Hi guys,

Please allow me to take this moment to ask you to ensure that it stays lighthearted.

thanks,

Damn Taf, you just keep oozing love, don't you. Did you quite smoking today? Dude, please keep in mind that many, if not most, of the riders are not necessarily inclined to do the things that others might do. Most people just got on the thing and ride. Again, I agree with you to a certain extent, but these guys have a valid request, and you are ruthlessly bashing them. If I was plastic man, I would reach out across the mighty Atlantic and give you big ol' hug right now!!! You might want to take a look here, I hope this helps.

Taffy

I must concur with Taffy on this point. In fact when I was poking around KTM Talk the other day I was thinking the same thing. This site is quite a mess. The home page has so many categories that you must scroll WAY down to get to the end. By the time you have scrolled to the end you forgot why you came in the first place.

I vote for no Supermoto forum. Don't turn this into KTM or Thumpertalk with endless forums.

Where's the love? This is the best damn web page on the internet and it just happens to be about bikes that we all love. I feel that no mater what changes, if any are made, that Schwin will still give us the best site out there.

I think that went quite a few posts back.

Taffy = Prick, 1st class
As far as I'm aware, YOU run this site Json not Taffy..''now if it all gets too technical for you all then we'll have a SM forum''......is that his decision to make?? I'm pretty sure he thinks it is.
If the 'I'm always right, everybody do as I say' fool looked at some of the supermoto results he may find that Husaberg are currently wiping the floor in the british championships with the competition. Not that he would, mind, as sm racing doesnt interest him, in the same way his particular form of racing doesnt interest me...its called choice. If you don't wanna read it then dont open the page.

It amazes me how many of you over the water seem to enjoy being berated by this guy....

Taffy...the type of guy you always find in the kitchen at parties.... and always try to avoid

no to a different forum. this whole website grinds to a halt somedays and the topics can get a bit desperate. i see diversification as weakness.

the KTM site looks a bloody mess quite frankly. their experiment in all things including husabergs makes them broad with no depth.

what makes a SM different anyway? so the 5 of you talk on your own, what have you discovered? 5 x nothing is nothing?

whilst 90% of our experiences are relevant to each other why build a partition?

sometimes i don't know where you lot are coming from and that's dangerous.

Taffy

Then why have a Husaberg forum?

The topics will still appear on the all up board for latest posts anyway. It's just that it'll all be nice and tidy in its own section.

Gix

i've met nearly all these lads but i haven't met you. you're the odd one out here. humour is never dead i'm afraid you just got really personal and blew it!

you made it personal gix-you lost it :( :(

anon

the bikes have 90% in common and that's the important bit. everyone from one area can help another area. you don't have to be an SM rider to know how to set the tappets. with the site how it is you can get your questions answered quickly and there is lots of broad debate. it's good stuff.

MOAB only just worked. we had 3 groups on the 2nd and 3rd day of some 6 riders. sometimes less than half the bikes were huseys... in most cases it was the regular UHE members who made it work in the evenings. everyone went to bed straight after the meal on the friday but i went and got bob out of bed, we started a camp fire and schwim found us later.

three of the most regular visitors here. it's bob that ahs sorted this weekend for the boys...

i doubt MOAB would have worked if you had pulled any three UHE husey owners out. and some days that's how this site gets!

take away froggy's incessant starting troubles and the threads have at times been-well-"thread bare!" (pun intended).

i don't think people realise how devoid of any real banter this site gets sometimes. it's schwim's skills that keep it easy to work with and everyone gets their posts answered etc.

Taffy

what they need to add in these forum software is an option to elect to see certain forums and not others.

This software (PHPBB) does not allow it, nor does KTMTalk's (Invision).

I think that's part of the issue. But I also see a very good Supermoto board on Thumpertalk.com, sponsored by ... Husaberg :)

I think you could report some of your posts over there and find/start threads that are more specific to Supermoto than to Husaberg.

After all a supermoto wheel can fit a bunch of bikes, and Husaberg share the same hubs as many other makes.

A "What wheel should I get to convert my bike to supermoto?" question would certainly get more answers on TT than here.

ciao tutti !

I'll stay whatever You decide, important is to decide.... do not make another day at work thing about this.

