70 degree aux. Fuel tank deliveries

Thirteen thousand, six hundred and twenty-seven views on this thread.

....I reckon at least 1000 views are mine. .

Actually now that the dust has settled what are my chances of procuring one of these most sought after aux tanks,
I haven't ordered one yet & iam from Australia ? What would the lead be & how much $ delivered?

I ordered one of these tanks and paid for it through PayPal in June of last year through a distributor because I couldn't order it directly through Dale (they had stopped orders). I wouldn't have ordered it if I thought it was going to take this long. I would put this under my doing stupid things column. It seems like a fairly long column.
I'm still waiting though and do hope to see this tank while my 570 is still rideable.

Tommy,

Which upper left side bolt? The battery box, the ECU holder, or the sub frame truss or..........?

Yes I had the same problem, seems the wiring loom that runs under the battery box was in the way. I tried for ages to move the wires around and get that battery box to fit but couldn't and then gave up, threw the tank in the back of my garage somewhere and went back to carrying 2 x 750ml Coke bottles full of fuel in my backpack. Coke bottles do the job good enough for me

You know,

I'm a little baffled..........if you are having problems installing the tank, why would you post it here as opposed to contacting me. You all know where to contact me.

For the record, I have installed quite a few of these tanks on all of the bikes from 09-12's without too much drama.

The US 09's were the easiest, with the street legal bikes being a little harder due to the increased level of wiring. But everything will fit.

Sorry dale did want to create that.

i got it installed was just wondring if anybody else had the same probleme. The upper left hand side bolt of the tank was hard to installed and all the 4 bolts of the batery rack, But i have the street legal bike os i guess it is because od the wriring being a little bit fat.

Thanks.

Hi Dale,
I only posted that because tommypade asked and I had experienced the same problem. Apologies if it sounded bad. Just delete my posts if it looks bad, I don't mind.
I did contact you originally off line and you did reply to me promptly but I still couldn't get it to fit.

I purchased another Battery Box and a Shorai Battery awhile back and was going to cut the Battery Box Down as the Shorai is smaller (I think). I was just laughing this morning when I read the post on the Shorai battery and a few people bagging them out. Wish I had read that before buying the Shorai
Regards,
Davo.

....I don't like this thread disappearing from the front page.....

Dale, after the aux tank is up and being run off the moulder and you're posting them frantically out, will there be any chance at all of doing a run of a few in the black polyehturethannnnne stuff instead of white or grey; just for those lucky ones of us who have the lovely black subframe & rear guard & the classy stickers, and want to keep our 'bergs beoooootiful.

(2012 is far far far prettier than earlier models) see:
2012-Husaberg-FE450b.jpg

It's all black under the rear mudguard too.

I saw one of these aux tanks for REAL last weekend, bloke has two 'bergs, and he said the older one is brilliant because of the extra range, and he said there is no difference in handling because of the central location. During races, he just runs half an aux tank of fuel, so there is NO weight at all up high.

Hi BB,

All of the new ones will be in "natural" xlpe.

When pigmentation is introduced into the plastic it inhibits the cross linking. And with such a difficult shape to mold it has proven to be best to just use the natural color when making the tanks.

I am currently waiting to hear back from the molder when the mold will be back from getting some more work done on the mold to make post production work easier.

Dale

I painted successfully my -11 clear subframe into black color. Have been holding just fine for one year and 3000km's.
Even the underside is still black from rear tire sand blasting.

Just saying if anyone wants some cosmetic upgrades on their bikes. Needs automotive paint stuff, not $5 rattle can crap. Still relatively cheap to do if you have air compressor and decent spray gun.

When I get one, I might spend some $$ then and see if the local panel beater can do it professionally for me.....(maybe with a clear strip to see fuel level.....) Trick!

Whatever you do you need plastic adhesion promoter or nothing will stick to it.

P220 sand -> promoter -> primer > p500 sand -> paint -> smile
