I think it would be interesting to get a picture of an Original Bike next to yours so we can see
the changes between them.

That stand looks a little bit fancy Bushie :) I searched http://www.ktm-parts.com but couldn't seem to find it, can you PM me the part number? The stands on the LDC's are average :D

I am impressed with your fiberglassing skils, well done.
Davo.

Hey Davo,

4 metric feet of German 80 thou 4130 chromoly in 1 1/4", its a bit of overkill IMHO :D brother got the idea looking at hill climb bike pics, extended swing arms or pds give you plenty of room.

Pollo yes that would be interesting but i'll need a standard bike pic, 650 handlebar leant up against a wall camera 4m away on a 500mm high stand zoomed in so the wheels are on the outer edge of the photo. bit like this

:D hey Steve my helmet don't fit anymore :?

FWIW anyone looking to DIY cool carbon/glass/kevlar bits for your bike advrider has a lot of good info on making things with composites, search it with google, users notmybikemodelname, lukas, ebarek, teamotten, Drjoe, Pete640 are just a few making really good stuff there are heaps more but you get the idea, some links:

just need someone to take a pic of a standard 650 side on, not on the sidestand but nearly vertical with a rear axle stand under the swingarm or with the handlebar leaning against something. camera lens 4M away and 500mm above the floor.

If I have the pic then I can overlay 2 to show the difference

Thanks, you have a good start. Hopefully someone can post up a good picture. All I got right now is
a cell phone and might not come out that good.
Anyone?

Youll get rick yerself once you channel your creativity and energy in that direction, unless you already are filthy rich, nothing wrong in that. I'm hoping to see a paulownia frame in the future, with clear glass laminate on top, making it lighter than anything else on the planet and spectacularly woody in appearance, like a fine piece of furniture. Integral tank?, maybe. Even the latest jet fighters use a lot of glass fiber BTW, yes glass.

I like CF less and less the more I use it, a front guard needs to be tough really but the CF has the "racing" bling factor :?

you're right tough is better than stiff a lot of the time and in chasing lightweight something with a thin CF skin kind of evolves and then becomes a liability, nothing wrong with S glass and even a bit of Kevlar for toughness.

paulownia sits spectacularly between balsa and western red. I like it a lot, too much perhaps to invite termites to remove it. I like the sound of the retro wooden bike, laminated hickory and oak handlebars, id like to see that too

nice "resin"

yes, CF does have the bling factor. But it can be had in a a glass laminate too if the second layer from the surface is thin CF and the rest glass, then the upper glass layer can be sanded too without smudging the whole appearance. Tough and bling at the same time. Or just get black glass and don't tell...

got these Ohlins RXF forks at a good price so could not pass them up

the consistency in performance is very similar to my modded WPs, not a surprise since I copied the TTX recirculating design in there but they have the twin chamber progression that Ive been missing. Very Very nice forks. I have lengthened them about 8mm and gained the same in travel.

seat cover from Logjump, Thanks Log! bit of old toyota seat foam glued on top the old seat to flatten it out a bit.

not sure whats next I have an auto clutch Ive been fiddling with, its nice for trailriding but everywhere else I think auto clutches might be for pooosies :D
