2008 AUS FORCE RIDE FINAL LOCATION AND DATE

Azza,

The plan at this stage is to have the suspension workshop Friday at MeDogRocket 's and ride Sat and Sunday. If a local guide is available, then riding Friday is OK to, or with some helpfull directions, you could get lost in Sunny Corner pretty well. I expect that I'll be arriving before lunch Friday and as ever, I'm always up for a ride, its just that the once I've been there I followed others. Got the GPS though, but I didn't map it previously.

I'd expect that riding Friday is likely and you might as well plan to do it.

cafey18 and MeDogRocket might haver some further suggestions.

Steve

G'Day Azza,
You will have to check with Rob at the Black Gold Cabins to see if anyone has booked in for the 22nd. I'm not aware of anyone who has though.
Check my original post on this thread and it's all there mate. Yes we will be riding Friday afternoon. Some will be at the suspension workshop and the rest of us will be blasting through the trails.
Cheers :D
Garry.

Excellent...

Will be keen for a ride on Friday then, and the way things pan out, probally have a nice arvo resting up, getting ready to ride, and sampling some fine exotic (NSW) beer!

Faktor, have you got a trailer? I was thinking of getting one, but dont think $900 will come my way before the ride, if we can get a trailer, then we can do three bikes easily and travel in comfort, If things change with Kyma (my riding pal), I will do the trip in the Falcon ute, and then no worries, I'll make sure we fit everything.

Azza.

Okie Dokie,

Have booked in on 22nd and out on 26th, so it'll be a bit of a break between riding and travelling.

anyone keen for a Thursday catch up in the area, give us a hoi, and the Friday will be a nice warm up ride.

a few things spring to mind - can you get premium fuel nearby? and should there be any unforseen Mech issues, how far is the nearest Berg or KTM dealer for parts?

getting keen now!!

Azza Orangeberg is not to far away and i'm not sure on this but i dare say he will be there for the ride anyway as he came to the one this year. As my bike was the only one to really have an issue last ride i don't think many parts will be needed!!
Regards Pids

FUEL AND SPARES FOR FORCE RIDE

Azza

John from Orange Berg will be there with he's super support as usual. There are 2 local bike shops at Lithgow for sundry items. As far as premium fuel goes it is all at Lithgow, SHELL, CALTEX & BP but I am not sure about the Mobil servo.
There are 2 servo's at Wallerawang (Wang) Shell & United I am sure both do not have Premium fuel.
I am planning on having that period off on some annual leave so if you wish we can catch up and you can get a sneak peek at some of the riding we have instore for all on the weekend.

RE: FUEL AND SPARES FOR FORCE RIDE

MEDOGROCKET,

Yeah, definately keen for a ride, my riding buddy Kym willbe keen - we see heaps of stuff about sunny corner in the mags, and it looks really s**T hot!

are we still colectively keen to promote this to ADB or Dirt Action?????????

THIS IS THE FIRST AUS FORCE RIDE!!!

does anyone know how many are confirmed to attend at this stage?? Gary, sounds like you are on the case (at least thats what the guy from Black Gold thought), do you have a tally running?

Azza.

G'Day Folks,

All is progressing well for the 2008 AUS Force Ride.
Spare parts will be catered for by ORANGEBERG John with his supervan and display.
I would suggest that everyone organise their own fuel. It's not hard to bring a couple of jerry cans. We can do a fuel run if required.

Azza,
I hope your OK mate with those bush fires down your way ?
Rob said there is a steady trickle of bookings but like most, bike riders also leave their accommodation till the last minute. I will do a tally in January and post it here.
We will talk more about promoting this event to ADB or the likes after I have spoken to a few key people and the good folks who cut the trails in around that area. More on that soon.
I can guarantee that you will have a ball riding in this area Azza.

Muffberger,
I just love your animated avatar mate, very hard to stop looking at it !!!!
There will be quite a few "other" bikes at the ride so your mate will not feel left out. But how good will it be to ride at an event where Bergs outnumber everything else ! The 2007 Ride was great and all the Bergs lined up looked very good.

