tuts,
Last time we went I really appreciated that you ran my truck up against the rev limiter all the way to Moab and kept saying "don't worry about it I'm just cleaning the carbon out of the engine".

This time we use your new truck. It should be broken in by Sept.

Say it's not so fry! it just won't be the same around the camp fire without the canucks around eh. It's just another ISDE you guys really don't have to go, you've already won enough medals and I still have to talk someone out of their canadian team jacket. Will sure miss you guys there and good luck at ISDE.

the plan for the las vegas crew is to arrive wednesday, and leave sunday night, but maybe sleep over sunday and leave monday.

the thinking is we want to be all ready first thing thursday am.

berger, this will also give us some 'quite time' together.

I'm sure it will be quite a time Paul, just probably not the quiet time you were hoping for :paranoid:

berger,
just to set the record straight, i am not gay....
again, i am not gay, although i was almost sucked into it once.
looking forward to the fun.

Okay,

Just made my reservation at TT for 9-15, leaving on 9-22. I spoke with Linda about their accommodations. She said that there is a pavilion for outside get togethers that is covered, and an inside lodge with lots of tables.

She also told me about a local mexican restaurant in Crestted Butte called Donita's that has a large room downstairs for big groups of people, that is isolated from the rest of the patronage, which will probably be a good idea. 6 months and counting!!

At risk of recieving a full broadside from Taffy - I have read all the posts and I would like to know a few things...
How many people typically show for these events? What kind of riding? Drinking and brawling and shooting firearms into the air or fairly sensible gathering?

There was probably 50+ at the 2007 ride. We try to divide up into small groups based on riding ability and desires, and go from there. As far as the total event in 2007, it was one of the best I have ever attended. Several members here stepped up big time with the organization, and along with great participation form several dealers, it was truly first class all the way.

All the extras were outstanding, but I enjoyed the riding the most. I made a lot of friends in three days. Can't wait to do it again.

I plan on booking at the TT in the next few days after that there is no turning back now is there. :D

As far as the number of ppl, itseems to be enough to find a like minded group for riding in the same level of riding. I believe that everyone is there to have fun and there isn't any issues when you ride with an appropriate group. By that I mean that you don't want to ride over your head because you won't enjoy it and the group will suffer.

The area is new to me, but the riding at Moab was great. Truly an epic event.
I think this area is more of the same, but it may have some insanely tuff trials if you like that stuff. Again, I believe that you can pick and choose to suit yourself very easily.

Drinking? I think there was some of that. Brawling? Didn't see any first hand but i did hear of an issue where in the shower Taffy's LifeBoy soap turned into LoverBoy and had its way with him.

Sensible? For the most part, yes....on an adult level. I don't think it's an event for the kids. In fact, no kids should be the rule. Although most of the discussion groups are civil, I have heard of some times when things kind of got 'raw'. This an event for adult riders to bond, ride, joke, and relax....not watch the p's and q's....There was one kid that the parents even brought to the bar...very inappropriate. Poor parenting to say the least. Plus the conversation had to be toned down to PG. Not good for the others. But I think aside from this selfish and irresponsible parent things were good. Not PG,but not so crude that a lady friend would be insulted. So leave the kids, worries, and troubles at home.

Hope this helps.

Sensibly Yours,
tuts

team cornergrass came to the first two but can't make this one. they needed 3 drivers on rotation to make it down in 20 hours.

so make some friends quick....

No kidding it's 3500 KMS one way...
Still if this snow keeps up maybe I will stop in on my way to Mexico because I will be moving there shortly.
If I go to this ride I will likely have to buy my GF a dirtbike and take her. She's also told me no dirtbike until I buy her a ring. So now we have a perdicament. Anyways anyone in the BC Alberta area thinking about going I would be open for ride sharing. Google tells me the best route is through the rocks looks like a nice trip down. Cheers.

what dates are everyone planning to be in gunnison?

see dale has booked 15-22nd Sept.

only asking as i might fly straight into Gunnison unless anyone wants a driving buddy.

ps. anyone got a bike i can borrow. dont care what it is as long as it starts , goes and stops and i promise i wont break it.