I love SM and I do it with Husaberg

how about just putting SUPERMOTO in the subject line of general posts ? And we trendy dolts can just select subject matter at our own peril :)

sensible answer brett. don't forget that we took the decision to break up the site into the various parts of the bike and not the type of use the bike would get.

do you feel we should have an MX, enduro, trail, SM, RR sections and drop the fuel, suspension, mechanical etc sections?

or do you suggest that we subdivide even more with the SM and presumably others getting sections that cater just to their branch of the sport?

what about the quad guy?

what about dale? the only flattracker i ever met here?

surely the problem isn't that we don't have SM specific sections but that those interested in SM have to file through countless posts looking for something relevant to their sector? there aren't that many are there?

if that's the case, a dedicated section isn't going to improve anything. lack of posts and info is up to us. the lack of a subsection won't have hindered anyone here.

you have either been posting something about SM or you haven't. that it's a small minority of this site is nobodys fault and certainly not a fault of the layout!!!!!!!!!!!!

can i suggest that things still fall into the groups that json has set up BUT THAT WE HAVE A COLOUR CODING SYSTEM WHICH WE CAN CLICK ONTO IN THE CORNER. EN, MX, TR, SM, FT, RR, FX, QD, GEN. so you still have jsons sections and can rumage through them looking for all threads that have SM in the corner of the thread title? maybe even the letters on a coloured background 'spot' like TR on a green dot, MG on a blue dot, that way your eye goes looking for the colour as easily as the letters SM etc.

perhaps we can have a leather questions as well! fancy that when it gets off subject in SM:
will my leathers stretch on the rack while i'm being whipped
my goggles only mist up when being spanked

:D :D :D

any good?

ciao again,

I thought again and I think it would be cool to have under GENERAL a dedicated SuperMoto -forum
I think no data is lost, new members would find SM stuff faster, etc.
And I think Supermoto members will increase, and there should be a place to for Husaberg Supermoto.
Does it cost more ? What harm it really would do ?

After the Formula 1 fiasko yesterday, I think too tight rules and no flexibility starts many bad things in this small world....

Ciao

a camel is a racehorse designed by a committee!!!

only joking!

fin, ktmtalk and tt have thousands upon thousands of members and can support different sections with activity on most but the 'exotics' on TT is like a graveyard. not enough happens there. nobody crosses into anoither forum to talk of their bike yam to honda etc-doesn't happen.

this site is too small for that kind of boxing.

ktmtalk is an example of having a section for everything and in the end having nothing. i think it's an awful site. just awful.

how can having a dedicated section make you have more members? you join because you learn something or because you want to give.

we have a very small site and growth is down to 1 or 2 per week. the vast majority of which don't participate at all. if we don't all join in together on the opening screen i can see things going west...

why are SM riders so special they need their own section. do they feel deprived? why are you so different that you have to be treated differently?

i wouldn't mind but those calling loudest contribute the least. simon excepted. which comes first the customer to get the site they want or the site to get the customer? i think that we should see a greater increase in SM posts before we subdivide and if you notice on TT they have usually waited until there was clearly a demand.

they have 20,000 members we have less than 1400.

regards

Taffy

KTMTalk is not an awful site, Taffy. You are judging pretty quickly. You've had an account there for no more than 2 weeks.

The problem is not too many forums but a software which does not let you select only what you want to see, that's all I have to say.

nick

i have been a member there 2 months today and not two weeks. however i only joined because brett asked me too. otherwise i wouldn't have done so.

i think i answered my 5 posts in one hit. this is where i choose to spend my time supporting this site. as you can tell, i don't believe in dilution but dedication.

can i apologise to three of you for offering that you go forth! this was done after 6 pints of guinness on saturday night and just proves the one about "better they think you're a ...". so sorry about that.

i have checked the results of last sunday weeks enduro again and although i'm now dropped to 3rd i'm contesting the result and hope to be installed in 1st.

i work crazy hours in my job, i work silly hopurs on my bike and yet i still have to cook and clean etc. ok i'm an eccentric but using a 2002 husey 400 i won my second enduro after just 5 years riding dirt.

i'm proud of that and i'm glad i've got something to show for all the effort.

my business is doing poorly and i'm in a tight spot so the bike has become a source of focus way beyond the normal for me. that and personal issues may have made my mouth flow a bit too much.

but i want to keep improving the bike and everyone elses. it's the drive inside me. john macenroe stuff!

