Help on Removing Flywheel on 1995 FC501

Need some advise ... 1995 FC 501

I am replacing the Stator, I have removed the left handed nut in the center of the fly wheel.

There is a little rust on the inner part of the fly wheel.

How do I get the flywheel off so I can get at the stator.
The flywheel itself is cast aluminum and there seems on obvious way to get hold of it from the inside with a wheel puller.

HELP!!!!

You need a special Husaberg puller, about $20. I don't know which one since I have never worked on that early of a Berg.

DO NOT use a standard pulley or gear puller on the flywheel. You will ruin the flywheel if you do.

Hang on until someone that knows gives you the answer.

Thanks for the help guys.

I just ordered a puller $$$

Nominally this is a 26MM X 1.5MM RH threaded puller

The threads are in the fly wheel look like a big nut, hence the puller needs to look like an externally threadded piece of pipe with a bolt in the center.

BTW, the nut in the center of the flywheel is LEFT HAND thread..

Interesting, that is the same flywheel puller that we use on the Cannondale ATVs and Dirtbikes -- I sell them to the Cannondale crowd for $15. Since some of our flywheels can be very stubborn, we have found it best to tighten the center bolt modestly at first, then tap tap tap, tighten more, tap tap tap, etc. until the flywheel loosens without damage to the crankshaft or tool. One Cannondale guy had a very bad experience, after using a 2-foot cheater bar to remove a seized up flywheel. He destroyed both the puller AND the crank!

Anyway, I'll be visiting and posting to these forum pages soon, in a search for alternate flywheels and stators to use on the Cannondales. We have SEM flywheels that manage to self-spin on the center hub!. The stators we use are from Electrex, and have only a 3-wire output to the voltage regulator. The crankshafts are from MAPE of Italy, and perhaps the same taper/keyway. I'll start a thread soon with some pictures and details. I suspect some Husaberg parts may be adaptable to the Cannondales.

I used the puller for my KTM on my Husaberg - it's the same, costs less. Husaberg get a premium for the same parts. Compare valves & other interchangeable parts and see..