MEDOGROCKET has been doing some research on affordable helmet cams so we should have plenty of cams to capture those embarrassing moments and "get off's". We already have a couple so the more the merrier I say. It will be great viewing over a few beers at the evening get togethers.
So all is on track for a great event. We have ordered rain for the week before our event and fine conditions at 15 to 20 degrees C for the event. Ha ha.
If Santa has the right connections it would be great to see a pre production 09 Berg at the event !!!!! Perhaps the Easter Bunny can help ?

Cheers :D
Garry.

Thanks Cafey,

The fires have been tough down here, the main towns have not been affected, we are some 50kms or more from the nearest of the fire fronts, which the CFS anticipate to be brought under controll by the weekend if weather permits.

so far in excess of 20,000Ha of land has been burned, 1 house that we are aware of has been destroyed, but I'm sure that there will be others identified in time.

The saddest news, which goes right to my heart, was the loss of a very close friend, on Thursday 6th, as he was either delivering or moving earthmoving equipment around the fire, it appears that he was caught at the fire front on the main highway and got into difficulty with the vehicle trying to turn around or whatever, when the fire engulfed the vehicle.

I'm still literally shaking as I write, it has been awfully hard to talk about, let alone writing. The healing process will be long and very difficult.

Joel had been keen to come along to the ride next year.

He will be sorely missed, we shared some great times, riding and doing other stuff, and its just surreal, like hearing news that you cannot believe, that he has been taken.

We, Tara my wife particularly has been spending time with his fiance', trying to comfort her through this tragedy.

Makes you realise how precious life is, and how quickly it can be taken away, Joel wasent the kind of person to get into a dangerous situation, and if he had, his quick thinking would usually see him right, it must have been a really f*** up situation for him not to have gotten out.

Azza.

Azza,

Thats tough, you have my sympathies, very sad. As an RFS volunteer up this way I have been involved in many fires and you can never take them for granted, they are always life threatening, and unfortunately even the best have been caught out.

Hang in there.
Steve

Azza,
My condolences mate. I know how you are feeling. I lost a good friend on Saturday morning to a heart attack. He was only 39 and has a very young family. You must live life every day my friend and cherish those you have. Do your best for his partner and remember the good times. Only time and friendship will help now.
Regards
Garry.

Azza,
In this I case I do know how you feel, been in your shoes. Just be there for your friends and extended family, time heals all. For me I have discovered that the people and loved ones that go on before us are not dead they just live somewhere else , and that is in you. Will you ever ride and not think of Joel, when the weather is right the traction is good ? He will be there with you. What a brave soul he must have been, the world is an emptier place because of this loss. There are good people here and all are feeling for you and yours. Wish I had more words
Ron

Sorry to hear your news Azza. We'll have to have a hearty round of beers & a cheerio for Joel at this years Force ride, that way he wont have missed it at all. My condolences.

Wal

spares, gear, fuel, etc

The force ride seems to be gaining momentum fellas well done whoever puts in the effort.
Just to keep you updated as i have been off the site lately touring the world looking at new Husabergs.
ORANGEBERG will be at the ride with an extensive range of gear and spares nobody should be left looking for spares as i will have tyres tubes and gear to change them, i will bring a tempory workshop with a range of special tools and accessories we hope to have a new larger merchandise trailer built and stocked up by then which will also house a small workshop.
I can supply octane booster in small doses if riders are worried about unleaded pump fuel.
I dont doubt several other forms of octane booster in various forms will also be shared around the campfire after the days ride.
If any body has any special requests be sure to call me on 02 63603800 or shoot me an email at : [email protected]

Force Ride 2008

Hi Guys, I'm looking forward to going on the 2008 Force Ride - hope it has stopped raining by then....if it doesn't I don't think dust will be a problem!!

RE: Force Ride 2008

The riding in the area where the Force ride is being held just gets better with every drop of rain, hopefully the rain will keep coming up until the week of the event and then some nice clear days for the ride.
