well, it's less than a year so we need to start looking ahead!

maybe we need a vote?

maybe we need a leader?

i noticed that people were a little selfish when the subject came up this time last year. we need some honesty about how good an area is - even better if someone from 'outside' agrees with you!

my vote was for the carolinas, altitude, panoramic great views, wilderness but most of all some great rides!

the bad side was that march would then be too soon for this altitude and also that we only have coupla members from that region.

oregon has many members who no doubt will now come out of the woodwork. i find it slightly unpalatable but there....

i think it's important that ossaman (mike), has a say as well as anyone who ORGANISED and made force ride 2 such a great experience.

i hope that we can sort this out on this thread.

leadership is required here!

regards

Taffy

Northern California. Multiple places to ride, plus Nevada desert nearby. April - May best time

California, why not, except that most of us will not be allowed to dual sport, unless they let you do it if you have a bike plated in a different state?

Also what's the cost of the sticker?

Otherwise, it would be fun (and not far from my house).

boss

i would say your attendance here has actually increased in the last year but alas the same cannot be said for many of the oregon and WA state lads...

they seem to leave the radar in between rides and that makes it hard to back (i have to buy flights and trust lots of things to go right) them.

for me, seeing these guys around is important. i hope you can see that.

inversely, if i came from the states i would, like you, wonder what the fuss was?

all the best

Thank's alot Taffy, your answer makes complete sence to me!!

If the group would consider showing up in oregon (china hat) let me be the first to say
that myself & many would provide the UHE MEMBERS with what should be the reason
to get away for the week & have more fun than should be legal without a permit!!

I will also be able to do a great deal more for the cause, & providing bikes for the ones who
fly in! The area has a trail system that is great for all & maps are at every location
that is a staging point.Plenty of wood for great camping & town is only 20mi.Please
just consider the offer we can hash out the details.

basically i'm easy just need to know in advance so i can get the time off wrk.

whilst i would quite fancy bosses part of the world from what he said last year i would say lets go with the area thats goin to get the biggest attendance and has the facilities to accomodate us, where ever that may be.

of course goes without saying that theres got to be some good riding as well.

I could really careless where it is, I just want to know dates ! Truth be told the Carolinas would be a pretty far haul for me, if it could stay west of the Mississippi that would be my preference. Not to be a homer here, however Moab is always on the table for me, I can't get enough of that place.

out of the wookwork

China hat is a great place to ride and if BOSS is involved even better.

Let me know what I can do to help on this. WA state does also have a lot to offer....

Just because some of the OR and WA riders don't comment all the time does not mean that we are not observing. By next year (actually 2 months) I will be living in Spokane, (Viking's area) and still have a 9 hour drive but having ridden the area if I can get the time off from the new job That will be where I cast my vote! Great stuff there and I know of at-least 1 other Berg rider (that does not post on here 'cuz he is a weenie) that wants to go.. His wife wont let him go any farther, he needs to be close to a hospital or life flight...Rick knows Pops, just ask him how much he likes too crash!!! My $.02..

Force Ride 3

Has a nice ring to it. Doesn't it!

Thanks Taffy. It was a lot work to get Force Ride 2 to be a success, but it could not have been done without awesome people like Dez Duster, Berger and Bobzilla.

Let us not forget all of those great people and businesses that donated so much, Dixie Sales, BOSS, Bike Barn, MotoXotica, Berger, Fritz and so many more.

First question to ask is; What type of riding do want to do? Single track, high speed desert, a little of everything?

Second question; What time of the year is best for the majority?

Anyway, I do think a change in venue would be great. I would love to give China Hat a try. Given Rick's knowledge of the area is a huge plus.

Taffy, the East Coast would be nice, but I doubt the attendance would be anything to talk about. Most left coasters are not going to travel across the country. Especially with the way fuel costs keep rising on an almost daily basis. Plus the majority of those that have or would attend, live west of the Mississippi.

California would cool too as its where I call home.

My vote is for someplace in Rick's neck of the woods.

I would be happy to help if needed.

