where's the 2009 Hbg?

BMW has thrown down the guantlet and showed their new 450 in international competition, and has let it be known that they will be funding a BMW (lead by Scott Summers) and Husqvarna (led by Shane Watts?) for GNCC competition. I hope Hbg is testing that new bike and is ready to fund top level racers for next year.

So, in the them of Spaghetti-O's a few years ago (where's Waldo?), where is the 2009 Hbg? I have seen a rumor that there was one at Akropovic for testing. In this day and age when most folks over the age of 5 yrs have a camera in their phone, I can't beleive that no photos have materialized.

As great as my 496 is, I can't wait to see if Hbg can do what Husky did in 1986 with the te510 or Hbg did in 1991 (yes, I know that these are not the first years of production of these machines, but those were the years that the bikes were "finished", available to the general public, and had a profound impact on the future of dirt bikes).

I'm 90% sure that I want to replace my 496 with the '09, but don't want to put my steed up for sale until I know for sure what the new bike is (I will sell my bike this fall when folks are buying, assuming that a production version will be ready prior to the 1st WEC round in March 2009 (I will be snowmobiling during the winter)).

Kinda makes you wonder how many 08's they are going to sell.

I am going to wait for the 09' as well.

I think they may have made a slight error buy not getting it out as an 08'. Hopefully it will not hurt them.

I presume that they are "fine-tuning" it for production, without the "glitches" that hurt the 2001/2002 models. The 2001 model was very bad by Hbg PR, I don't think that Hbg can afford to do it wrong again. BTW, lets hope that they don't use the faulty KTM gas cap.

True. Better safe than sorry.

When I told my dad my gas cap leaked, he told me the last gas cap he had leak was on his Wizzer.....

I have heard via dealer via Hbg Australia that Hbg are not going to make many '08 bikes for just that reason and to make sure the floors are clear for when the '09 arrrives !!

But if you need an '08, as I do, don't wait order one now or you will miss out then have to wait until Q3/Q4 2008 for the '09's to arrive.

Based on the numbers bandying around Australia will run out of '08's before the end of Q1 !!!

My dealer has limited a allocation and has already presold all but about 2 or 3 bikes !!

There may be something to this "gloves off dirt bike battle"between the euro boys.Buell announced today they want no part of this and have put all plans to introduce a dirt(MX) bike on hold after announcing otherwise only a few months ago at a dealer meeting.Things getting too hot in the kitchen?

Are We There Yet?

Very much looking forward to some spy photos of the 09 redesign. Fuel injection is my guess. I hope they keep the tubular CroMoly frame. If they go aluminum perimeter then so be it.

Spoke to the owners of a very large bike chain here in brisbane about getting a berg dealership. He said that they will wait till 2009 as this is when the new berg will come out. HBG have allegedly employed 220 people full time developing the new bike, he didnt give much away but he said it will be a good enough bike that they will take in the berg deal.

HBG have allegedly employed 220 people full time developing the new bike,

No way that these numbers are correct.
Worldwide KTM has about a total of 1600 employes, so the number of 220 developing-people at Husaberg can´t be correct.
Even 22 might be a wish...

Some info can be found on www.ktmpowersports.com

could perhaps some of these 220 be ktm employes by any chance?
if you look at all the engineers, designers, techs and riders that it takes to design any new piece of machinery 220 people involved is not alot.
lets hope these numbers are correct other wise its back to figuring out all the problems of a new bike all over again.

On the german husaberg homepage they showed a picture of a husaberg and wrote that this should be a prototype of the upcoming generation presented on eicma in italy on november. But it was clear that the photo sowed a toy. A joke i guess. So today i called Husaberg and they didn´t told me if there is a new motorcycle to see on eicma in november but they also didn´t say no. So we´ll have to wait and see what husaberg will present to the world in november.
