'09 Subframe fuel tank ??

to no one in particular and to most in general

what a shame none of you have the skills or know a man that can turn the F.i. down. that's what you should really be doing! if i can get 4 hours out of one of those neolithic carbs then i just know you can get even more out of Fi?

why don't you find out how the injection programme and mapping can be modiifed? why can't one of you go 1%, 2%, 3% leaner in your fuel delivery?

after all, all you have to do is sit there with a compyuter? or is it that the people who couldn't even change a MJ but could strip and rebuild a computer: can work a computer but can't get their head around fuelling a bike?

you'd think between the lot of you you could actually think that this is the answer but nope! you have all that technology and yet you want to carry more fuel and in the wrong place on the bike?

the computer meets the ironmonger!

BTW - and not so's you would dream of doing anything about it but the best place for any extra weight is down behind the front wheel......

but as this post is mainly a piss-take please note it does contain a message. suggest you all start talking fuel mapping and start sharing proper info. there are countless people on here that have given away info worth a fortune, for free, and happily done it too. myself being foremost at this along with lineaweaver etc.

so stop gassing on about larger fuel tanks and start talking Fi.

regards

Taff I want both, bigger tanks & better economy !!!!!!!!!!

start weaving your magic mate cause Dakar 2010 is calling !

Good point, Taffy, that there may be more economy to be gained from the EFI system. Unfortunately, 3% won't be enough. A friend of mine ran out of fuel today at 39 miles at a hare scramble in Tennessee. He needed to go almost 50 miles. That means he needed 20% more fuel to make it without a fuel stop. I don't think it is possible to get that added distance with the EFI mapping. We need more fuel capacity.

sorry

but you're wrong. that is if you think that i really meant 1,2,3%. i didn't. if you think you can't lean it off more, you're wrong too. fact is, it takes great skill and the factory didn't show any talent with the keihin carb. they bsaically ran with the needle all the SM boys were running long before they were OEM in 2004. they learnt nothing over the next 4 years and even though they learnt nowt they were given an even more technical toy to play with!

i can easily do a 2 hour enduro on 7.5litres and 3 years ago i did 4 hours on 9 litres in a race. it was actually longer.

i argued for hours and hours on here that Fi would be no better and it isn't. the blokes that can set a carb could probably set the Fi as well and also those that couldn't set a carb will not set the Fi either. wo don't really know how they work at present either.

just a clueless bunch of workshops and customers. when boss fits a 180MJ and a 50PJ, when other dealers don't even touch the bikes - well it bodes badly.

the difference this time is that at least with a carb you sell hard parts and someone like me makes his living. with Fi the phucking programme would be cloned and downloaded by hackers probably. lovely thought isn't it!

Hey Gazza,
Before i bought my 09 450 from valley force husaberg, i had a good test fang on their demo bike which has already had the subframe made into a fuel tank!!!
Richie down their modified it, and to my knowledge had no drama making it fuel tight!

yeah we have converted 5 '09 bikes now and all work well.

We have a conversion kit & instructions for sale if anyone is interested

I will try to stay cool on this one! What bodes badly is ones own idea, that does not
match others!

i have an 09 Fe 450 and i love the fuel injection system on mine and its very economical starts straight away runs mint i cant fault the bike other than my peers have no faith in it and think it's going to fall apart the only issue that I've had is a few loose spokes

Hi Boss, If your running big jets in these things "Good for you"'! when the ISDE was here in 1998 the jetting was incredibly big, fat what ever term you like and they ran like trains, hard and strong. So go the BIG jets and feel how good you darn bike can be instead of a weazing hollow powered mess. FI is unreal, I think some people dont like it because they cant mess with it and make it as badly tuned as their carb's? wonder how many pigeons this cat will catch?LOL
Best Regards
Sutto
ps. Sorry for getting off line with the tank thing, but the sub-frame tank is a good idea as it is only about 4ltrs (3.8kg)anyway, most riders backsides weight more than that?

my 20 cents worth= i love the fuel injection on my RMZ450 but on my '09 FE450 it needs to be played with cos' the way it is from the factory i would rather a properly set up carby any day!

Maybe it's better to split this thread.

I have the User Setting Tool for some time now, and I wonder what do I want to change. On my previous bikes there were always flat spots, where I wanted to correct, but here everything feels perfect. If you think the bike is not set up correctly, then you better get the Map Switch and test the racing map of the CDI, as it IS the normal map if you ask me. Also setting the CDI to disable the O2 sensor and engine limitation give some extra power. See this thread: http://www.husaberg.org/index.php?name= ... pic&t=9758

Gazza, I am very interested in your kit with instructions. Where can I purchase?

Call Bryan at SeaDoo West on +61 8 9409 3011 or email him on [email protected]

He has done all the subframe conversion kits for our rallye 570's (7 in all now)

It will cost about $350AUD, the QD connector is the expensive part, plus he has to machine a few bits as well.

But it is a complete kit and comes with instructions and all the bits to do it inc the right sized thread tap etc

to all the guyts riding with the subframe tank: did you alle have the same problems with the leaking subframe spot, or was this just bad luck for sabern?

some are thinnner than others, just need to pack it, use a rubber seal on the screw etc.

Others have no leakage at all, seems luck of the draw

is there any pics of the final kit?? is the plastic durable enough to hold the fuel for a long time? or will the plastic start to lose its properties?
