if it has a dome on it it is the modified piston, if it is flat it is the standard piston. if it is wossner there will be a code in the crown to identify it.

Cheers!

And we’ve made a start! Couple of hours this morning to strip it down, nothing seized or broken (yet)!

So engine stripped and we’ve got a different piston than the one we last saw!

Paint strip off the head and valve covers, frame back in with the powder coaters and hoping to make some good progress next week.

Using the Pryme MX wheels on a buffing machine to help clean up some tired parts!

So to keep the thread live for this bike i've got a little update!

Engine been stripped and checked by DCR (10mins from me) and by god did we have a list!
4 Bent valves
Main bearings gone
Big end bearing
Piston scored badly

As we can't get the valves for the old holds we've got a head of a 501 with 4 new valves, new piston, new mains and new big end. Frame is back from the powder coaters (RAL 5017) and we've got a rolling chassis with the engine in.

Order a chunk of parts from Taffy that arrived within 48 hours (great service) including a new N Style sticker kit! Picture below of current position!
