it turns out exhausts are really hot too! Who'd have thunk it!

if up to the time it had a problem is 'when it was OK'? then you were rich.

drop the needle or the PJ is too large. but normally the needle is too rich and needs lowering,

Ah ok, adjust the clip position. I set it on 8, went for middle of the band

Should mention I'm getting loads of popping and banging! Suppose if it's rich then that would be explained.

I'd have a go with it using a wideband exhaust gas analyser myself :) (Because that would be fun to me. I'm not certain at all that it's the right way to do it, but more instrumentation and data can't be bad?)

I tried my hand at some other bits on the bike, it turns out this bike really wants to keep hold of the 42 on the rear.

So much so it will not come off! I've tried Allen keys and Spanner's! The holes are rounding and so are the nuts. It's stuck solid!

I think the drill and maybe the grinder are going to have to be used in this one.

Just back from Cyprus and managed to get in the garage.

Took the carb back out and moved the clip up 1 notch. It's now sat at 6. It was running too rich.

I've noticed now it starts fine but if you try and rev it too quickly it cuts out.

Any ideas??

sounds like PJ but that can be PS turns out and it can be too lean on the PJ?

Taken it fir a ride. Seems fine mid and top so I'd say it's pj or pas. It didn't stop like it did before I adjusted the clip. Think I just need to play with the pas a bit more.

Took her out, found a country lane so I could play. I got a rino exhaust fitted so it's bloody loud and didn't want to annoy people going up and down. I did pi@@ off a few sheep though.

opened the paj and did a few runs, think I've got it nailed. It can feel a tiny bit hesitant from a stand still but once going it shoots off! I don't know how much I just kept playing with 8th increments. I should record it!

Pretty happy though! And happy with taffys jet kit that's inside!

I've bought a complete new head ready to install. However I'm wondering wether to bother or not. The bike is quick and will propel you down a country lane at frightened speed. It really doesn't need and more performance.

Can the head be done in the frame?

I'm tempted to keep buying engine bits and do a full rebuild at some point.

Back down the garage again,

Managed to get the rear sprocket off. Much easier to work on the sprocket when you remove it from the Cush drive lol, you live and learn.

Today's quandary is how do I set a new chain initially?

There are two notches on the swing arm and three on the sliding bit they must mean something.

I know I want the chain forwards so it wears backwards but don't want go too far.

Any advice appreciated

So the chain is all fitted. Now running a 16/38 gearing. Feels much better.

Just been doing my valve / tappet clearances. Found it easier to just move the radiator out of the way. So whilst the coolant was out I finally fitted the vapour cooling hose.

Started up no bother after doing g the valves. Have noticed if I snap the throttle on idle it can cut out. I’ll probe more into that.
