i just want to know what pipes we're fitting in the 400/450 range that are road or trail legal?

not interested in the open 95DB stuff like the rino.

do they make a Doma, DEP, or CRD? over here in europe for the bergs?
what's available in the states?
what was the FP like or is it strictly track based stuff?
i see the akropovic is for the 650 only.

It would be nice if we had the option of an aftermarket exhaust here in California. Noise is the major issue here and there are none that I know of that meet the new sound requirements for public land use.

Loud pipes are about as popular as a social disease at a church picnic.

In Arizona they are talking about restring all aftermarket parts. Of course the bill is written by people who do not know anything about the sport.

Acrapovic makes exhausts that are EU street legal and they do have some for the Husabergs.

cheers kenny

i've been to their site and it only quotes a racing one for the 650. is that old news and they make one for the 450?

Not got round to looking at aftermarket systems yet. Mine came with a Rino end can fitted plus the standard. The Rino is loud at full chat but I can't tell the difference at low revs, a deeper note yes but not louder. I,m not sure if my standard can has been tampered with and some of the packing removed but both sound too loud to get through the next MOT.

I've spent more time with 2-strokes in the past where the the exhaust system can be tuned but I'm still not sure what effect the system has on 4-strokes. I get the feeling that the downpipes are most important?

downpipes

well i'd never ever heard this said before until about 2 months ago when it was mentioned. don't suppose that the 'owners doc' was an influence on anyone was it?????

dale says that even the 32mm i.d. pipes from the 650 help. well low and behold i've just bought an entire FS650 system from germany for £30 including postage :D :D :D :D

i'll sell the middle and tail on and seems i may have got the downpipes for free! however the gap between the 550s (at 28mm id) and the 650s (at the aforsaid 32mm id) is huge and a halfway pipe at 30mm id would have been ideal. alas i got a price from someone down here who used to be cheap and he said £200!!! right-sure!!!

i'll pm you with a request. please go see.

I've got a akropovic end can with removable baffle in my garage that i used to run on my 450 FC with standard headders, much better noise wise than the rino / doma & fp system i ran before even with the baffle out

Hi Taffy
If you pop into your local bike shop and ask to have a look at the 2004/05 Bickers off road catalogue, starting on page 19 you will find an exhaust available for husaberg's that is road legale and not bad to look at, a few dyno pics to look at too.
The makers name is Higashi ? never herd of them me self, part of the Gualdi company or so it says.
My local shop gave me the catalogue so when i shop i can go armed with part nos coz its one of them rare husawotsits ain't it mate.

had to come back for spell check

450 AKRO headers ARE available for the 450.
Alex from DCR runs a full system on his and its not a converted 650 system.
FWIW, I run a full Ti FP and was tested at 97dcb at 4000rpm, which surprises me

well i have yet to look back and see which kind soul said that the 650 had 32mm i.d. downpipes. i've just received a full FS650 system from germany-cheap too i'm pleased to say and just as well!

the downpipe tube diameter is the same as the 550's at about 29-29.5mm no different, just the same. borrocks!

the tailpipe is the same profile as the usual husey post 2001 pipes however the tail hole is absolutely enormous and i would say that it's nearly 60-70mm across! it's all chromed up so i guess that it's original.

any comments (on the tailpipe)?

Yeah, I'd hazard a guess that the core has been replaced with an aftermarket one. it's the common "cheap" alternative to buying a slip-on and contrary to popular opinion doesn't actually prove much benefit at all over the stock mx one.

Cheers,
Simon

IMHO stick with the stock pipe until it rattles to pieces and then get an after market one, as the Husaberg dealers wants an arm, leg & left testicle for a genuine replacement.

Taffy my first berg was an 02 400 and i fitted a replacement core and tailpipe off dcr it only cost £50.00 made a big difference and passed a sound test at one of the wor meetings.

Erm, actually it was me..and I stand by it
I have my standard 04 650 downpipes here now and have rechecked the id..32mm.
any chance you have been sold the wrong pipes?
