Looks very raked out in those pics Bushie.

do you ride in the sand heaps to need the paddle?

this is where I ride most of the time

does look like a lot in those pics but rake is the same as this bike, stock 2010 rmz450

front/rear weight distribution is about the same as the 450 z but the 700s overall weight is 10 kgs less

bolted paddle is good everywhere except sliding on "hardpack".

surprisingly great in loamy stuff like this

its not really the sand that needs the paddle.. its all the tourque

FWIW long ago they were known as "hookas" and used for a couple seasons in open class MX on the 500 2ts before a rule change sent everyone back to knobbies. surprisingly they work good in the corners too just need a bit of loam

if you have some real horsies you can even do this

no way with a knobbie :D not even one with 25mm high knobs 8O

there is less parasitic drag with a paddle than a knobby for the same conditions and with bolts they last forever, I can destroy a knobby in a weekend, my last paddle with bolts lasted 12 months  the paddles are still OK but the bead is stuffed and won't seal off without a tube.

this old Cheng shin has done 3 months on a Hayabusa and 9 months on my 700

they last because the bolts stop the paddles from being ripped off. eventually the nuts wear through then you need to take the Tyre off to fit new ones, slowly but surely this wreaks the bead enough so that it won't work as tubeless.

its done a fair bit of transport on tar and gravel driveways, looses a bit of rubber off the paddles each time but its definitely possible and relatively smooth above 40ks.

in loamy stuff they corner extremely well. you don't slide as much, just crank it right over and get on it. if you want more sliding increase pressure less sliding reduce the pressure I run 18psi.

if they didn't corner nice I wouldn't use them my track has about 70 corners a lap. the open class mxers used them too.... for mx.

something I immediately miss when going back to a knobby is the directly connected feel, a knobby will spin up in the troughs and grab over the bumps being more erratic influencing the fore/aft pitch of the chassis. the paddle lets you control the pitch with the throttle so corner speed is much higher.

but yes on hardpack they can feel fine then just spin out and chuck you off

Have you a patent on the side stand?

Knowing his fetish for weight loss.... Im waiting for the carbon fibre version of his side stand.

Just to clarify the comment. bushie is in self exile, and is perfectly capable of returning if he wishes.

Anyway all ******** aside he has finished the 700 and is now working on a 628 with a lighter reciprocating assembly bored out carb fat cam and vortex ignition, it's the FST or fully sick trailie.

I think I would be in self exile too if I was treated the way Bushie was by the UHE mods.
After the dust settled last time, I sat back and thought the untouchable must be one of the mods illegitimate love child :confused2:
Is he your son Berger? :shocked!:

OK kids. There are only a few points to be made here.
1) Don't believe everything you read on an internet forum. Everyone should use due diligence, research and common sense. Most posts are merely matter of opinion, not so much documented scientific fact.
2) The mods are not fact checkers and are here to TRY and keep things orderly and civilized. That is about all you can ask for on a free, volunteer only website.
3) This is not a democracy but more of a benevolent dictatorship. We will listen to you, but in the end, you don't get a vote.

I apologize for feeling the need to even respond to this post and for adding to the thread hijack.

On ya Davo that's the Aussie spirit stick up for your mates no matter what

Thanks Berglsmerg, I just miss Bushies posts they were a good read. Also think he was a little bit miss treated based on my opinion of how I saw the flare up start.
I do love the way you said it! It was honest, direct, 100% correct, and straight to the point. I think the
politically correct answer was "bushie is in self exile"
