just checking out flights and i can get to gunnison no probs.

then i thought, is there anyone who fancies going but is looking for someone to share the driving and gas? so if there is anyone who is looking for a driving buddy give me a shout and i can fly in.

just incase your wondering about my limey driving. Well you know when your highway partol does all that chasing ramming and vip protection driving well i been trained up on all of that as i did it for 7 years so we can have fun ramming stuff off the road and the smokeys wont be able to catch us..............oops getting carried away, what i was trying to say was that i know how to drive - riding's another thing though - so no worries.

I can hardly wait ... that is as long as gurls are still welcome. :chuckle:

Never ridden CO ... pretty stoked to check it out.

I should be going, just depends mostly on my school at that point.

I would appreciate if somebody could send me a little more info on the FR itself.

Thanks

well i am going to plan on going.
i may not be on a husaberg, but i'll be riding.
the last ride had some people working really hard behind the scenes to get things together.
i know that dezduster did a ton of legwork, and dished out a pile of dough.
just some fyi.
is there a lead contact on this trip?

well according to kzoo, now is the time to get the TT campsite sorted. any chance of some visual on the TT location?

Ossaman and myself will be trying to organize a lead team in the next week or so.

Yep, they instructed to get in touch with them after the first of the year to get things arranged. I thought someone that lives out that way (Fritz) was supposed to visit the place and get the lay of the land.

Here is an email that they had sent me regarding rates etc... I don't know how it stacks up with other places though.

"HERE ARE OUR RATES
CAMPING: BASED ON TWO PEOPLE PLUS TAX
FULL HOOKUP WITH CABLE IS $28 @ NIGHT $26 WITH OUT CABLE. WEEKLY PAY FOR 6 GET 7TH FREE. TENT SITE FOR $ 17 @ NIGHT. EXTRA PERSON PER SITE IS $ 3. CABINS START AT $70 @ NIGHT AND $ 5 FOR EXTRA -PERSON. WHEN YOU ARE SURE OF WHAT YOU WILL HAVE CALL US AFTER THE 1ST OF THE YEAR AND WE WILL BE HAPPY TO WORK SOME ARRANGEMENTS FOR YOU."

I haven't had further corresondance other than to say thanks for the rate info. I figured Fritz would be better as getting all the particulars together.

The RV rates are good, especially if it includes cable for $28 a night. I'll probably get the week deal as I will be there before the ride begins and leave after. Thanks Kzoo, Berger, and Ossaman. If you need any help let me know.

WE HAVE FIVE CABINS YOU CAN GO ON TO WEB WWW.TALLTEXANCAMPGROUNDOFGUNNISON.COM AND SEE PICTURES OF THE CABINS.

THE PRICES START AT 70/90 PER NIGHT FOR TWO PEOPLE AND 5 DOLLARS PER EACH PERSON EXTRA.

TWO CABINS WILL HOLD 5,(ONE ROOM WITH DBL BED AND BUNKS)
TWO WILL HOLD 4 ( QUEEN BEDROOM AND COUCH) AND
ONE WILL HOLD 6( QUEEN BEDROOM, COUCH AND BUNKS IN HALL).

EACH INDIVIDUAL NEEDING CABIN MUST MAKE THEIR OWN RESERVATION AND THERE IS A 30 DAY CANCELATION POLICY.

bagsy i sleep in the queen bed with bobzilla! (bagsy is a word very young children shout when very young to be 'first turn' at something).

although the owner is cleverly asking us to book the cabins individually, i suggest that we agree here on who books which room and raises a group. that we then pledge to that room leader and they raise the initial deposit (whether us minions have paid him at that moment or not) but that the group leaders negotiate a better price for all of the cabins through one person?

instead of someone balling out 'room for 6 please!' perhaps we ought to raise the groups first. quite frankly, while i'd like a bed i would also help anybody with a sleeping bag (find space on the floor kinda thing) coz i guess i'm going to be in the "lads lounge".

On F2, I was able to secure ALL the cabins for a modest non-refundable deposit. I dont think we will have a problem securing the cabins as it will be off season for them. From there I was able to set the accomodations up. People basically booked through me. It seemed to go off without a hitch, althought the cabins prices were much cheaper.
I would like to get a better feel for numbers before approaching the campground.
I have not talked to TallTex yet, but the other local campground I posted links for said there would be no problem booking at that time of year.
I will try and inquire as to the number of cabins they have as well.

Half way between Gunnison and Crested Butte. Maybe 10 miles. I really thought it fit the bill better for cabins, but it had no RV parking on site. I thought with the price of fuel at the time it may have been cheaper for most to just use the cabins and leave the RV's at home. Since fuel has gone down perhaps Talltexan is the best place at this time.
Here is the link again.

Hi all, I've been lurking in the shadows too long, but am liking what I am seeing! The TT campground looks nice. I voted as a maybe, but as we get closer I can see how the finances look. A big thankyou goes out to all of you who are doing the leg work :thumb:

6 + 5 + 5 + 4 ain't going to cover jack whatsisname! that's 20 males sorted but we're looking at 50 - 60 people.

so unless anyone has any other suggestions we're most likely to need TT. what does 3 rivers have for cabins then? (i may have missed that snippet of info?)

Taffy

maybe this one isn't going to be as well supported at all? i just get the feeling we're not getting that excitment from the masses this time.

i can't be bothered to laugh ron. i'm as pissed off looking out as you are looking in - and i have to buy the phuckin plane ticket! if it wasn't for the old guard i wouldn't "go tu't foot of r stairs me duck". but do carry on.....

Taffy

I'm here Taffy lurking behind the scenes with Berger and Daleo keeping all the really good information from you, we are hoping for some of those colorful Limey metaphors you like to use. The delay is really Fritz' fault but no one can find him cause there is so much freakin snow and he is sledding the back country. Could we have some global warming please ???? Rest easy the wheels are in motion, book the flights, if you book them they will come.............
Later
Ron
