Husaberg pre2000

Love your work guys, very nice looking examples. I have a 2000Fe501. Here in Australia. Trying to work out how to post a picture.

Hi forgot to say the bike has just been rebuilt by prev owner new stater / engine rebuilt /new excel rims tyres and clutch she sounds like race bike with the exhaust that's on it can any one tell me if that's standard?;)

The exhaust looks standard but..........The header pipes stick out and seems to be higher off the case than what I have seen. Either it is just an installation issue or the exhaust may be from a 95-96 electric start model. E-start came out in 1995 and the frames were slightly different that the kick start models. The header pipes were different to accommodate the larger engine cradle (the starter added a few inches).

Your kick stand should rest must higher and should cross over and up past the swing arm.

The graphics and seat cover are an original Husaberg accessory part. You can see the H-Line sticker on the tank.

Overall it looks good.

Hi Rens,
Many compliments for your fantastic 501! What type of stickers needs your bike, the type of 1989 or the type of 1991?
My 1991 stickers are in very good conditions and if you need this type I can make copies.
Let me know!

I would very much like copies of old stickers as well. Basically I'm looking for stickers from 1989-1996. so if you Tommy74 are willing to make copies I should appreciate some too. :)

Hi to all,
someone can confirm if the blue color used for plastic parts of Husaberg since 1989 up to 1991 was only one?
I have found many pictures of 501 and 350 on the web and it looks like there are two version of blue, am I wrong? I can post all these pictures, many are on this forum like
the 350 fe of Martcarl (post of 9th Sept 2014) that looks dark blue.
Pictures of other bikes are more similar to Rens 501 light blue bike.
Pictures in my old Italian motorbikes magazines are also different.
In the past as you probably know the universal Acerbis plastic parts like Elba or Vision (headlight), Baja (back fender), Trophy or Rally (front fender) were available in many colors. One of these is the Yamaha very light blue color. Do we have a way to differentiate these, a product code or the RAL system?
Someone who has worked for Husaberg may have the answer...but also those who have had the bike at that time may recall!

Tommy

Hi Pontus!
I am doing the Husaberg written stencil for the 1990-1991 blue seat cover. I will make my seat cover first and if it works I will make some new stencil on e-bay.
I took the right dimensions of the logo from my well preserved and original seat cover.
For the copies of old stickers it's not as simple as I thought. I need more time to obtain a perfect result. I will let you know!

Hi Tommy,

Sorry for my late reaction, I've been very busy since the last time.
Thanks for your compliment, regarding my FE 501:) it's indeed a looker.
Concerning the stickerset it should be for a '91 model that was Original on it.
I am still arguing with a guy who promised to make a '89 style stickerset but again there's complete ''radio silence''
About the color i think that there is only one color blue used from'89 till '91.
I know that Acerbis made a lighter blue for Maico in '86 till '90 also the Elba,Baja,Trophy butt this is really a different blue.
I haven't seen the blue used on Yamaha IT models,i think it's also lighter blue?
As for plastic parts for the pre '93 models ? it's nearly impossible to get NOS, if so you get scared about the prices they will ask.
If you get an example for the stickerset please let me know i am also interested.

@Happier nice berg you have thanks for the entry:)

Newb, loving the site, and I'm learning a lot very quickly.

I'm wondering if anybody with a pre 97 berg can tell me about plastic compatibility?
Will 94-96, 600 ( or fc400 etc) number plates fit my 95 fe 501?
I'd like to bring it back to it's glory.
I have found some used plastics with graphics but I don't know if they will fit.

A wealth of information here, and I'm thankful to all who help keep these old scoots alive.

Hi Rens!
Thank you for your reply about the color. Also a Swiss collector of pre-KTM Husaberg bikes confirmed me that the blue up to 1991 was only one. In the same year the first yellow fender appeared on the Jimmy Ericsson replica bikes (attached picture).
Here a sample of my 1991 right panel, my frame year letter is "M".
If your bike is 1990, frame letter "L", probably the stickers are the same of 1989. In the attached picture of an unsold 1990 French bike very well preserved (except for the faded blue color) you can see it, the bike number is 203, produced in 1990. What is the final number of your bike?

Tommy

Hi Tommy,

My FE 501 has the letter L and the number ends with 239.
All the markings, like on the plastic and rims, are dated 11-'89.
If you check out some pictures in this topic you can see the date on the rim.
As for the NOS FE 501 it's not faded this particular bike is really new but because of the sun it looks faded but it isn't.
The sticker that is on your side panel is the same that was original on mine too.

I uploaded some pictures of the old ''party animal'':D

Hi Rens,
thank you for your reply!
Are you the first owner of the bike? When I bought my bike I found front and rear fenders in yellow, the previous owner has had difficulty to find the blue plastics replacement.
I agree with you, the influence of the sun on plastic colors can mislead. Please view a picture of two of mine preserved parts, the headlight (dated '90) and the rear fender (dated '91), both new unused and under the same light, the color is clearly different.

Hey Tommy,

Well as fore the history of this particular Husaberg, no i am not the first owner.
But the first owner i knew him, because i got the chance to test this bike in 1990 when he was riding near a mx track.
The first owner named Klaas Tasma was caught by the police in 1990 got fined bigtime:( and lost fun in riding, this meant that the Husaberg was put in the shed with only 880 km on it

the second owner, the guy from wich i bought the bike, had no place to put the bike in a shed and to leave outside so the seat and the plastics on the bike discoulered very badly, but is now really nice to see.
The bike came with the original owners manual and parts catalogue, also the registration papers from the two previous owners are also with it, so it's really nice documentated.
Youre right light and colours can play tricks on you:eek:

plastics - where from?

Hy Rens, where did You get the nice Plastics from?
Hi to all Husaberg owners,

I was wondering how many "old school Husabergs " are out there in the world. Like wich type and in wich country they are. And how you got to this particular bike(s)

So guys, show them to the forum members and the visitors of this site.
My 1990 FE 501 is restored now, except for the original decals. :-(

So "lets hear it" for the old Bergs.

Grtz Rens

Hi Bergmeister,

Well the plastic is original, i just cleaned it very good :)
New old stock is very hard to get and very expensive, so cleaning it pays off.
