06 FE650 cylinder head installation problem

Good day gents...and ladies, I just had the almighty exhaust valve spring brake on me. I replaced them all with a set from Taffy and the installation went just fine. However, when putting the whole thing back together, I noticed that the piston gets stuck at TDC while trying to kick it over. it...

camchain replacement procedure, remove head? (05 fe550)

So I got a cam chain, and valve rocker arms, and a local engine guy is doing the work. He's very experienced with ktm, but not so with husaberg. Apparently on some ktm's it's necessary to remove the head to replace the cam chain. Is that so on the berg? Anyone got a link to a quick outline of...

    Steering Head play

Hello all, I thought I would share with you today my new cool tool. It's a Snap on adjustable 3/8 crows foot wrench. It's got inch and mm settings for a maximum opening of 1 1/8. Good enough to adjust the steering head nut on our Husabergs which is 27 mm or 1 1/16. I just did a minor snug up...

    Head Gasket

I noticed a topic a while ago about head gaskets. My advise is never reuse them, like toilet paper, they are not designed to be used again. After market head gaskets are available from me for about half the price of OEM ones. When I had the die made we smoothed out the edges and thickened up...

    head stem angle

Hi all, does anyone know for sure if there was a change in steering head angle between '04 and '05 models? I have my berg and my bro-in-law's bike side by side, and it appears that the forks are slightly more raked out on his. It was purchased as an '05, but a few things have caught my...

    loose head set

I recently greased up the head set for the second time this year and found great difficulty in readjusting the bearings. i found that even with excessive preload on the adjustment nut there was still detectable play. so i dropped the forks right out the yokes and checked the lower stem bolt and...

    Head light...06/08???

I must have bought all the wrong parts or read the Berg manual upside down. Opted for the "diamond" shaped headlight mask as listed on the Berg site. My 2008 FE650E did not come with a headlight but the wiring harness was there. Hunted for the light/lens that matches and to my surprise the...

Head stem and sw. arm bolts - quick greasing?

Did a re-grease & check on my head stem bearings a week or so ago, managed to hold the forks and pack grease into the bottom bearings and do the top bearing / whack a bit of extra grease into the head yube for good measure, so didnt actually remove the whole box and dice. once I had it back...

    Using a 650 head for a 400

I recently won a cilinder head of a 650 '02 on ebay, is it possible to use it on my FE400? (had the idea of flowing this head and then put it on my 400 engine.) Will there be any power gain (bigger valve's?) Note: I only won the cilinder head, not the rocker cover.

How Difficult to Replace Valve Cover and Clinder Head Gasket

i have some mechanical backround, and have rebuilt auto engines before, but i've heard that the 'bergs are very different animals and require alot of care when rebuilding. the bike sat for a year or so prior to me getting it, and the gaskets for the valve cover and the cases are weeping oil...

    Steering head frustration

Since the first day I have owned this new 06 FS it has had a click in the steering head area. Sounds and feels like a loose bearing setup but I can not get rid of it. If you push the bike into a 4inch high curb it will 'click' going up on initial impact and 'click' when it hits the ground...

I've got a deeply pitted valve seat on my 2004 fc450, and everyone who can fix it is on holidays here for the whole of August. I have a complete head from an 03 650 and was wondering if it could be used without any major modification
