2008 Bergs ??

Looks like it'd be a serious job to get the plug out.....

More elaborate each year IMHO.

I believe you have to take the tank off now to get to the plug.

Which is good. Only qualified and trained KTM technicians should have access to the spark plug. The tank will require a special socket to be removed, by the way. The motorcycle will explode if you attempt to fix it yourself.

Oh wait, my Husaberg already has this feature.

One of my buddies has a 450sxf, it took him half a day to get the plug out of that, first of all cutting down a plug socket, so that it fit between the rocker cover and the frame, drop that in, and then had to machine equivalent length of 3/8 key steel to fit the socket, with the machined hole up the middle for the plug insulator to fit.

I dare say that KTM have a purpose made tool, but heck - why so difficult?

Azza.

If that truly is the case & they have designed this KTM like this, I would suggest it was a design flaw. Either that or they are trying to encourage the public to take their bikes to the shop for everything that needs to be done to it. Less public intervention, less warranty claims ? They dont want you working on your bike.

You know, there are a lot of Joes out there who don't do squat on their dirt bikes or quads and pay big bucks to have mechanics do it all. Without these Joes, there would be no little mom and pop shops like Z Moto in Apache Junction, 3 miles from my house, when I can run for new tires, new tubes and tools.

I command KTM's effort to keep these guys in business.

He frog how in the world are you wearing out tires? do you push them down the street with a stick like "hoop rolling" cause as far as anyone here knows you just sit in the garage and look at your bike.... :D :D

EFI is made by Mikuni and includes a lambda sensor in the exhaust system...so, it should self adjust when you put a racing pipe  ...that's one thing that Sherco, GasGas,etc. don't have, AFAIK.

I had thought so too. A lambda sensor won't hold up to the conditions that are placed on it in offroad conditions. Maybe the Supermotos can handle em, but not offroad. That is why the other guys don't have 'em.

Hmmmm...maybe but the place where they put it is well placed...the only way to something hit it is if it cuts your left leg 1st 8O

...and i got the info that the ECU has two EFI maps...to use the racing map, you remove/disconnect the lambda sensor and make a electrical connection to make the EFI open loop instead of closed loop.

If you try to ride your bike underwater (within the Intake limits), the Lambda will be ruined. They need to be vented to atmosphere to have a reference to Stoich. Plus dirt and grime ruin them too.

Another note. A well designed bike won't need access to the plug, it will simply run, especially with Fuel injection mounted. Sounds counter-intuitive, I know, but it makes sense the more you think about it.

Ouch! You funny. Seriously I have not ridden since about January, not because the bike is in parts but because of a new job and longer hours.

I hear ya, I went to Moab in march, and have taken only 4 days rides since then.... and now the new baby is here, I am switching jobs and wont be working from home any longer, more hours and all.....

man life sucks....

Well, I did have two jobs, one home based and one day job but I am going to quit the side job, I need a life. Waaaah!

would like to update the doc: first chapter as usual with details of the '08 but i can't find where the specs are written out in a list anywhere?

someone ever seen all the updates for next season?
