Hello!
I tried doing a cold start after 2 weeks of not running my fe650.
2 weeks ago everything was good and working but now after i got it running, it ran at very high rpms, i tried pushing the choke back in and then it ran fine on normal rpms
like 2 weeks ago. 5 seconds later, it died, clearly because the engine wasn't warm yet. I am afraid to run it at such high rpms; the rpms were so high that the kill switch didn't take effect.
Could it be fuel contamination because i left the gas tank on accidentally for the 2-week time gap and the temperature has dropped from like
+3 degrees celsius to -9 degrees celsius. What should I do next?
Thanks!

Hello
with the correct choke jet, the bike starts rich and then after 1-2-3 seconds it is too rich.

when too rich it doesn't want to rev out, it chugs half happy.

If a choke jet is a little lean, the bike struggles to start but after 1-2-3 seconds the choke is now perfect so it revs its tits off all the way to the sky!

I suggest you go through this pain once more and start the bike.
warm it up. very warm.

turn the pilot screw underneath in and out and find the highest idle. it will idle too high now.
reduce revs ONLY with the idle screw.
AND NOW FOR THE SECOND TIME; turn the pilot screw underneath in and out and find the highest idle. it will idle a little higher this time.
reduce revs ONLY with the idle screw.

If you have undone the pilot screw a little, the next time it will have the extra idle fuel and the choke fuel and may not rev out.

If you turned the PS inwards then it will rev out again.

count the turns out by counting what it takes to close the screw in wards to a stop.
1 turn = need a smaller PJ
1.25-1.75 turns is great!
2 turns + = you need a larger PJ.

Buy and fit the new PJ and start all over again.

the 650 likes an 80 or an 85 choke jet. check what you have sometime.

I just remembered that I had no seat cover on; could this be the problem because the airfilter inhaled too much air?
