70 degree aux. Fuel tank deliveries

I bought one of the very first 70* tanks, I waited for awhile for production
of the tank to start.
BUT it was well worth the wait.
I have had 4 stroke bikes with big replacement fuel tanks and they just don't handle well with any kind of speed on rough ground , in the rocks , sand washes and turns, in other words big tanks suck!!
A few turns on the rear shock spring to compensate for the 70* tank and you don't feel the small amount of extra weight when riding.
I am going to buy a second FE570 and I will buy another 70* tank.
I am a very impatient rider so I understand your fustration, but the wait for me was worth it.
I know this does not ease your fustration, but just my thoughts on a great sub frame tank.

Assuming he's on a holiday, he is probably here, spending our money:

No, just kidding you. There must be a valid reason why he has not logged in anymore since 14 days ago :D

I'm on the list supposedly and realize It aint happening, I've seen this cycle in my business many times.
I just bought a new 70 degree tank on ebay and my local shop says there were no problem versions. Is that true? Is there anything I should look at before installing this subframe tank?

I have the safari front tank and documented with photos my install on the advrider.net website, and I think I also did it here. preIt works, but not great for serious riding. And get ready for serious customizing for install.

I hope to have all tanks linked together at times. sub frame, stock, and safari front tank. Anyone do that?

thanks!

I've sent "multiple" requests over the past four weeks with no response. I understand that there maybe production issues, but being "invested" with no response is simply unacceptable.

I replied to your request this morning for an update or a refund, you should have that in your inbox.

As has been the policy from when we had to change manufacturers, refunds for those who wanted have been offered, available, and delivered in short order.

We are still working on getting the tanks done.

Progress has been very slow, however the project is moving forward.

Ausrally, I believe that it is going to happen or I wouldn't be "invested" in this project.

If you are a prepaid customer and want a refund then send a request and we will send you your money back.

Noppy...looks like a great beach! Wish I had been on holiday there. Haven't logged in until now as I did not have an update to give everyone. Have been working with the manufacturer to get the tank produced, and as I said above, we are making progress albeit slowly.

Blackboots....no the project has not fallen over. We are working on getting them done.

Haskell, thanks for the nice post.

Backcountry.....My advice would be to put plenty of anti-seize on the 5mm bolts when installing the tank, take your time when installing the 5mm bolts to avoid cross threading, and do not over tighten the bolts.

I will let you all know as soon as they are available.

Thank you.

I had one of the original sub frame tanks. It was a good item and reasonably easy to fit. The main weakness was the two 5mm bolts that held the battery in place. The inserts came loose from vibration causing the tank to leak. I tried everything I could to fix it but no go. Went and saw the local berg dealer, he was on his 3rd tank for the same problem and we both agreed, "do not put in the two 5mm battery bolts". Because other than that it was great. I will be needing two tanks next year as my son is going to start racing with me and to keep overall costs down I will be sourcing a Berg for him. I have Absolutely no hesitation in getting another tank (I will use the aussie distributor though, but I will not be using the 5mm bolts. T%he battery fits quite snug anyway and I can't see it being a problem. If the new tanks are clear that will be great, because thye grey made it tough to see your fuel level. Just wanted to let you know of my experience. The tank survived to Rally's and was great, with just one small weakness.
Cheers

Thank you for your endorsement. That makes a great incentive to have some more patience on what's coming!

Sounds like the new tanks will be better than the old ones. Suspect that is what this Dale chap is working towards without saying anything bad about anyone or anything.

Hope so anyway - too hot to ride now for 5 months..... sure the tanks will be ready by April 2013.

Who needs an aux tank??

Planning on some longer rides over summer on the open dirt roads, worried about range....... rang a mate with a 390. He just got 100kms on 3.5 litres.......
that's over 240 kms on a 8.5 litre tank........
8O   :D

That's 350kms with Dale's subframe fuel tank (12.5 l total) when it comes out.

Wonder when it'll be ready?

For those still living in the dark ages:
100kms = 60 miles
3.5 litres = .92 gallons
8.5 litres = 2.25 gallons
350kms = 217.5 miles
12.5 litres = 3.30 gallons.

PS. Hi Bruce.

That's almost unbelievable economy, 240 kms out of the stock tank I've never seen anything even approaching that mileage.

I guess they are out of business.....

No we are not.

I answered your email today Odie, from the 70 degree site.

I don't have a tank for you, if I did I would have let you know.

We are still going forward with this project, but, have not been able to send out anything yet.

Will let you know when they are available.

Dale

Second that! Keep up the good work Dale, happy to wait.

I picked up the first small batch of tanks from the molder last Friday.

We made a design change on the tank for quality control. This change will require us to include two small spacers for the rear fender mounting screws on the back end of the tank. Once we have the spacers made we will be able to start shipping tanks!
