All,

Doing a bit of research for fuel injection purposes...

I ask, because I need to determine where it would be more important to have added accuracy.

a.k.a. You don't need to distinguish between 97% and 100% throttle, cause as far as the motor knows, you're WOT! But, for cruising through tight woods, it might make a difference to know 22% vs. 25%.

I don't know if ANYthing makes a difference yet...

PS- This isn't a vote to see who is the biggest sissy, please be honest

i dunno, luke, i think you got too much time on your hands and too much coffee.

Ken,

Frankly, that is still in the works. I have most of the major bits sorted, but have to make decisions about things like memory, hence the pole. I'll keep you posted as I start to get a bit more organized.

Oo, I also bought a berg here, 95 FE501 (see the signature). She's a beaut! Weird top end clink though, like a loose bolt, but all the tappet nuts are okay. Still can't figure out where to buy silicone to seal the rocker. Sometimes I feel like such a dolt here, it's tough! :? So, I haven't riden it too far just yet.

Ned, I'm finally finding some time! The last 8 months have been rough. Too bad I'm driving to Spain on Friday for a week, cause there is a Force ride somewhere around here in two weeks, hmm bittersweet... :D

Parsko, I ride like a squid, but mostly ride 25-75% throttle, rarely idle and occasionaly WOT.

Yeah, I was thinking about my poll last night as I was going to bed (so many jokes!), and realized that I should have been more specific in the 20-60% range, maybe every 10% between those two numbers. I think it's only the guys racing that would spend their time over 60% throttle regularly. I think it also depends on where you ride. In tight trails, you could easily spend a lot of time below 30%, where you are feathering the whole time. But, places like the desert, well that is mostly 50% and above I would guess.

hmmmmmmm....

On my 06 fe-650 I spend a lot of time in the 20 to 60% zone. More than half throttle on this bike requires good traction and a straight stretch for me.

Using data aquisition and on average. 0 - 40%.

Regarding fuel injection finest resolution is often most appreciated
between 0 and 25%.

The above is quite subjective regarding displacement, turn ratio, throttle body design, size, etc.

Dale

I'm gonna say the 20-40% zone is where I spend the most time Luke.

Thanks Dale. I have thought about non-linear "throttle cable guides" lately. I certainly know they exist. That does do the same thing, but is obviously to achieve a linear change in airflow. The TPS turns at the same rate as the throttle body, which may not be as adventegous to what your hand wants. Memory always being an issue, I would like to add sensitivity where it is needed.

Hi Luke,

Resolution is important in the initial throttle blade opening stage.

The Keihin FCR has a "built In" non linear relationship regarding throttle movement vs that of the slide.

Dale

That may be because of my weight (240 in gear) but I am usually between one and two thirds, unless going downhill.

Yes, maybe going too fast at times...

See see said the blind man...

It is quite important to know exactly where "closed" is. It certainly would help set control idle.

Say, the Kehnins have a TPS, don't they? How fancy is it? More imporantly, do you have any charts for an FCR that includes TPS positions?

-Luke

PS Froggy - Your French just took the lead at 83minutes!!! It's too bad, if you ask me

Hi
Well I have some logg file fore TPS at road driving if you are intrest.
The normal butterfly trottel on EFI have the airflow conroll not as good as a normal trottel .

Hey Luke, I never really thought about it before until now but most of my time in the tight stuff; where a turn is usually a 90 around a tree the throttle is usual going from 0 and engine braking to 20-40 range and back again.

Hi Luke,

I voted 20-40%, after some careful thinking. But sometimes like during a valley crossing I'll be at 50 -70%, on the higher end of the midrange keeping the motor pulling all the time. The bike seems to work better if you don't wind it up too tight, and just keep it pulling, especially in the cross grain chop.

In the tighter terrain over loose material, from closed or just off idle engine response is important as I don't want a sudden blast of power to break the rear wheel loose.

My two cents........

Because I tend to stall a bit, I usually keep it more open than I should, and to drag the clutch, am I the only one?

Probably the rider's weight having something to do with it.

Also having one less tooth in the front must also explain why I tend to open a bit more than usual too.
