I'd drop the needle.

do you know how to set the pilot screw? This must be set to the highest idle.

Taffy

Hi Taffy

Thank you for your reply. I don't know exactly how to adjust the air-petrol screw, as I couldn't find any correct values for this model. I have now gone 1.5 turns from the very inside to the outside and am now slowly testing.

Do you have any ideas on how I can do it better?

Many thanks in advance

Tobias

OK
highest idle using just the fuel screw (on the left near the front of the carb)
reduce the idle with the idle knob.
highest idle again using the fuel screw.
reduce the idle with the idle screw again

if there is 1/4 turn it is happy either way try to restart the bike using one position and then the other. they may be the same idle but one will start it better.

count the turns to closing the fuel screw.
open back to where it was.

1.25-1.75 means the right PJ is fitted.
below 1.25 turns = you need a smaller PJ.
over 1.75 turns means you need a larger PJ.

How about you tell us what happens?

Thank you for the detailed answer. I will try exactly the this and post the result here.

But it will take a few days, as the weather is currently not suitable for a test drive

it's got nothing to do with a test drive. You don't drive this. You just get it warm and then do it.

You've missed the point.

This must be done and from that we can judge your jetting elsewhere. Dell Ortos especially wear badly. You should be fitting all new stuff in to make up for the wear. every 4-5 years of irregular use (like most of us!).

Hi Taffy

All right. Then that's what I'll do. :) Thought I'd have to test with the engine at operating temperature and take it for a spin.

What could still be adjusted is the needle setting. Here I am currently on the second setting (from top to bottom) of a total of 4 height settings.
