:D Gentlemen: Any chance someone could post a map or address for the local race/ride areas (al la mapquest, etc). I am thinking of going but I like hotels/motels, and I do not want to haul my camper down there from Oregon. If I can go, I will assuming the Berg is up to speed.

i think you northwest lads ought to be flying in, borrowing a berg and returning the favour next spring when everyone travels through on their way to canook country! :D :D

Hello everyone!!!!

So, I mentioned way earlier in this post that I would like to attend. In case you didn't read my "life-story" post, I am living in Europe now. I will be back in the states for a wedding that is on Feb. 11th. This, combined with the 38 days of vacation per year I have to burn while working here, makes it quite condusive for me to join ya'll in 'Zona.

The first hurdle I must clear is:

Does anyone have a bike I can use???

You break it you bought it policy for parts is mandatory, of course.

If someone can commit to this, I will buy my plane tickets.

Beggers can't be choosers, but I'd prefer not to have to pull over every mile and pump up tires or tighten seat mounts, if you get my drift.

Please let me know.

Thanks,

-Parsko

PS- And who's this guy [marq=down] [/marq]that's keeps spyin on me over this line???

Parsko,
Still have my 96 FC 501. Is in great shape with pretty new tires. Has a skidplate, pro tapers and handguards. You wan't to ride it be my guest.
Dan

If anyone has a spare bike please bring it. As Bobzilla found out in Moab, you just may be riding it yourself before all is done.

Dan,

That sounds perfect. I'd certainly appreciate it. Berger also offered, but not sure if he has any bergs. You're both top notch folk!!!

I'm going to start researching plane tickets. My company gives me one free trip home, but I'm gonna use that to get to the states. I'll probably go home for a few days, then fly out. Are we going to start riding Wed, thurs, or Fri? I'll double check, but I'd like to possibly arrange a ride from the Airport. Any takers? I assume I should fly into Pheonix, right?

-Parsko

Hey Luke,
The plan is to start riding on Wed.. At this point I don't know how many people will actually show up by then, but that is the original plan. I am sure I can arrange a ride for you from the airport. I imagine you will want to come in Tuesday evening with a departure of Sunday evening or early Monday morning.
Yes, you will fly into Phoenix.

Parsko,
Just let me know which one you want to ride. Berger, if he rides your bike, I can bring the spare along. Will there be some place to store it while on reserve?
Dan

My berg is for sale, so availability is uncertain. If I still have it someone can ride it.

Would there be any interest in a track day at one of the local MX tracks?

I personnally have no interest is a track day, but it could probably be arranged as an option. I am open to suggestions.

This is your 2 month reminder 8O . Towards the end of this month I will try to get a head count of those committed to coming. I will also take your lodging requirements and start to get that in order.
Let me know if you need anymore specifics between now and then.

Cheers,
Ken

Well all,
I have kicked this around for a few months now and seem to have some interest.
I am proposing a Force ride in the Phoenix area with all comers welcome.
.......
Daily rides will be in many of the excellent local riding areas we have as well as previouse years Enduro and Desert Scramble courses. There will be rides available for all skill and endurance levels.
.......
Here is a link to some helmet cam video's of some of the local riding trails and area's.

We can make this thing as big or as small as we want to. Any idea's or comments are welcome.

Cheers,
Ken

Do they have any singletrack out there, Ken ?

I hope we won't have to ride in any sand, you don't have sand, do you?

I'm in. I just need a bike. Anyone got a spare Berg for me????

By the way, Ken, remind me to kiss you next time I see because of the dates you have chosen!!!!!!!!

More details to come....

-Parsko

I have a '03 501 you may use, it's time for roller rocker brgs and a few other minor details, but it should be ready by then

Lubbz,
Bike set up.
Intermediate tires seem to work best. I would not recommend soft compounds. Heavy duty tubes with slime are a must.
Put as much armor on your bike as possible. A skid plate with some wrap around protection and a GOOD set of handguards are the minimum.
I would consider bringing 13 and 14 tooth front sprockets.

I run a 15:45, this is fast terrain out here.

Shoulder, knee, and elbow pads are a must; cactus are not forgiving 8O

Permits...To be completely legit to ride you should have a "State Trust Land Permit" they are available by mail. They run like $15 for an individual and $20 for a family. They are good for a year. I have never seen the permits enforced and I would say less than 25% of the people have them out here, still...they cant hurt to have.
I'll bring extra forms for permits, but realistically, you need one per truck, not one per person.
Bring whatever state ID you have for the bike, proof of ownership etc..

More to follow as I think about it.

Good luck Hakan.

OK Brian....what have you been up to and why wont YOU be riding your Berg???
Inquiring minds want to know!! Catch us up to speed please.

Hey Bob,
We have plenty of options for lodging. Everything from staying on my sofa and camping in my back yard to motels to a KOA very similar to the setup at Moab.
As soon as I can get some firm committments from people we can move forward.
I can put up some guys and Nic said he may be able to put some guys up. We just need to get a better idea of the group size and there expectations for lodging.
I have been researching a couple of different scenario's.
I am open to any suggestions. I would like to start firming this up by the end of the month.

I'll be dry camping in our motorhome, if anyone has an RV, bring it and I'll show you the best choices for camping for free.

Hmmm,
I'm starting give a jaunt down south some serious thought. My folks recently moved to Surprize, Az just outside of Phoenix and they've been wanting me to give them a visit. If the staging areas are within 100 miles of Surprize, I could stay with them.

Log

The Natonal is about 16 miles from Surprise, Az

If berger is planning on riding the sycamore area, then you'll have an hour drive to the ride area.
