Mechanical engineer by degree, having worked 2/3 of my career in commercial HVAC equipment sales and the other 1/3 in industrial construction.
Interesting to see all of the technical backgrounds here, but not surprising. However I've ridden with a number of folks over the last 25 years who don't know right hand threads from left (they're mostly street riders though).

Hobby was auto body work. But it's distant past now. GM mechanic 5 years at dealer. Heavy truck mechanic 13 years. In the last 9 years my own boss, I am reefer mechanic now. U want me to fix a reefer for ya? Haha. Investing in income real estate.
