May have just purchased a piston, crankshaft and liner too.

you put that piston in and I think it'll go bang! depending on the deck height etc. don't use a piston with a dome in the old 650s Ian. try and get the gudgeon pin half out and then measure to the deck edge over the pin.

Pretty sure it's come from an old 650? I'll double check before I put it in.

IMHO that piston isn't going to last you long enough. yes it is just about OK now BUT if you build the engine well, the only reason it will come down one day will be 'the puff of cmoke' coming from the piston! with this piston in the photo, although passable today, i would say that it will be just 24 months before that day comes?

secondly, that looks like the 470 piston which is too short at the squish (or rim/circumference), if this came up, you would have a taller flat piston.

I suggest that you lay just the crank with the piston and liner in the left half and get it to TDC and measure the piston to linar top and take it from there ok?

TBH I didn't really need the con rod, piston, liner or crank. Just got them as a thrown in with the deal kind of thing. The head was the bit I was after.

well it is crank with rod isn't it really? the liner wants re-nikasiling so i'm guessing £75-100 for the liner and £150-200 for the crank?

just a guess?

....and don't use ball bearing mains on a 650! even an old one! Rollers everytime IMHO.
