As the poll says..

Would you wait a little, and buy the new 2009 570, without knowing if its a great built motor etc etc, or stick with the "safe choice" 2008 650 witch as many has been riding without problems now..

Guess i`m a little scared about all new motors...

??? have i nodded off again? i thot there were no 09 650's :dontknow:

Wtf..

Must admit, that i dont know if it is....
I just assumed!

Please inform me what replaces the 650..

After a quick research, it looks like a 565ccm "570" is replacing the 650, so i edited the first post...

New technology is great! However, there are pitfalls to buying the first year for a "new" product. I am a motorcoach/transit bus mechanic. For our transit ops, we run four 2008 clean diesel coaches. They break down almost daily! Cummins has a great reputaion, but in our application the engineering does not live up to the marketing! Being an early adoptor can be very rewarding if it works out as intended, but.....that is why i bought an 08 550 a couple of weeks ago. I don't want to fix my toy as much as I fix those turd birds. :2gunfire:

What would someone who bought a brand new '01 model say in hindsight?

I bought a new 01 501, and loved the bike. Matter of fact, it's still parked in my garage as my back up bike if the 2004 needs work.

The 01 had case problems, but, as was Husaberg at the time, they replaced the cases for free. And not just the cases, all new bearing to boot. I raced this bike for several seasons, and had very few problems with it, especially in comparison to my brethren that bought japanese four strokes.

Considering that this motor has been around sine 06, and has the crap ridden out of it, and there are currently about 30 of the pre production models around the world being tested, and last wec race was the first real problems they have had, I'd have no worries buying an 09.

KTM's, Honda's, Suzuki's, and Kawasaki's blow up all the time, KTM's less so than the others. This is an old discussion, and I have pointed out several times in the past about walking into shops and seeing blown up YZF's, on the shelves, Honda's that eat valves and heads after 25 hours, Kawasaki's that habitually overheat etc etc.

If I were anywhere else except CA. the 08 650.The 08's are redsticker here and I don't need that. I like what I see with the 09 so far but don't want a first year. I want to learn more first. And I would want another 650, but would buy a 2nd year 570 if all goes well. So I won't vote because I don't want either one.

hmm..

Didnt the new ktm 530 have motor problems as well? I think i read something about a seal, mixing gear/motor oil, and a tranny problem, on thumpertalk recently..

The 530 exc, is also one of the bikes i consider, but after my last bike (wr450f) i must say i want more power.. I ride mostly open(ish) roads, and love high speed wheelies, and the 450 wasnt stronger than it really HAD to be for me.. Did a slip-on, JD kit and hotcams, but it still wasnt enough.

Therefor i must say the 08 650 is high on my list.. Its a power house!

Honda's that eat valves and heads after 25 hours
I never seemed to have that problem with my 05 CRF 450R. I easily had over 100 hrs with only minor valve adjustments until I traded it in and got my 07 450. And I hammered down on that baby.

Sorry, should have been more specific.

The original Honda CRF250X's had this problem, Honda knew about it, and was letting their customers foot the bill. When these first came out they were very popular with some of the older riders in District 37 desert racing, well at least at first they were. Honda did finally fix the problem.

My riding style doesn't require me to have the latest and greatest biike.
I've been trying to figure out a way to get a second old style berg. I would like a 450 to go with my much loved 650.

Got 2 '08 650's great cant beat em'

also got order in and paid deposit for 2 '09 570's

will keep all 4 for awhile

The answer is yes!! The bikes are much better or they would not come to market!! To bad there will not be enough to go around! The investment is high & therfore failure
is not an option!Long live HUSABERG!

The 2009 model has been developed for over 4 years now. I saw them last weekend in the WEC in Wales and they are way ahead of anything else(except maybe BMW). Buy a piece of history and make it quick as there are only 3000 worldwide.

yup and of the 3,000 only 1,100 are 570's worlwide !!!!

50% of the 570's are already pre-sold before they even finish production so I'm lead to believe

I'm curious as to how they insure that the crank bearings have adequate lubrication on start up (and running for that matter) being up at the top of the engine now. Maybe some sort of reed valve system?

For me...I'll take the last year of a production run over the first year of a completely new model. Don't forget that the factory bikes which preliminary testing are done on are treated to service the likes of which "Joe Blow's" bike never will be. There are also potential quality issues between making a handful of "hand made" prototypes and going into mass production.

If this new model does not have some "glitches" in it that need to be ironed out...that would be extremely surprising regardless of how good Husaberg is.

For some, the novelty and (perhaps) performance will outweigh the risks. Whatever floats your boat.

have you noticed the performance visibly better ... does the new set up show a clear advantage?

Goldenboy, The service intervals on the new bike are pushed to the limits to see if
it can handle the likes of joe blow!Remember the water pump design is now 8 years
old & still has problems. However if you did not already place an order you will have
to wait for next year anyway!
