Last week i talked with Valtteri Salonen in Helsinki and he had been testing '09-model. He was also very satisfied about it, especially cornering with it is much easier than with the earlier models. He also mentioned that Jocke likes it and wants not to ride earlier models any more.. There have been not reability problems. Valtteri is now testing suspension settings in Italy, he said.

That is great news, any more p ictures of this bike¡¡¡

more videos, anyone, I want to see it in action, engine sound??

Jocke Ljunggren raced in Tibro last weekend.
I don't know the details about the race but Jocke says
"After two laps into the first heat I had a 30sec gap down to Toresson and starting to slow down to control the heat from the lead. When it was some four minutes I ran out of fuel. On the prototype the tank is only five liters and at home I can ride it for 1h15min but tis track obiously took a lot more fuel and only lasted some 50min.
In the second heat I stoped for fuel but still managed to win by almost 1min30s before Toresson. I'm so pleased with the new bike and I feel like I'm in great shape.
Next race is in Hallsberg this weekend and after that I'm going down to Italy for suspension tests on the new bike. In italy I'll take part in the Italian champs 1-2mars. It'll be fun to test something new and if I'm going to develop myself in the WEC this must be the way to go. Competing against the best on surfaces I'm not familiar with"

thanks J DEE ... you are the man ... no question
Thank you sir. :D
I try to do my best sharing the 'Berg word.

On a side note I am happy to tell you that it seems the all new Highland 450 is coming to the US. On http://www.martin-lind.com/, in the diary, Martin says he has prepared a bike that was sent to the states to appear at a big fair. This diary entry was from last sunday, 080211, so I guess you guys have more of a clue to what fair he is talking about. Don't know if it was the MX or the SuMo bike though.
For you who don't know Martin he is one of the greatest 'Berg riders with several seasons in the WEC and two full seasons in the WorldSumoChamps and so on (just take a look at the pictures on the site)

that would be the indy show

So what does this beast go for and is it a reality or still in testing?

Jocke,
What is the current status of Highland? Did they ever sell many of the 950?

None sold yet. I think the only ones built are the prototypes Martin has been racing. He has been racing the 450 Sumo all year in the Swedish champs with great success. No DNF's but there has been a lot of work done at some races between heats and between days. He missed third place overall with just one point. A point that he lost, to the guy who "stole" third, in the last corner of the last race of the season. He will probably be doing some races in the German champs this year.

Do take a look at the pics at http://www.jsfoto.com/galleri.htm
Here's an example

If you spot a slow looking guy with #86, thats me

Don't know any sales figures but I think they pop out a few every year. I don't even want to take a guess how many "A few" actually are
They are starting manufacturing in China as we speak. Martin was there a couple of weeks late last year to inspect and develop production. What that means in terms of increased sales or going into the US market and so on I don't know.

Love the high tech add-on roost deflector he's running on the front fender!
I hope they are able to bring the 450MX to market. It definitely peeks my interest and would be a welcome addition after the loss of Vor coupled with Berg's suspension of building a MX specific model.

My thought (also hope) is that if they (Highland) have invested so much money in hiring Martin for developing the bike they are "pot committed" and have to see the project through. I'll keep you guys updated with everything I hear about both Sumo and MX bikes.

On another side note (last one, I swear) I have to show you guys a pic from this years last race that I came across when I was looking for the pic of Martin.

Since I'm in charge of the new S3 class (within our equivalent to your AMA) I tried to get the number of entries up by borrowing a friends CRF250 and put 19"/21" slicks on it. Besides the usual catch tanks and so on I didn't touch a screw. Just wanted to make a point that it is possible to do that and have fun. I have some four sets of these tires in my basement that i lend to people who want to try them out. The bike took some getting used to since the bike has 50% of power, 50% brakes, 50% grip and so on compared to my normal FS650 8)

I thought I read here that there was not going to be any SM versions of the new bike? Enduro only.