Taffy

This is my favorite site on the net and as of now I don't even have a 'berg. I visit here about 3-4 times a day and lots of time don't have anything of value to add and just sit back and gather knowledge. Some of it useful to other brands and to motorcycles in general and also some is helpful in life.

I cant remember the last time I went to a specific forum except for a search for a particular problem ( btw Jason I could not get the new search thing to work for me but that is probably due to my on lack of computer skills). I don't really think a SM forum would be that helpful but on the other it might not hurt but it would be one more thing Jason has to do and one more place to search for a solution that might only be there and not read by the non sm members.

I am not a SM guy but have chunked knobs off on the pavement and got sparks off my foot pegs on the road but........... I am not sure what you would post that would not have a value to all the members about the part of the bike you are talking about. I mean suspension is a major part of the bike and needs to be set up for the type of riding you do but I think you can take mx, off road, desert ,sm, and trail ridding and find some common information.

I know for a fact that the same thing (engine) that makes a SM bike go is the same for mx and enduro. You still gotta know how to set the valves and tune the carb.

Remember we are a small group. Motorcycle riders are less than 1% of the population and Husaberg riders are a grain of sand in the Sahara.

I have not looked much but I would be willing to bet that there is a SM site that is devoted to that discipline (pun intended). They probably have all the cool info for how to catch fluids and which tires work best in the wet bla bla.

Can't we all just get along and help each other with our bergs and have a place for those who are bergless to come and get a fuzzy feeling?

When I recover I will tell you about the ride. Ill just say that Brendan said when it was all done he had enough and didn't want any BONUS miles. Can that boy eat or what? I think FIVE sandwiches on the trail in one day! Jason you are falling down on your job ...... you should have been there so you could tell a good story mine will never compare to yours.

you would have thought that my new thread on 'swing arm pivot pins' would have stimulated a bit of interest but alas SM's are either never ridden, ridden rarely or at the very best-not ridden very hard.

that's the only reason i can imagine that they can all handle so perfectly...

Ya big berk, it's actually due to something called "preventative maintenance" Taffy!

i know you don't know the meaning of those words individually, let alone together as part of a phrase, so please allow me to explain:

It means doing things like greasing parts of the bike that need it regularly and replacing parts following a "schedule", preferably one that involves servicing and/or replacement prior to the end of their useful lives.

I know this will be really difficult for you to fathom but it does also involve putting your hands in your pockets now and again and buying a part or two.

Perhaps you should catch up a bit and add a plancton to your cerebral inventory......

Cheers,
Simon

you've just gone from BW to FT status simon.

i spend plenty on my bike and ride it even more! i'm out nearly every weekend. there is nothing wrong with my money, my bike or my brain.

and less of the winks coz you're not pulling my leg your pulling my chain. if you were half as bright as you say, you would understand that .45mm between the pin and the dowels is way too much.

as it happens i found out today that there is a factory mod for this problem so what do you have to say to that?

mine not only gets dirty and often, which yours doesn't. what do you call an engine rebuild, a tailpipe, racing cam, rad tested, fuel tank, yokes, downpipes, dyno run, forks tuned, autoclutch, LHRB conversion, lowered subframe, taller seat, brisk plug, various jetting changes, spare BV head, ported and oversize valved SV head, and all in what? 9 months!

that on top of the maintenance of a 3.5 year old bike. that's pretty good by any standards. simon you haven't been there, you haven't even started to go there.

why don't you try riding yours instead of talking about it. the last time i recall, riding dirt had you in a right old 2 and 8-so stop being the very tart i'm laughing at.

stick to talking about your dyno testing and the size of the lump in your leathers!

Taffy

I am surprised that a bunch of males in their primes can talk about "SM" for 3 pages without even anybody turning this thread into a dirty one.

Congrats. Can I have a newbie forum? I'd like to ask if a starter relay and a starter solenoid are the same thing but I'm scared to ask in the regular forums (fora?)

Pulling your chain? That's such an insult, I haven't even warmed up yet.. 8O 8O

You do have my profound sympathies though. The brisk plug chop must have been a real challenge, and very time consuming for you. I've got to say, managing a dyno run must also be quite a major feat along with several jetting changes, I think you should rightly be proud of your efforts. I'm very impressed.

As for your hook & bait, nice try, if a little crude in my opinion.

Cheers,
Simon
