Clark -> If you sometimes have a hard time understanding some peoples humour then think about guys like me (and the greeks and the germans and so on) who dont even have english as our native language 8O

I mostly get what Taf (not just Taffy of course) is meaning by looking at the bigger picture of the message but sometimes that is far from enough. The use of emoticons is very important when using sarcasm, irony and so on :!:

Taffy,i am not sure how a SM forum will be of benefit to my business.i really had not given that any thought.obviously youve got some ideas :propellerhead: .would you mind offering them to me so i can see if they have promise.if they are really good i might flip you a couple valve cover gaskets or something :!: really, this separate forum idea stems from the significant efforts by manufactures like Husaburg offering cutting edge machines.excellence is what enthusiasts really want to have and if a SM forum could help drive that market and actually increase Husaberg popularity ,then i am all for it :wav: perhaps a few more of the SM riders that visit this site can offer their opinions about such a forum and if it might create a rooted following that stimulating rather than divisive.dan.

i KNEW this was all a sales pitch!

the site is as far as i'm aware for owners to exchange information first and foremost. it isn't a marketing ploy for dealers or a pawn to that end.

as i said at moab. and i did. the biggest difference IMHO between NA and the UK is that we just don't see the dealer as on our side at all. we see it as a cautious agreement where we may work together but always with a knife behind our backs-just incase!

this 'closeness' in the states i find hard to work around. i don't like being manipulated and i don't mind saying it.

if dealers want to share the vast knowledge they gain through their proffession that's great but to prod us like cattle ain't what we're here for. info on good and bad things not just spiel. jedi has a greater responsibility, maybe brett but i doubt it travels lower than that.

i just see everything from certain people now as being profit lead. as proof of your honest and open support to this site (especially but not necassarily only) lets have some info, something that doesn't always end up with a sale.

just once even!

on the above basis it means that many of the posts that dale has done have increased the dealers knowledge so as to increase their profit. something i'm sure he has often thought long and hard about. hard earnt knowledge given away so easily.

it's soooo transparant the way people ride on his back.

i have always printed my results here. indeed does that mean that we have several gurus in dealerships now, "i would update that to an '05 sir, yes they do work-i tried it myself (nose starts to grow) and whilst i was at it i would fit this and this. yes i know i'm a fountain of knowledge and thanks for the compliments; but please don't handclap-just throw coins! thank you sir!"

i for one can see where this all came from and the agenda that's being pushed through. i'll be here either way but even if we don't have an SM section-i don't think things will be the same for me again.

regards

taffy

Dan I agree with you......Brett maybe you should encourage your powers to be to open up a site for exactly what we are talking about.... I'll be happy to contribute my time........I'll be racing (#696) at Cascade Locks see you then.....

i can only think you just can't stand back and see that it will damage the forum. seperating people away for an unnecassary reason is not a good step for the forum overall.

Actually I see a necassary reason for the new section, I'm assuming you won't be over there and that's reason enough for me.

Albacore, please keep the cheap shots to a minimum. Voting your choice will be the most productive method of action.

I'm not trying to pick on you in particular, you just happened to be the last in the line.

The way i see it is this, A Husaberg in SM costume is the same as a Husaberg in dirt clothing, bar different wheels and brakes. I've had a berg in sm since 2002 and without the people on this site i doubt i would got another after the 650.
Personally i don't think we need a specific forum for any sport, just for the bike alone is good enough. Those who want can post their sm questions / answers here already.

First of all I'm not taking sides here as yet, but simply hope to add some fresh ideas. The majority of what I read on this site is from good old off road riders who ride, drink beer, and bench race, oh... and like to jack around. My kind of chap. There are a few who MX, Enduro, or SM their bikes. We don't have a separate forum to help the double jumpers tweak their suspension, the Enduro riders turn their bikes into timekeeping submarines, or SM riders tweak their brakes, suspension, tires in a roadracing manner. I guess if any of these categories rise to such levels they demand separate attention and the extra work it will add to Schwimm, so be it. The question should revolve around whether SM is at this level or not. I don't honestly know, but FWIW I don't see many of the street replica SM models on the public roads as of yet here in the USA. Maybe in Europe? This is an international site. Finally, I don't see the SM riders as a threat, but an ally. This isn't an Indian vs HD kind of thing. Anything that helps the sport in a way that Husaberg sells more bikes is a good thing.

Holy Mother of Husaberg!
As a long time dirt rider, street rider and SuperMoto rider, I totally support a SuperMoto Forum. These are unique bikes with unique issues that happen to encompass the aspects of motorcycle riding I like most.
Husaberg is a tiny player in the motorcycle game but SuperMoto products make up a significant portion of their sales, I think that counts for something.

All this cheap name-calling and infantile biggotry is in bad taste, even as humor.

We're all on one wheel here! :bounce:

in preparation...

Hey guys,

In preparation of adding the forum if the current split holds, here's the only way that the forum will be added:

I need at least 2, but would prefer 3 moderators with some SM experience for the category. BrianSM posted in this topic that he would offer Brett time on a different site. If he could do the same for this instead, that would take care of one. Once the moderators are in place, it will be their job to move the topics that belong elsewhere, those being topics which better fit in the other categories.

Voting ends Friday night at midnight.

thanks,

I'm not sure if I have enough experience to do the job but put me down as one of the mods for the sm forum Jason.

I might just be able to handle one forum unlike several last time round

Cheers,
Simon

you got it! ;)

Absolutely sir, and thanks very much for your help(again) :D

It shouldn't be bad at all sir. Between 2-3 moderators in one cat, it should be a breeze to maintain comparatively.

thanks again,

Good to see a shift in the poll results! Seems like you have enough volunteers schwim, but if you find yourself needing another motarderator, let me know. :)

Alright guys, mod positions are taken care of.

All that's left now is to see what happens by Friday.

thanks,
