Velo, I can make you cry, you will be wishing you had a fire road to rest! LOL

Well, I know what group I am signing up for. Not that I want to put myself through the torture, but to see Velo (I ride 10,000 miles a year) reduced to tears would be worth any personal suffering I would have to endure. :D 8O

The Fritz and Vello show!! Nothing but comedy!
I like what vello had to say regardless of the fire roads!
Let's go cajun style and head down south!!

I have not been around here for a while. I am a member of Adventure rider.com. I've been working on putting together a proposal for their West Fest rally. I plan on having it in Buena Vista Co. I was upthere last weekend. Meet with the camp ground people. Then I took a quick trip over to Taylor Park. I hadn't been there in a couple of years. Taylor Park is a great place. Lots of single track. All of it is marked and on maps.
If your planning on a Force ride upthere mid July August is a great time. But expect afternoon rains. Sept is better but the high country can be snowed in.
I am headed back there in a couple of weeks to ride single track with some of my friends.
I've offered this before. But if there is anything that I can do to help if it is to be held in CO please let me know.

By the way WF will most likely be held the last weekend in July at the Arrowhead campground. Lots of bike. And some really good people. Feel free to stop by.

lets keep bumping this for the next 7 days and get those last votes in....

IF YOU HAVEN'T VOTED AND YOU'RE CONSIDERING GOING TO FR3 THEN VOTE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

regards

Taffy

Yay!

I'm confident if anyone can do it, you can. I pretty much enjoy hard rides tho. I'll try to come out early so I don't miss out on any socializing this time because of trying to ride too much.

can we have a final tally soon!

it's a year this or next weekend we are thinking of holding FR3.

LAST ORDERS AT THE BAR!!!!!

TIME GENTLEMEN PLEASE!

json has told me that he doesn't know how the votes were made but i've always said that i went for silverton. in the final tally you can stick my vote across to gunnison.

anyone else agree?

regards

Taffy

We can go to Silverton If you want to, It's very easy to get to from Gunnison. The Parts Unlimited Ride is going on right now as we speak. They started out of Crested Butte rode to Ouray on Wednesday, spent yesterday riding down there then they come trough here today back up to c.b. They have had to deal with snow and rain the whole time, the mountains are spectacular this time of the year. If you are prepaired. I would probably try to schedule the event a week or two earlier, but also it could be very dusty at that time so rain, snow or dust!

hi fritz

we'll need clarity very soon. if gunnison is where it will be then we'll need one address or two. thats it. full stop. that'll be our skeleton and from the skeleton we hang the muscles!

muscles will be our routes for each day.

Mike - OSSAMAN!!!!

whatchyu reckon? its now coming up mid september?

if we do go for gunnison, blokes like fritz can look out the window and say "hey! this weekend next year will be fine!" or back one or even back two!

i need to help here and go check the flights again?

i believe that denvar was said to be the nearest airport wasn't it? i think i'll try JFK or new york and take an internal this time? i really would like to see NY sometime and i also want to go to a museum up there in the state called 'rheinbecker'.

just run those airports again? denvar, salt lake and?

regards

Taffy

Taff,
The first or second weekend in Sept. check those flights, snows -a-comin. Not sure if it helps but check Albuquerque, New Mexico also look at Grand Junction, CO that would be the ultimate best airport to fly into. Regardless of date ALL must be prepared for bad weather. You can start out and it's jersey weather then the temperature will drop 20 degrees snow/rain and by the time you are back to camp the sun is out and it's warm again. As we say around here "it's Colorado, if you don't like the weather wait 10 min. it'll change" it's a year away and I'm getting stoked already !

As I said before. Gunnison also has an airport that is connected to mostl major US airports.
I think the weekend after Labor Day may be a good bet.
Silverton could be a day trip out of Gunnison if people are interested.

I have been sitting back and watching where all of of this going and it appears that 99.99% of the conversations lately all have to do with riding in Colorado.

Let's close the poll and declare the winner as Gunnison! Do you agree Taffy? Bobzilla? Berger? Stoveguy?

This will allow all of those that wish to attend to start planning for Force Ride 3.

Labor Day 2009 is on the 7th of September.

I vote for either of the 2 weeks after Labor Day as the majority of people will be home from their vacations and school will have started.

I will call the Wildwood Resort in Gunnison to get a feel for accomodations after the holiday weekend. http://www.wildwoodmotel.net/ - http://www.coloradodirectory.com/wildwoodmotel/

I found this place by just surfing the net. Any other suggestions on places to stay will most likelly have to come from Fritz. this is his backyard.

Ok, Ok, Ok, I Unofficially give up Silverton as my vote I'm down with Gunnison. For C/ Scenic riders I will sign up for a long day trip out of Gunnison/ Crested Butte, if you got plate we will ride out of Gunn/ CB hit Lake City then Alpine Loop is us. It is one long *** day , but you will not be dissappointed. from there I will have to get together with Fritz and crew and will help with all rides that I can.
Late

P.S. If you have to fly here I will go out of the way to get you here. tell me where and when to pick you up.

So this is what an hour on the internet and a phone call will get ya.
Gunnison has an airport that appears accessable from any major airport in the US. There are 3 other airports within 3 hours drive, Denver,Aspen and Colorado Springs.
I found this place for lodging.
http://www.3riversresort.com/other.htm
60-100 people, no problem. They do big groups often. It looks like it would run $30-65 a night depending upon what you want as far as rooms etc.. It all depends on how comfortable you are with sharing space. They have single rooms up to houses for 8, and everything in between.
There is no place for camping or RV's but there is a State campground about 2 miles away and a private campground about 4 miles away.
They do have meeting areas available both inside and out (reserved for a fee).
The property is located right between Gunnison and Crested Butte. About 10 miles from each as far as I can tell.
Best time of year for us would probably be August 15- September 15.
The only downside I see really is the lack of camping/RV spaces. Whith the price of fuel and the somewhat reasonable price of lodging, that may not be an issue.

This is no more than an example guy's.
I'll put this up again.

That will be an epic ride for anyone with a plate.
