ah! shux and we was talking about dale's rough career breaks for once!

there's no justice. or is there?

Taffy

Hi Taffy,
I was unaware that we were discussing me and / or my career.

Justice you say? Any adult whom still believes life is inherently fair by design is truly blind in my opinion.

Dale, if you'd like to discuss this further, I'd be happy to via pm, continuing in the vein of the PM I sent you yesterday. As your comment to me has nothing to do with the topic at hand, I will not be responding via the thread.

thanks,

I did not view your PM until this post. You have one in return.

Note:
I have "Never" made a personal assault on anyones character and / or well being. I do however speak my mind. If you find this offensive simply say so and I shall refrain from further comment.

Sorry Gents, you can't have it both ways.

Maybe its just me,but I enjoy the posts with a little spirit.I do not care if the person is right or wrong,a popular view or not.As long as religion or sensitive political issues are not involved ,if someone wants to disagree with or defend a position , I say let er' fly. ....nsman

Personally I prefer "show me don't tell me".
I make every effort to know the facts prior to opening my mouth and / or putting something in print.

This "race program" theme personally gets under my skin as it is everything except a new idea. Where was the support for the 2004 Baja entry of "Bergdaddy"?

Talk is talk "show me the money"

The 04 Baja attempt was indeed under staffed and under funded. It was not from any lack of dedication, desire or expertise from those involved that it failed. In the end no reasonable amount of money or support would have changed the outcome. With that said, I like the idea of a team, and welcome BMG's idea. I just think it should involve something a little less daunting as say Baja. I think there is a place for this project. The biggest problem will be getting everyone on the same page, setting goals and then of course obtaining them.

Mmm mmm mmm... Don't hold back now Ken, spit it out! Ken has what I believe to be the best suggestion so far. Read through the previous posts and piece bergers suggestion together and what say you??? One bike, three races, very little in the way of after market bling-bling crap. Solid, out of the crate racing machine. 550 platform is just bad to the bone!!!

What do you guys think???

ps. I know I said Bling bling but it is acceptable in a conjunction used with the word crap.....

Well Keith. I really had not posted it, I was really just putting some feelers out for it. I had spoke to a few people in chat and had PM'ed a few to try and get a response.
Here is a copy of what I had in mind, although abit premature.
A couple of ideas I have kicked around. First...If we could liberate that 650 from Dirt Rider. Freshen it up and doll it up with some accessries from the catalogue. Second....crash the Dirt Rider web site challenge with the bike...yes, a somewhat stock bike. Yes its stock and we are goin to race it that way. We throw that challenge out to all of the others.
I think entering the Reno to Vegas race would be great, especially since BOSS has some interest. I think the Vegas Endurocross should be included. Last but not least we put a set of wheels and brakes on it and race it SM, possibly the RedBull finally in Reno.
3 diciplins all in a somewhat centrally located area. It almost sounds doable and on a small budget as well.
I'm not sure if there is a class for the 650 in the endurocross. We may have to borrow a 450 for that.
Ahhh the insane ramblings of lunatic mind!!

Berger,

Glad you threw it out there for everyone to see and ponder... well I guess I did that. I think this is a great idea with one small difference, why get the DR 650 back to doll it up? If BMG is able to cough up a new '06 bike lets start with a new platform. I would prefer the 550 as it is the most versatile bike in the lineup but rules would have to dictate the final displacement. This would show us, the community, as well as the others exactly where the bike lines up against the others. I especially like the stock configuration idea! Just imagine a stock husaberg running against other bikes with all the aftermarket junk added to them.... kinda neat A? Not only that, but if we could get ourselves invited to the website shootout after loosing a week or two to everyone else, what does that say? What do the masses have to say about this?

Regards,

I choose 650 because BOSS mentioned it for Desert racing. It would probably be the displacement of choice for SM as well. I also figure there is one out there already that might be available. If it's an 05 we put 06 plastics on it. Just trying to keep with the low budget theme.
All of this is just me kicking around some idea's. I havnt got a clue if any of it is feasable.

Ken,

I am unfamilure with the rules and regulations of organized racing but what would Endurocross entail? Does it have displacement classes like the Supercross, is there a class for a 650cc bike?

Regards,

Endurocross is 450 only for the moment.

I think they'd have to helivac too many people if they allowed bigger bores.

So Ken, if I understand you, the idea would be to show the versatility of the Husaberg by entering in 3 distinctly different events rather than try to field a team in just one. Not a bad idea. Kind of a Triathlon.
The multi-discipline approach would take some of the pressure off of having to win because it would be a good story if the bike actually just managed to finish and do reasonably well. Dirt Rider or someone would run the story for sure.
We have riders capable of competing in each of those events and the bike is apparently available. It would also appeal to a wider range of the UHE membership and I know that we could roust volunteers to handle the grunt work such as pits etc.
The idea is a bit farfetched, but that's its strength.
I raced desert, TT, and motocross all thru the 70's and had to use the same bike for most of them so why not? The newer bikes are way more sophisticated than my old Huskys were.
Now as to the idea of a Fat Old Guys Race Team.........

Hi Brett,
So why not simply state "current record holder" as opposed to "eleven year old girl?"

Because it's funnier to say "eleven year old girl", and you would understand that if you had a sense of humor

Wrong!

Stating "eleven year old girl" gives the illusion that Kenny Noyes could not keep up with a child.

Truth be told kenny pushed a Husaberg to the limit and fell off hard as a result. Defining limits, such is what sets the foundation which improves the breed.

Kenny and I now know the limit and why. Such is hard earned R&D which does not come cheap.

Let's call a spade a spade shall we.

Those who "can" DO, those who "can't" DEBATE. I would be willing to do a 'Berg reinactment of the TV show "Pinks" here and state that anyone who has posted so far on this subject (on this thread) that can lap Stockton on my 650 faster than Kenny, can keep the bike.....I realize (I think) that the comments were ment as a subtle ***, but I was there watching Kenny push the front BIG TIME finding the limits (on an un-familiar bike AND track) and you may not have heard of him before, but you will soon!

Can we please stick to the topic at hand gentleman.

Topic @ hand.

OK, what is the topic @ hand?

A Husaberg Austria, BMG, UHE and / or individually funded racing effort?

A media blitz?

A bad dream?

I would truly like to hear from Jedi since he prompted this thread.
Jedi, are you suggesting BMG sponsor a program or that UHE members do so?

Berger, please define the topic as I am indeed quite confused.

Dale

So we have narrowed the rider down to a little girl, Kenny, or an old fat guy.

Good start :)

and the venue could be just about anything :) although I havent heard of a trials suggestion :)

I do like the ideas. And I want to stay out of this as much as possible as I believe it should be a .org decision. BMG will be participating in other events on separate budgets.

Whatever the .org budget, small or a little smaller, there are some real neat opportunities.