My 2 cents worth for now,
Mike

Taffy, thanks for starting this thread.

Riding on pavement is a waste of good rubber.....so who's needs a stinkin dual sport..... to ride California. But riding in NorCal would have to be a multiple site kinda thing, we agree to ride Stonyford for 2 days then 2 days at the Local Sierra Woods places then 2 days in the Nevada desert ..all places can be accessed within 2.5 hours drive of Sacramento so Visitors would need to anchor in/near Sacramento, garage bikes at our Homes or MotoXotica or? and some of Us Local NorCal BERG owners can share ride truck you and your bikes around or house a few guys too. It can be done, would be a sort of a NorCal Tour de Force kinda week. BUT that said, surely the Washington local thing with the BOSS centered there sounds goodr and more better suited to long range travellers coming long ways and looking for one place to meet, anchor and ride.

my vote goes to the BOSS

I rode at Clifford Pinchot which is near Mt Shasta and other very large famous mountains. I'll take the excuse to come up north. I will throw out one other possibility... I can arrange and lead a five day ride in Baja. Its in my back yard and I know the area well.

It would be nice if the ride site was as close as possible to a major airport.

Bigbob, in the previous edition there has been a little bit of dual sporting for different reasons. Sometimes we did not have enough room in the trucks. Sometimes some would rather ride on their bike that in the bed of a truck. Other times we had to dual sport between two riding areas, sometimes just a few miles apart. One could get lost and the only way back for him would be by road (happened to me once).

In California, you're never too cautious.

My questions are still: can you legally dual sport if your bike is plated in a different state and how much is the sticker to ride your bike on the trails?

I think Ca has a 30-60 grace period? meaning If you have an out of state plate you should be good here for a single week trip? check out CA dmv on line. I'm sure their web pages are easy to surf to get your answer.

I was just kiddin on the dual sport thing.

My .02 A central location for the majority attending would be nice, be that central Oregon or Northern California. I ride China Hat all the time, I love it and would think every skill level here will love it as well, but I could go for some different scenery as well. So call me "on the fence", but I can definitely say East coast would be out for me.

I do believe that the East Coast guys need to speak up and see what they can come up with, I do feel bad that they get left out. So you guys on the right side of the states..speak up!

Frog, most states honor out of state plates, is California an accept ion to that? If so, that would probably count Cali out, due to hassle factor.

Maybe we should start with a head count...Bendberg---IN.

Moab is one of my all time favorites and is easy....but.....we have done it, not to say I would not mind doing it again.
Arizona ......way easy to do and Baja isnt too far (just call me homer).
China Hat interests me, but man is it a haul. No further than Az is to the guy's in the NW though.
I would really like to hear from the guys in Colorado though. Colorado is on my "to do list".

I could help with organizing something in AZ as a plan B but we should do something new this time...

froggy has a point

wherever we go there will be someone who has to cut and run for home PDQ due to problems wit motor etc. it's doubyful that we'll get many going if we're in heavy policed areas.

at moab we even ran past the coppers going the other way and we didn't have a tail light between us.

another thing about wherever is put forwards (and please tell us?) is how far to the rides? at moab it was 10-minutes.

it's not important to me (do you agree?) to be near a town but wherever the campsite is should have a fuel station, should have a diner/cafe for brekkie and a bar would be well....heaven!

another valued opinion i suggest will be velo's when he happens upon this thread.

how technical are the rides? rock or soil? altitude?

we did this last time. questions, questions, questions!!!!! BUT and it's a big butt. WHEN we get everything down infront of us we can make an informed choice!

i think we're agreed that we need to be west of the mississippi just to keep good numbers. i would suggest a target to split the 21 (too small - just) of force ride 1 and the 44 of force ride 2 (just too big even) as some kind of guide whatever happens.

i think i said before that our ego's need to get off huge unorganisable numbers and just be happy to pick a nice spot for 30+ folk. if you get these numbers in a less central location this time it means we can go to canada one day and all get lost!!!!!! LOL!!

regards

Taffy
